Majora's Mask on Gamecube

I LOVE Majora's Mask, but I haven't played it for many years, and I really feel like playing it again. Problem is, my sister has my N64, and she lives far away. So I'm thinking about buying the Zelda Collector's disc for Gamecube, MM being the only game I want on it. But from what I've read, it's a bad transfer of the game to GC, and it has various problems.
How bad are these problems? Will they spoil my wonderful memories of this fantastic game? (I have the bonus disc to Windwaker, and problems like the sound lagging every time you exit the items meny on Ocarina really bothered me)
And most importantly, is it true that they have shortened or taken out movie sequences on the GC version of MM? I've heard that, and that sounds terrible, as I love the movies.

I have the collector's edition but didn't have enough space on my memory card to make a MM save file. I have a save file for OoT though, and I didn't notice any difference on it compared to N64 OoT

I used to have one of the golden cartridges for Majora's Mask, but it got stolen along with all my other N64 games, so I had to buy The Collector's Edition to play MM again.

You're right in thinking it has 'various problems', but mostly they're only minor. Even when you're starting up the game it tells you that there will be slight 'graphical errors'. Basically, there will be occasional slow down, mostly in areas such as South Clock Town, but even then it's not so much to destroy your enjoyment of the game.

The other problem they mention, the sound 'blips', is even less to worry about. This mostly happens during the loading times between areas, and I've never had it happen during actual play time.

Now, the problem they don't mention is that the game sometimes freezes up. I've only had this happen to me three times. Twice when I was in Stone Tower Temple, and once while I was entering Clock Town through the West entrance. Some people say that turning off the rumble feature decreases the chance of it freezing, but I'm not so sure about that rumour.

Oddly enough, I didn't have one problem with freezing until I entered Stone Tower...heheh, and people theorise about how there's a curse placed on Ikana.

All in all, it's a worthy buy if you don't have the original cartridge. Even then, you still get the original NES games and OoT for your money, so it's still worth the effort!

Turning off the rumble does help a little. I've experienced for freezes with it turned on but only two when turned off. It's still a problem though, especially considering the funky save system used in MM.

Thanks for replying, all of you. I do own the beautiful golden MM cartridge, but I've lent it to my sister.
So, there's no truth to the claim that movie sequences have been shortened or taken out? That's my main concern.

Wii Code: Ha ha, gotcha! SSBB Code: Ha ha, gotcha again! Phantom Hourglass Code: Wow, three times! Mario Kart DS Code: OK, four times? Metroid Prime: Hunters Code: You just don't give up do yah? Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Code: Don't you get it? Animal Crossing DS Code: Wow, if you looked at all of these yer pretty dumb
The sounds in MM on the GC are screwed up because the transfer did something to them. But it's exactly the same basically.

There's something wrong with the sounds on the CE? I hadn't noticed, it says that there is but...
You should get CE, I don't think that there's anything wrong with it that isn't something that's wrong with the original. It's crashed on me ONCE, and that's only because I was Fierce Deity Link in Clock Town (don't ask).
And for buying an N64 with MM for the same amount of money as the CE.
1) With the CE you get OoT, LoZ and AoL.
2) The same amount of money? Only if you got the N64 for a bargin... I got the CE for $80.

The gamecube version is ok. It did freeze once on me, but not enough to really deter me in any major way. I guess it really depends on when and where it freezes though. The sound got a little funky too sometimes, but again, nothing major.

I didn't know that Majora's Mask was released specially for the Nintendo Gamecube. Well, what can I expect in the remote area that I live in.

But anyway, I have the Ocarina of Time gamecube version and I have experienced some form of lagging with the music in the background and the game seems to run faster than the original version on the Nintendo 64. It has never froze yet after replaying and finishing it several times.

I have never got the chance to reach to the end of Majora's Mask, so thanks for telling me that there is a special version of it released for the Gamecube

Nope, nothing was cut out of the game.

It's only available as part of the LoZ Collectors Edition. It can be somewhat of a rare thing to get hold of these days.

You can get the LoZ collectors edition thing at most gaming stores, used, but still none the less. It has OoT, MM, and the first two zeldas on it, as well as some previews for windwaker (though I'm sure your more intrerested in the games themselves lol) I got my copy for about 30 bucks, which I thought was actually pretty overpriced for a used game, but, I was desperate to replay OoT and MM, and my sister has my only N64 copies.

I don't have a GameCube, but I have a Wii and I play the Collecter's Addition and Wind Waker(The Full Version) and sometimes Link moves on his own(He always moves to the left). The thing is, I'm using a USED controller. Do y'all think it's my controller??

^ I'd say your analogue stick must be a little faulty. I've played both games on my Wii, and had no problems. One thing you could try, is very very slightly tilt the analogue stick to the right as you turn your console on. Hopefully, it will register it as the central position, stopping Link from moving to the left.
