In TP, did any one else notice...

...that the shadow beasts in the cutscene of Zant storming hyrule castle that have the really shiney masks are never actual enemys in the game

i remember wanting to fight them, but realised when i beat the game that i never was able to

I think they're just ordinary Shadow Assasins, which you do fight. The shininess was probably for cinematics.

wait, what? You mean the shadow craetures that are constantly attacking you throughout the game by trapping you in a red cage? Cause those are there. Or are the ones near Zant different somehow, I don't really remember...

I'll have to watch it again... maybe Klew's right, and they just got a makeover for the cinematic? Again, I'll have to see it again sometime...

Because it was a cutscenen, graphics are supposed to be better (i suppose) to make it a better viewing experience. Anyway its a movie file being accessed, so graphics arent really being rendered, opening room for better cinematics with better recorded visuals

Re: In TP, did any one else notice...

I know exactly what you're talking about, BlackHayate0. I have to say that I was dissipointed not be given a chance to fight them as well. In case anyone else was wondering, he's talking about the two creatures that were at Zant's flank during the 'Zant Conquers Hyrule' Cutscene. They had smooth head plates with a helix design on them, kind of like the design associated with Apollo. I thought they would be included after the others were able to be taken down with a single sword strike. They do look bigger when shown side by side with the others, don't they? One would assume they would be stronger too. Oh well, live and let die.

It would have been cool though.

Re: In TP, did any one else notice...

Yes, I noticed them too. I was expecting to come face to face with them just before you battle Zant in the Twilight Palace and was a bit confused when there was no sign of them.

Hmmm... I don't swallow the idea of them being 'prettied' up for the cinematic, because they differ quite significantly from the other Twilight Warriors you battle. I'll have to have a think on this, I can't seem to come up with a decent explanation for them disappearing ^^'

Re: In TP, did any one else notice...

This is completely speculation but i think it's an alright assumption due to the lack of any concrete evidence:

they may be the rulers of the twilight before Midna was appointed and Zant kept them as his personal servants for his own amusement and that is why you never fight them because they are significant to the twili.

Re: In TP, did any one else notice...

I think Zant would have just whacked Midna's parents. But yes, I did want to fight them. While I was on my second playthrough, I kept a close eye out for them in case I killed them right before Zant's room in the swarm, but to no avail. Those guys were cool, and helped build Zant's image since he had some pimpin' posse following him around.

On the subject of the Twili, after pondering that the "peaceful light" of the Twilight Realm might have been some form of brainwashing, and Zant's pre-battle comments, the Twilight Realm sounds kind of like 1984. Think about it; floating around in a void without any lakes, trees, or animals, and a possibly manipulative sky (like some mind-numbing drug) sounds like it's trying to make the people used to rather poor, bland living conditions. Since the Twili also seem rather spaced out after you save them, maybe they were subjected to some 1984-like aimless, drugged lifestyle by the Goddesses, as if they were trying to weaken and sterile some caged beast. Adding on to the fact is that the people of Hyrule seemed to not notice the Twilight and lived their lives not caring about it, just like 1984. Kakariko looks rather ragged (though it was attacked after all) as well. Now, I know this likely isn't the case, but it does provide some interesting speculation.
