So much cut from Twilight Princess trailers!
Well I posted this yesterday but never saw any replies before this whole forum reboot thingy, so here I go again...
After watching the many trailers religiously for TP before its release I couldn't help but notice so much from those trailers that didn't appear when I played through the final version of the game. For instance, a spider chase appeared in one trailer, with Link running from what appeared to be some new version of Gohma in a dark tunnel. Sure Gohma appeared in the game, but this chase scene certainly never happened. Another thing was the cats being rescued in that forest area (it wasn't the lost village) and Link walking through the forest with a tall, furry yeti (much better looking than the dopey yeti in the final version of the game. The last thing I can think of is probably the biggest. In the very first (and oh so memorable) trailer for TP we saw Link on Epona running into an army of moblins and bokoblins. The event definitley never happened in the final version, the battle on horse back dosen't even come close to the scale of the enemies on the trailer. I know these were all from early versions of a game still in development but why cut some of this stuff. The spider chase would have been awesome and why change the yeti so it looks less impressive? Does anybody know why Nintendo chose to cut these things, and is there anything else they cut that I might have missed? |

Re: So much cut from Twilight Princess trailers!
*repost...trying to recreate it at least*
Well as awesome as those scenes were, I'm sure they just weren't fun gameplay wise. The spider scene looks like it would be a nightmare to actually play. (Running constantly with the camera not showing what's in front of you? No thanks, leave that to 3D Sonic games) If you look at other Zelda games early trailers, much of what is in those early trailers was completely cut from the final game. This applies to almost all games. Of the Zelda games released, I think MM followed it's early trailers the best... I find it interesting how Fyrus is in that first TP trailer and looks and acts identical to how he does in the final game released 2 and a half years later. Anyway, as I said above, the scenes were cut for a reason. They just probably didn't work right.

And the magic bar. =\
I don't even know what they were going to use it for, or why they would need to take it out. I was trying to think of things in TP that, to me, looked like they would have been done with magic (The wolf's charge thing).

1. Wolf charge thing...but then a issue would arise when you would be battling Twilit Beasts and being out of magic and so you couldn't do that.. 1. Dominion Rod...for the few times you used it 2. Spin attack 3. Maybe for lantern power... Uh...yeah. Glad it went away. Utterly useless.

Re: So much cut from Twilight Princess trailers!
Go and check early screens of OoT or MM or some other game.
Most of them have early screens of parts that aren't appearing in the final version of the game. However, we did get to see screens of those beta levels. So it's only normal those things such as the Spider-chase aren't in the real game. On the other hand, those beta-level screenshots were normal in in the N64-period (late '90), but you mostly don't see them anymore nowadays. So it's kinda old-fansioned.

Re: So much cut from Twilight Princess trailers!
I never saw any trailers, at least not that i remember, so i can't attest to that, but i do agree that the yetis were funny looking. they just looked like eskimos in full-body parkas. and why the heck is his wife so tiny?!?! that's kinda sick... i mean, yeti-lovin' isn't exactly my area of expertise, but i think there's a bit of a size issue there... just sayin'...

Re: So much cut from Twilight Princess trailers!
I would like Nintendo to release the Beta Form of Twilight, Just because I think the magical game some people think it is would actually be pretty disappointing. It would be interesting though to see what it was like before the Delay.

Re: So much cut from Twilight Princess trailers!
yeah they cut lots but think about it, the trailer was from early 2005 when much of the game was to still be made before the late 2006 release.
I wouldve liked to see the forest giant thing and the epic bokoblin army battle in twilight princess

To be honest, not much in Zelda has used magic anyway. Take Ocarina of Time. They have three magic arrows, Lens of Truth, a Spin Attack, and three spells. A lot of that stuff you don't use too much anyway. Four things is more than enough, and the magic armour using rupees was just stupid. They were used up way too much, and for some reason, when you ran out, you couldn't even wear the armour as a normal tunic!
