TP treasure chests: Yay or Nay

I couldn't really think of a title to descrive this, but how does everyone feel about the new feature for the treasure chest in TP. By that I mean, if your wallet is full, then it just puts the money back. Personally at first I thought it was a good idea, but then later on in the game it got kinda annoying. I'd have like 150 rupees left before reaching the limit, and find a 200 rupee or something like that (just an example). Now outside in hyrule field and other places it's not that big of a deal, but inside the temples, it really annoyed me because I can't stand leaving a treasure chest unopened before finishing the temple.

I really didn't like the way that worked. Whenever I opened a chest and It got put back I was mad. When I came back to that room to because I thought I forgot something and opened it again made things even worse.

Agreed, like I said, got really annoying after a while. Especially in temples and the like. I think it's a good idea, but played badly. Maybe if they gave you a choice. You open the chest and the text says "You got 200 rupees! But there's not enough room in your wallet.."
Then the options
Keep it
or
Put back

I wondered why they did it in the first place. If you were looking for a key in a dungeon and you had to go to every chest with a full wallet, that's what made me mad. Only really happened to me once in Lakebed, but I had to go through the place two or three times to find the stupid thing.

It would've been a good idea if money was more useful and not-so-easy-to-come-by.

A perfect feature that would fix all the confusion: Put a rupee sign on the pic of the chest on the map. That way, you would know that that chest contains rupees, and you've already opened it. Simple, and it would make the game SO much less annoying.

Thats true, but it's sort of unrealistic. Unless a dungeon item (compess, map, ect.) could do so. Another idea, change the design of the chest, not hugely, but just enough to notice and say that there are rupees in there.

O RLY?
Unrealistic? I beg to differ. PH Link could have easily taken out his map and drawn a Rupee on the map, who's to say TP Link couln't too?

Well yes, PH could be seen as an exeption, but it's the only zelda game SO FAR that you could draw on the maps.

So your saying that TP Link is physically not capable of drawing on his map?

I liked the idea, although I never used it. I spent all my money on stuff. I never go into a dungeon with a full wallet, even with the magic armor. I had a full wallet one time with that game, and that was when I was scared to enter the Cavern of Ordeals.

Unfortuantly, I found the game so easy that I never needed to buy anything. By the end of the game, I probably had 3 potions and a fairy that I bought before the second dungeon, but never used. And I seem to find bombs and arrows way more often then I use them.

But when you actually need them, they're nowhere to be found...
I agree with what most people have said; it's a pain in the arse as I like to know that I have found all the chests in a dungeon, and it's just annoying having to have the chest symbols all over your map...
I agree with HK, it wouldn't have been physically impossible for Link to write on his map. It was a good idea in PH, and would benefit a future game; even if it's not to extent where you can draw anything you like.

If it was real, then no, I'm not saying that. But the game has been released and everything else so it's a bit late now. Maybe if they remake it in 10 or 20 years. The drawing on the map would be a nice feature in future games.

I actually kind of liked the idea. In previous Zelda games you could go mad trying to get loaded up on rupees, sometimes. So it's kind of a cool feature. Frustrating at times, yeah, but useful when you need it.

An alternative might be for the item to not always be the same, inside the chests. So for example if your wallet is full, instead it will be bombs. Or arrows, or... well, take your pick.

^thats a very good idea. A second alternative item if you can't hold the primary one.

I agree with this. If you have enough of one item and you get a chest, it should have contain something you need more of. I don't think this would work, however, if you were full on everything. Then you'd still be putting back rupees, or picking up some item you already have enough of. There's no getting around it in situations like that.

Well it could always resort to Deku nuts. Or maybe some obscure letter that is really useless.

"Hi! You've found a Treasure Chest! There's usually something in here, but I forgot to fill this one. Sorry! Come back later."

Yep, worst thing ever done by Zelda creators! Yeah when you have 280 rupees and you find a 100 rupee then you can't keep it because of that, and that is stupid!

It's painfully ironic that Link manages to carry three bomb bags, two shields, two swords, a huge boomerang, a slingshot, a ball and chain, four bottles of whatever, several handfuls of golden bugs, two spare outfits and a bevy of other items...

...Yet he can't manage to stash a few spare rupees...

Well, that's true. But does it really solve the problem? "Come back later" is what I'm talking about. The issue here was that in dungeons, the chest remained on the map after you had to return the rupees. In this case, that would still happen. But I think a letter saying everything but that last bit wouldn't be too bad. In fact, it'd add a bit of a lighter side to the dungeon.

That certainly made me laugh. And think. You have a point, but it's a game, and I guess Nintendo thought people would like it better if you could come back and get the rupees when/if you needed them. I don't know why they thought people would want to go back into a dungeon and navigate their way through just to get a rupee, though. I never did.

I think that they could have let you keep excess rupees from dungeons, while letting you put rupees you can't hold back when outside of dungeons, and it would have been alright. That way, there'd be no issue with having chests remain on your dungeon map, and there'd still be plenty of rupees to return to.

Yeah I just play the chicken game and land on that platform, if I'm money hungry. Pretty easy and it's 100 or 150 rupees every time. Of course you pay 30 to get there, though.
