Thumbs up Positives on TP

Even though there were some minor flaws in TP, the game was amazing and deserves credit for its highlights.

Graphics: people complain about choppy and muddy graphics in this game when in truth, this game had better texturing than some next gen games. Also the lihting and shadows were impressive. character animation was smooth and flowed nicely. the graphics in TP are awesome.

Gameplay: The swordfighting gave a lot of choices in technique to the user. Being a wolf seemed very doglike and realistic. The dungeons were challenging at times and were very unique(using a staircase to channel water was cool). The game kept you excited all the time.

Storyline/Plot and Characters: The storyline was simple but very nice. The character development was wondeful (I really like colin and midna). The game was very good at evoking emotion. Characters such as skull kid seemed very mysterious. Overall This element of the game was I think, the best part of TP

Re: Positives on TP

Except for the lack of sidequests and easy difficulty, I consider pretty much all the game to be a positive

Thumbs up TP

So many people say that OOT is better than TP, however I say TP was an all round positive as OOT had some negatives. (However MM is still my favorite :-] )

-The combat in TP is really fun! All the moves you learn really add depth to the battles; plus, they look really cool. It's a major improvement over the other Zelda games' combat.

-I like how they added little details like how Link twirls his sword after you defeat and enemy, and how he holds his sword up and charges forward when on Epona if you pull out your sword while galloping. Little details like that make the game more enjoyable for me.

-the graphics are top notch for the GameCube, and the style is very pretty. The Twilight Realm's saturated look is simple stunning!

Re: Positives on TP

I don't think TP is that easy (everybody keeps saying that it is easy). It may be that folks who have played OOT have gained experience w/ the type of play. My only experience before TP was ALttP... and I would say that the difficulty is similar.

The cut scenes in TP are really great!

Just to be fair, I should put something negative here, too; I don't like the control method for the bow. Made one of the dungeons a real hassle.

Yes, the game's difficulty isn't really that different from OoT, but many of us have played at least 4 Zelda games or more before TP, so it becomes much easier

While the game is not to blame for that, I think Nintendo should realize that players get better, and as a consequence add difficulty levels or just make the game harder

Maybe you could take a quiz at the start of the game and it affects the difficulty level. Newbies like me can play the novice version; and you all could do the tough stuff.

Overall, I'm quite enjoying the way that TP is like a movie that I get to participate in.

I have to say that I had very few negatives for Twilight Princess. Though to say its better than Ocarina of Time is insane!! If you're referring to anything graphics-wise or something of that nature, you have to remember the limits they had in gaming when OoT was made, and therefore its not fair to judge on that principle. Though in the end, between OoT & TP its hard to choose between the two for my favorite.

swordfighting on horseback is one of the best new ideas.

I still say TP is better than OOT, but not by Graphics. I just say by storyline, cause its way better than OoT's. Trust me, I know after playing OoT 7-10 times.

Re: Positives on TP

It's good to see a positive TP thread among all the TP-bashing in this forum. Bear in mind, though, that there is already a thread for TP positives and negatives. I myself love the graphics; better couldn't have been done on the GameCube, and they are better than some Wii games like Wii Sports. Also, the story and (mostly) the characters. The monsters are good design too. And the gameplay is great; fishing is worthy of a game of its own.

Besides the lack of sidequests, I have no complaints.

What I would really like to see is a hard mode, maybe unlockable like the one in Metroid Prime. The difficulty is my only complaint for that otherwise great game. I don't know why people insist on complaining about the lack of sidequests, there were plenty for me:
45 pieces of heart
24 golden bugs
60 poes
fishing
Canoing minigame
goat-herding
the star minigame in castle town
yeti racing
plumm's balloon popping
Falbi's flight by fowl
the vast Hyrule Field, filled with secrets
Cave of Ordeals

I'm sure there are some I'm not even mentioning, tell me if there are

I think you don't know exactly what a sidequest is: It's like doing small jobs for NPCs, that involve going to a certain place/minidungeon, getting certain item for him, talking to other NPCs, etc... Of course that comes with a reward, that could be a Piece Of Heart or even a Sword for the hardest sidequest. It's like MM's system
That would make Hyrule feel much more lively, and NPCs would actually have some use instead of just being there filling a space. I know it seems RPGish, but I think it's just perfect for an adventure game

What you mentioned are collectibles and minigames. I agree that TP's Hyrule is far from empty, but it would have been much better if it had a questing system

Re: Positives on TP

Aside from the inclusion of terrible characters, the scarcity of fun dugneons, the boring overworld, the miserable story, the absolutely annoying HDR-ish effects, the nonsense plot, the shoddy controls, the despicable Wii remote sound for the Wii version, the horrible wolf segments, the lack of depth, the lack of mood, the lack of functioning climax, the lack of interesting enemies, and some other things, it was a pretty good game. Gotta love Link's and Epona's controls (GCN). A lot of the music, albeit unorchestrated, was great.

I've also played OoT that many + more times and its never gotten old for me. Both game's storylines are excellent and different from each other, therefore hard to compare, in my opinion.

Perhaps after playing TP 7-10 times you will have the same opinion about THAT game?
