2 Questions about Arbiter's Ground flashback

1. What was Ganondorf being punished for here? I was under the impression that when Link ended OoT, he warned the king successfully and got Ganondorf banished from the castle, giving him no chance to touch the Triforce. This is the same Ganon as OoT Ganon, right? Is he being punished for doing bad things as the leader of a band of thieves? The only answer that cannot be true here is that he was being punished for taking part of the Triforce, which leads to my next question . . .

2. How did he get the ToP? Did he do what he did in OoT, but without getting his wish granted (is that even possible?)?

Help me out here please . . .

GODS OF HYRULE! (I thought this was obvious)...

1. He was punished for trying to take over the Sacred Realm. (If you're a linearist, he was taken out of the Sacred/Evil Realm to 'face justice', If you're a splitist, same thing (In the 'adult' timeline.))

2. He had the Triforce of Power, and the other two pieces went to those chosen by destiny. (Again, if you're a splitist, in the Adult timeline)

If he was punished for trying to take over the Sacred Realm (as in trying to get in there and failing), then how did he get his piece?

If he was being served justice for his crimes when he took over Hyrule, then how come the Sages were not aware of his piece of the Triforce? The Triforce is something that Sages are familiar with, and its involvement in his crime would be well known to them.

Twilight takes place at least a century after Ocarina. This is an entirely 'new', or 'different', set of sages. More than enough time could have passed for information like that to fade away in the 'mysts of myths' (Or, there is more than one set at any given time, with only one set being involved in any given legend.

OoT-pre ALttP-ALttP: The Sealing Sages
TWW: The Empowering Sages
FSA: The Shrine Maidens
TP: The Twilight Sages
AoL: The Wise Men
OoX-TMC: The 'Sages of the Goddesses' (Oracles))

Also, Ganon did not succeed in his bid to control the Sacred Realm. The Sage Rauru states this in Ocarina. One does not need to 'take over' to get a piece of the Triforce. (The triforce's seperation in the Manner of the Sheikan legend only occurs once, as Ganon 'learned' that you need to value the three forces equally.)

So this brings up the question of why these sages are aware of his old crimes against the Sacred Realm but unaware of what he got there, why he was trying to get in there, or why there is a sacred realm.

After thinking about it, though, I think I may have it. He was probably arrested for being a magic-wielding king of thieves, which in and of itself sounds like a relatively innocuous thing, but serious enough for a slaying before the sealing away of his corpse. The ToP only kicked in when he was dealt a mortal wound, which could mean that Ganondorf lacks conscious or full control over it, seeing as how he might have preferred using it before this point to kill his guard(s) and make a run for it.

Is there any issue with this possibility?

None whatsoever, although it is safe to say that the Twilight Sages probably would have killed him just for being in the Sacred Realm. (Kinda like how you react to a rat in the kitchen.)

Re: 2 Questions about Arbiter's Ground flashback

But isn't it usually obvious when someone gets to the Triforce? How could they be caught off guard if they knew that he was in there? For them to be caught by surprise requires that they be unaware of his intrusion into the Sacred Realm. I think knowledge of the Sacred Realm comes part and parcel with knowledge of the Triforce.

Nobody notices the change from Golden Land to Dark World, only that there is a 'realm beyond sight' that holds the 'Golden Power' (Again, this takes place a century after this stuff was common knowledge'.)
