Catch the Hylian Loach, without any lures or bait!

Tired of having an empty gap in your fishing journal because you just don't seem to be able to catch the Hylian Loach?

Don't want to spend a 1000 rupees on rollgoal?
Don't want to cheat with the sinking lure?
Don't like worms or bees?

Than I have the solution!

Just go see the spirit Lanayru, as you know she lives in a little lake, go fish there you don't need any worms, bee larva or anything your fishing rod will do fine.

Throw it in and you will see a long fish swimming towards the dobber. Real it in and a 15 inch Hylian Loach is yours, it may not feel very rewarding but atleast you didn't cheat.

Are you sure? Only 15 inches? I've caught Reekfish bigger than that. Of course, I'll try it out, but I'd rather use the frog lure.

Yep, 15 inches it is really that small.

Those are Loach Fry. The REAL loach can only be found during the summer in the Fishing hole, towards the back, when the lillipads appear.

Can you catch it without a sinking lure or a frog lure?

And how do you get the sinking lure anyway?

what he means is that loach near lanayru is a small fry compared to the 27 inch loach caught in the fishing hole

Read the description of the fish wen you catch it. It will say "This is the fry of the legendary loach".

Blue Knight is right. I have caught the "fry" just by walking in the fishing pond and going to the end, past the bridge were you catch the bottle. You don't even need bait.

Look at the trees in the Fishing Pond. It only happens there. Unfortuneatly, I only get there during Spring and Fall D:

Whoa....never noticed that. TP is full of suprises isn't it? I agree though. They really should have done the whole game with seasons. That might have made us wait longer tho....and that would not have been cool....

There ARE baby loaches somewhere. I think if you're a wolf and dig into a pit you can then fish there and they pop up everywhere, but they really don't count for much. I'd use em as bait to catch the mommy fish XD

The start of the thread was talking about catching 'The Hylian Loach' without bait or lures. What was refered to was not THE loach, but the smaller young version which are no trouble catching at all, hense a relativley poinless thread. I was going to answer your question with a link to the thread about catching the real Loach, but i couldnt relocate it, and a link within another thread did not work either. So in short i'll tell you what to do:

First of all it must be the season of Summer within the Fishing Hole, which can be determined by leaving and re-entering the Fishing Hole door. Summer is when everything looks its greenest and there is a large group of lily pads in the far right hand (GCUBE version) side of the pond. This is the only place they are known to reside, and ONLY in the Summer season.

The next important thing is that you need to have either the Frog Lure, aquired by beating the 'RollGoal' game that Hena makes, or the Sinking Lure, found by bobber fishing around the pond. Note that the Sinking Lure makes it overall easier, so for abit more of a challenge use the Frog Lure.

OK so now you have what you need, get in the boat and head to lily pads. The Loach covers quite a big area and is not all that easy to see under the lily pads, so keep casting the rod until it is in view, then it's a case of waiting. It is not difficult to catch, and should find it will bite soon enough if youv'e cast reasonably close to it. Once he bites you shouldn't find it much harder than the standard fish to reel in, and no different techniques are needed.
