Water Temple in the windwaker

Isn't it odd that, in a game based COMPLETELY around water, there is no water based dungeon. I was looking foward to and awesome (traditionally) challenging water temple in WW!!!!! but no. Does anyone else think this is really stupid?

Re: Water Temple in the windwaker

The water temple was probably located on Great Fish Isle.

Seeing as how link can't swim properly a 'water based' temple would be horrible.

Yes. They took out the swim function to keep you from swimming to islands before getting the boat. So they couldn't do a proper Water Temple.

On the other hand, in ALttP you get flippers that let you swim around. They could have just made Gyorgs or Octoroks more numerous to keep yu from trying to swim to the next island.

I think after SAILING ON WATER for 70% of the game, you would be tired of water. Tower of the Gods was mostly water, until you started going higher.

I was disappointed that you couldn't dive. I really would like to catch a glimpse of a place in Hyrule.

Of course it wouldn't! You've got a boomerang that can target five enemies at once. Really, I was talking about the places that didn't have any enemies between islands. Just make sure to put a few Gyrogs in each square.

Re: Water Temple in the windwaker

It's likely Greatfish Isle was gonna have a water dungeon, but, considering how rushed that section of the game was the fact we know several dungeons were cut from the game (I don't have a link, sorry), the TWW Water Temple was one of them. Shame, it might've helped the a lot, having at least one difficult dungeon...

Re: Water Temple in the windwaker

The 3rd gem you get(Nayru's gem or something?) should have been in a dungeon. It would have been much better than visiting some random fish. Oh well, that's just one of the many things that dissapointed in TWW

HA! That would remind me of the movie Water World...

Hmmm even with flippers, I think it would still be possible to have a water dungeon. In OoA, Link had to upgrade his flippers into a mermaid suit for him to swim into deep waters. Even though we're talking about a three dimensional world, I think it could still be possible to have some sections where Link can swim/dive.

For example, if the water is clear (meaning you can see down to the bottom), then you can swim and dive with the flippers. However, if the water isn't clear (like the ocean water outside), then you only have a limited amount of time to swim on it (and never dive).

I liked that particular part of the game after you visited Great Fish Isle for the first time. Racing on the stormy seas was totally rad.

I think that would've been somewhat frustrating to have multiple water conditions because it just doesn't seem logical. If I can dive here, then I expect to be able to diver there too. The concept is kinda similar to Rarewares special pad solution (jump-pads, flying pads etc...) that nobody likes.

Re: Water Temple in the windwaker

They could have just given you flippers before the third dungeon so you could swim for an unlimited amount of time. And they could have kept the sea's water opaque, but made the water in the water dungeon clear so you'd know you could dive in it. Or maybe in clear water, you just wouldn't have a time limit.

Would've worked out fine, but they rushed the game out.

Re: Water Temple in the windwaker

Yeah I got tired of all the water in the game since I had to spend 5 minutes of doing nothing but watching Link sail everytime I went to a new island. I would not want a water temple in TWW the game was fine as it was.

Re: Water Temple in the windwaker

Like someone here already said, the Tower of Gods was a semi-Water Temple. But I think that they could've put a Water Temple where you meet that giant fish (I forgot the place's name). It was so easy getting that third gem. It needed a temple.

nintendo made it like that so he can't swim all the way to place you're not supposed to get to.

Also, has anyone noticed that the one game comprised almost entirely of ocean, was the one major game where there was NO fishing?
