Twilight Princess glitched, ruined game? Help!

My friend has been playing my Twilight Princess and he has gotten to the part where you warp the canon to the guy at the lake to fix it. But first you must ask that one man to leave. You talk to the man and he leaves, then you can warp, simple as that. When he got to the lake he needed a few more bucks so he figured it was a good place to stop. He turned the game off. The last time he saved was before the warp. So when he turned the game back on he was back in the room with the broken canon. Only this time, something was wrong because the man you have to ask to leave IS GONE! I have seen it with my own eyes. He is not in the room AT ALL! If you try to walk out then he yells at you and ask where are you going, when doing so it clearly shows him standing there. But as soon as that quick cut scene is over you look to where he should be in the room and he is not there! If you try to warp Minda wont because the guy is in the room and will see you. I have walked up to where he should be (or where I think he should be if I remember correctly.) and I still had no talk icon, I was thinking maybe the glitch just made him disappear visually, but no he is GONE. He has to start over now because he is stuck in the room. Has this glitch ever happened to anyone before? If so has anyone by any long stretch know how to fix it? I even tried to copy the game data to a blank spot and play the copied data out of desperation to fix it, yeah that didn't work (dunno why it would but it was worth a shot). Also just so I'm confident he hasn't just went inviso with the glitch can I get a general consensus on where he is standing in the room? If anyone can help (although I doubt it) that would be great.

Speaking of saving... I actually wish I'd saved a second file, right before the Master Sword sequence. That's cool enough to watch a bunch of times.

yeah youll need to erase the file. happend to me and it sucked right bad, Im pretty sure theres no way around it. And if there is Ill be so mad that I dont even know what Ill do.

According to Glitches - Zelda Wiki.org ... it only happens on earlier discs. Anyone know if we can check the minidisc for a code/number to see if we have an affected/earlier one?

Yeah I heard about this one, nothing you can do. But wow, your friend saved and turned off the game at exactly that point, what are the odds?

There is absolutely no way to get out of there unless you found another glitch out there.
You realy need to start over then...

download a save right before that?

Seems like an odd place to save your game, I guess? *shrug* But definitely good that it was found. And ultra cool that Nintendo offered free disc replacements!

This is what is known as a GEG, or Game Ending Glitch. There is no way to fix it, and it only happens in the Wii version. Your game is officially over.

Oh I saw that happening. Its pretty much unavoidable. Just save and restart.

save quite and load.

Actually, that's what causes the glitch. If you save in the room and then quit, the guy is gone and you can no longer continue. If the guy isn't there and Midna is still telling you to make him go away, then there's nothing you can do about it. You'll have to start over.
