Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the music in some parts (i.e. Death Mountain, Main Menu), but in my second play through I'm finding some of the Synthesized music rather annoying.
For example, I just played through Link's first visit to the Twilight Realm where he meets Midna and Zelda and all that good stuff. While I was playing through this part I stopped to listen to the music and I was like "what the crap?". It just sounds uber weird with all the fake noises and I think it really detracts from the mood of mystery in the first twilight realm visit. The first time I played this I should've been thinking "this is weird an creepy and I wonder what's going on." not "get me out of here so I don't have to listen to this music anymore". I think Nintendo really should have gone with a full orchestra on this one... seriously it's 2006. Does anyone else share my opinion? btw I'm talking about the music when you're out on the castle roofs.

yea, I understand what you're saying. I just think it would have been better with an orchestra.

I don't think the lack of orchestration bugged me as much as the lack of . . . audibility.
The dungeon tracks are too minimalist for their own good. Music is important when trying to create an engrossing atmosphere, and the dungeon bgm did not draw me in like it did with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. |

Re: Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
I think they should use a combination of orchestra and midi. While that seems odd...I mean, there's just some sounds you can't get without midi...I guess.
You can see how I'm not a music expert. ![]() The music in the Twilight Realm...okay, I have to say I wasn't a fan of it. If they used something but still wanted it to sound 'exotic' or freaky, they should've used that sort of twangy chinese violin music they used in majora's mask but ran through with a...synthesizer. I DUNNO. Again, I’m not a music expert. D:

Re: Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
I totally agree with you. I thought the same thing. But, only some things were weird. Everything else was amazing.
Ya know what music I thought was weird? The battle with I mean, drums?! It was really odd for me. Today I got the 'Official' Twilight Princess Sountrack. Hm. Let me tell you, I wansn't pleased. There was like 6 tracks, and all of them were pretty much village themes, except they had the Midna and Ilia theme also. I was excpecting this graaaand CD, but it was just...not. You know the music when you beat TP? Well, I think it's absolutely wonderful. But, it wasn't on the CD. Quote:
So, just becuase there wasn't orchestrated music in the places you metioned, there is plenty elsewhere that you can listen to. ![]() |

Re: Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
I thought the twilight theme was one of the best tunes in the game.
Twilight Princess's problem with the soundtrack is one that it shares with both Majoras Mask and The Wind Waker, it's a recycle-fest. They really need to drop the remixer act and go back to being composers. They're not succeeding in making me nostalgic when these new rearangements are inferior to the original tunes. TP had some great new songs too, but except from the overworld theme they were all carefully so that you wouldn't be able to notice them. Let's all hope that the next big Zelda game, at max recycles 4 tunes. Quote:

Re: Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
What was wrong with the TR music? I think it perfectly suited the surreal atmosphere of the place. The point of it wasn't to sound epic and sweeping. Though the amount of recycled music was a disappointment. I found it ok in TWW, since OoT was very relevent to that game. In TP it just seems to be there for gross fanservice.

I looves the music when Link gets the Fused Shadows/Mirror Shards. It so SPOOOOOKY!
Anywho the music In the Twilight realm is perfect. Its twisted and weird sounds for a twisted and weird place. Its great! I think it adds the right mood. !~Hurricane

It would be foolish to say orchestration wouldn't be better in the game, but it would also be foolish to say the music in TP as it is is bad.
As far as the Twilight Realm music: It's not bad either. It's perfect for the surreal nature of the Realm.

Oh yea! I forgot about that. Yea I really liked the post-dungeon theme. But that's just one. Also, as far as Midna's theme goes... I like the note sequence... but it seems like it wasn't capitalized on.

Re: Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
Excluding the temple music, I thought all TP's bgm was pretty good fitting the setting perfectly. Now, there were no original tunes as catchy as the Dark World theme, Saria's Song, or the Song of Storms, but I thought all the music just fit the scene/setting fine. Faron Woods, Hyrule Field, Gerudo Desert, the Twilight Realm-- the BGM for all of them fit the atmosphere perfectly. Too bad the dungeon music was so dull, I was hoping for something better after OoT, MM, and even WW's dungeon music.

Re: Does anyone else think that the music really hurt TP in some parts.
I don't find music the most important element in a Zelda game. No TP didn't have any really fantastic music that was catchy and stuck in your head but it was still good and matched well with the places you're in.
