Snowpeak Ruins

This dungeon was obviously owned by someone else before the Yetis moved in, so this thread is for trying to figure out what the ruins might have been before they were abandoned and why they were built in the mountains. Should be alot of fun.

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

Why do you say that? Is there something I missed that implies previous ownership? Are you referring the the suits of armor and the weapons hanging on the walls all over the place? Please clarify.

This thread has been done at least twice before. I believe it may have been owned by an aristocratical branch of the same family lived in the Ordona Province. Ths is due to the pictures with Ordon goats, and the presence of Ordon cheese that you find.

Since they have a different crest from the Hyrule Royal Family, best seen in the fireplace in the room where Yeta sits, I can be certain it wasn't just another castle of the Royal Family.

The southern section, where the stone walls and battlements are, faces the Gerudo Mesa. This makes me think it was a military outpost to contain Gerudo aggression.

I call this family the Ordona Royal Family.

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

I have a couple of guesses.
First off, we know the previous owners/occupants were Hylian/Human as the furniture was made for humanoids.
Yeto is also wearing a saddle on his head, so they were able to get up there by horse at one point.
I would almost be willing to guess it was some noble family, well travelled by all the pictures ( which are just screen captures of TP's Hyrule ) and wealthy by the size of the place and the amenities. I would almost think it could have been an alternate royal residence/home ( like Balmoral for the English royalty ) but I don't think I saw the Royal Crest anywhere. It also clearly doubled as a fortress given the armory and cannon's. Maybe it was originally built to oversee the Peak province, and the mansion was the home of the governing nobility. But overtime as Hyrule went downhill ( TP Hyrule has many ruins and abandoned places ) it was abandoned.

It's there. There are at least two or three places where you can see a crest. The most convenient being in the sort of living room where Yeta sits. In the fireplace behing the fire.

I just went to see it for myself.
I'm still thinking a governing provincial nobility, possibly who are also a family of knights. ( the fighting type crest )
In order for Hyrule to lay claim to remote territories like that, they'd need a show of force, hence a fortress.

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

Well, there are multiple cannons and 2 fireplaces, the doors are the same as Hyrule Castle's except for the snowflake crest. There are multiple flags hanging on the walls with the Hyrule crest. with all the holes in the cieling, walls and floor i'd bet the reason it was abandoned was because they were under attack from someone. Another thing though is those giant cages which seem pretty mysterious. Also it looks like the room where you get the Big Key is a church or gathering room of somekind, though since they live in the mountains there couldn't have been enough people to fil the whole room.

EDIT: The cages are in the mini boss room and the other 2 are up the spiral walkway that have the 2 Ice Breathers in them. Also it makes me wonder, the doorsa to the mini boss room are noticably bigger then all the others, so I wonder if maybe a large beast was once kept in there.

I think I agree with this. Your arguments are pretty persuading. Of course I'll be looking out for other statements if this topic stays alive.

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

I don't think it was a military outpost, aside from the canons, it seems be a bad design fortress. It could have been built as a house and then turned into a fort. Judging by the high altitude, it would be a good place to put artillary, thus explianing the canons.

The stone fortification and arsenal face the desert. What better position is there north of the desert?

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

While running around in here, I noticed a portrait of the sacred grove above the ordon pumpkin chest, and if i'm not mistaken, It looks like midna is in it with to black colored warriors. Maybe Gaurds? And now, across from that painting in the room is a painting of Arbiters grounds it looks like.

EDIT: and in the living room theres paintings of arbiters grounds, ordon goats and a Darknut? + a painting of Hyrule castle.

EDIT 2: and in the main rom it looks like a picture of a zora.

I'm not saying it wasn't used as a base, I'm saying it wan't designed to be a base. It became a base later.
By the way, I noticed there a george washington pictures in the boss room. The same picture is also in Jovanis house.

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

I believe it was ashei's house. Her father was a soldier and lived in the mountain. Also, the "helmet" she uses to cover from cold is kind of "yeti style". So I canīt discard the idea that yetto IS ashei's father. Though I donīt know what happened to him.

I also believe the Ashei is a member of that family. I really doubt Yeto is her father, though. His wife is another Yeti.

The helmet could be yeti styled to scare intruders, as Yetis are possibly the most dangerous things on Snowpeak.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the armor that's in many rooms is made for dinofos. The helmets look made for lizard heads, and the soldier you get the B&C from has a tail.

I don't know what that's about.

How is a yeti saposed to have a duaghter that is not a yeti? She is obviously half hylian half human (her ears are slightly pointy like a hylians, but also rounded like a humans)

Re: Snowpeak Ruins

I don't know. As you may see in the dungeon, the Yeti people seem to make good use of the house-wares around them. So it's yet to be confirmed that they where not the first owners of the place. But the male Yeti was making soup which looked pretty darn good. So they are obviously up to date on cooking. In my opinion.

Because I donīt discard the idea that Yetto was (maybe) human once.
Yetta is certainly more human than Yetto, so maybe they're slowly turning because of a curse.
