first person zelda?

Do you think a first person zelda game would be a good idea? I know theres tons of fps, but what about a first person adventure were instead of using guns you can use links mastersword, his bow, boomerang, etc. IT would be very interesting and put you right into links perspective. I think it would be very cool if nintendo attempted this. what are your thoughts on the matter?

Re: first person zelda?

well personaly I would be against it. It would feel somewhat awkward. It works with fps, but not to sure about a Zelda like game.

Re: first person zelda?

If they did it, I would trust the creators to use it to their advantage and make it a fun experience. We already have a first person viewing mode, so I suppose that could be extended to cover the whole game.

I'd rather they didn't make it first person, though. It would make the world seem narrower, to have to see it through one person's perspective all the time and not be able to swing the camera around for epic scenes.

Re: first person zelda?

I think it could the same as other Zeldas, but if you enter first person mode, instead of just looking around you could do all things you do in third person, that way the player can choose third of first person.

Cool

There is a glitch in OoT that you can do so. you preform the Swordless Link glitch, get on epona use a deku nut or the Ocarina to get off of Epona use the Long shot and the game will start beeping, then use a Deku nut (yes it has to be a deku nut, and you will be in 1st person view (the camara gets stuck in Link's head)

Re: first person zelda?

Ugh, I can't stand first person mode. There're alot of FPS games that my brothers play. I always have trouble with it. I think it's just because I can't see the person's feet. I walk into things, fall off edges, and things like that. It drives me crazy. Generally if a game if an FPS I either don't play it or find a way to turn it back to a third person view. In Metriod it means I'm always a morphball, in starwars I always had a lightsaber. I don't want a Zelda game in first person simply because it'll drive me crazy and I won't want to play it with such a frustrating perspective.

It'd also make alot of puzzles harder to finish. Alot of ones where you have to slide blocks and such around would be harder to do. Also, what about things like the guards at whichever castle? You're supposed run past when the look away and you get in trouble if you're spotted. Without 3rd person it'd be much harder to figure out where all these people walking in circles where, and much much harder to dodge them.

Also, when you leave Link alone in WW at least, what does he do? Moves back and forth, does a little dance, and whatever else. We'd never get to see what Link does when he gets bored if we're stuck in his head.

Anyways, I say no. Hate 1st person, it'd mess up the puzzles, and then we don't get to see our favorite character as much. Of course, no one cares what I think, but that's my view.

Re: first person zelda?

It wouldn't make sense to make Zelda a FULL first-person game, but it would be cool to go into kind of an "fps" mode when you use the bow where you can actually move around and stuff.

Re: first person zelda?

I think that the next Zelda should have FPS, but only at certain times, or as an optional view. For example, when Link uses items which usually just take him into 'stationary' FPS mode, he should be able to move around. Another cool thing would be fo the game to have exact sword/item movements. Then you could go around in FP mode and actually feel like you were 'using' the weapon (For the Wii, of course!).

The next DS Zelda might be able to do something kind of halfway in between. The top screen could display the normal 3rd person view, whereas the bottom screen could be shown in 1st person view. Although, with the success of Phantom Hourglass - it's control sceme in particular -, it seems to me that this won't change anytime soon. It might be an optional extra or perhaps something which happens at certain points, but I don't know.

Overall, I'd like it to be utilized in minigames, battles, future multiplayer - particularly online - things, etc. but not for the whole game. It would probably ruin the game if it wasn't in 3rd person, to be honest...
