Best TP Dungeon Music
So there's this one question. Which dungeon has the best music in Twilight Princess? My favourite, out of randomness, was Temple of Time. Even though it sounded like elevator music (I'm sure I've said that before
) it was original and catchy What are all your opinions?

Re: Best TP Dungeon Music
Hyrule Castle. EASILY. It's the only dungeon music that was any good, frankly. (Well, maybe Palace of Twilight.) Plus, it beautifully merged together two very old and familiar tunes, the general Hyrule Castle theme, and as you progressed upward, the Ganondorf theme came to predominate it. I thought that was an incredible touch.

Re: Best TP Dungeon Music
Snowpeaks Ruins had a good song, and Hyrule Castle too.
The song from Hyrule Castle is one of my favorites in the game and my favorite rendition of that song. And I like how it changes.

Re: Best TP Dungeon Music
Love me some Palace of Twilight. Eerily beautiful chords resonating outside, and a foreboding melody inside; a strong sense of contrast between the two sections added to the aesthetic.
The Forest Temple was well done too.

Although the last three dungeon's music isn't really ambient... And I agree that Snowpeak Ruins has a rockin' song.

Re: Best TP Dungeon Music
I like the Palace of Twilight and Hyrule Castle music. The POT music really set the mood, a had that creepy, otherworldly feel. The first part was calm, but creepy. The second part (In the tower) it was more dramatic (the thunder and lightning certainly helped), and at first it was the classic Hyrule Castle theme, then as you climbed the tower it became a mix of Hyrule Castle and Ganondorf's theme, and then it became only Ganondorf's theme. It helped build up to the climatic battle with Ganondorf.

Re: Best TP Dungeon Music
The dungeon music was lackluster. It was barely audible in many of the dungeons. The Snowpeak Ruins track, being quite atmospheric and mysterious, was one of the better ones. Temple of Time had a good techno "base" but could have used a lot more oomph. I can't even remember Lakebed and Arbiter's. The Forest Temple and Goron Mines were heavily based on percussion--they weren't bad, but they can hardly be considered impressive. I would describe the CitS bgm as effectively adding another layer of nausea to a bland and uninspiring dungeon. The outside portions of the PoT were great, but are offset by the overly subtle indoor track (not to mention the crappiness of the dungeon itself). Hyrule Castle had awesome music. It is clear that it had the most effort put into it. The pattering of the rain in the courtyard set an effective mood, and the intensifying of the music as you ascended the stairs to Ganon's lair was beautifully done.
Overall, it cannot compare with the N64 games. In Ocarina of Time, the Forest, Water, and Spirit Temples feature tracks that are better than any of the dungeons in Twilight Princess. The same can be said of MM's Deku Palace and Stone Tower Temple, and Wind Waker's Wind Temple. |
