Q. about TP

I am going to get Twilight Princess, but I need to know much it references the goddesses or other such things. I have parents that raised their eyebrows when one of them noticed the creation cutscene in OoT. Retarded question, but it had to be done =/

No the godesses aren't really mentioned in the game, neither is the triforce.

Re: Q. about TP

your parents must be strict on their religious beliefs. Thats what i love about Christianity, they want you to listen to every word they have to say, EVERY WORD, but you try and say one sentence that objects to what they believe, and they won't listen or have any of it.

In order to understand the good, you must at least accept the possibilities outside of what you believe, and take it from there.

Get TP, it won't turn you to aetheism. It will turn you into a Wii-mote swinging nut, though

Re: Q. about TP

Thanks zeldagamer, the triforce itself doesn't matter to them much which is good.

trying to decide though if what you said is good or bad though, as I liked to story in OoT.

It doesn't matter if the Triforce is barely in it, the story line is still pretty good. So get it or you will miss out on a great Zelda game.

Re: Q. about TP

Well there is a very short retelling of the creation myth, but it only lasts like 30 seconds or so, the godesses are represented as beams of light. It happens after, you uhhh...*tries to avoid spoilers*...finished collecting something called tears of light for the third time.

Your parents shure are strict about that stuff. It's not like your gonna believe in the three goddesses of Hyrule, just because a video game mentions them. Tell them that you are smart enough to seperate video games from reality.

I had a friend who came from a christian family, almost all of them loved the Zelda series, including OoT. I dont think they had any complaint against the whole Creation of Hyrule. Well except how boring the scene was after the second time seeing it.

Just get the game, its really fun.

That's just generalizing, not all people who follow Christianity or any religion for that matter are like that.

Anyway, from what I can remember, there wasn't much about the goddesses, I think if there was anything that involved the goddesses, it was really short or you could avoid it all together.

Re: Q. about TP

there were the four light spirits, the fact that zant called the source of his power a god, and a few other things (reference to master sword as sacred blade and such)

but if your parents are honestly dense enough to think that Zelda is some sort of cult game, tell them to look through a forum like this.

Re: Q. about TP

Tell your parents that it's just a game. It's ridiculous to buy your views from a game. I honestly don't see it as a problem, long as the goddesses are only part of the storyline, and the game makers aren't trying to get you to believe it.

The Zelda series has its own religious lore, including spirits, godesses, and both sacred and cursed items/locations. But honestly, there is something wrong with a person if he/she actually becomes brainwashed by these games, which is not what Nintendo is trying to do. These games take you to another world, with its own mythical backstory. That's exactly what it is: A STORY, a fairytale.

Religious fanaticism is just as bad as worshipping a tunic-clad fairy boy. (Not saying that your parents are religious fanatics, The LS, just expressing my view on the topic.)

Some people argue that there are people who cannot process the difference between the two, and they're right. I believe that if you're one of those people, you shouldn't be playing video games, or watching movies or TV. So I think that argument is out of the question. Wanted to get that out of the way, before it came up.

You do have a valid point. But if parents are going to be prohibiting their child from playing video games, it shows that either their kid has serious mental issues and can't handle that kind of media (or TV and movies either, like you said), or they simply don't trust their kid to keep his/her head on straight.

So maybe parents with sane children who still don't allow their kids to play games like this aren't afraid of the game brainwashing their kids, it just shows that they have no faith in their children's ability to use their brains.

That, sadly, is a different issue.

Re: Q. about TP

lol. Thanks everyone...

I will say that I am indeed sane, I am not incredibly influenced by media, and my parents are pretty understanding. I just wanted to know the extent of the storyline incase something came up. ^_^
