Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
After seriously thinking today - what Zelda Games I have prefered and enjoyed much more in a rank order; Wind Waker still comes first.
Without a doubt, countless people in this Forum will disagree with me, and disvalue my opinion. But, I've played Ocarina and completed it, LTTP and completed it, Majora's Mask, compleed it - and way over half way through Twilight Princess. But why do I still prefer Wind Waker? Because it's a more fun, approach to the franchise. I think I'm still attracted to the bold risk Nintendo took with the Cartoony Cel Shading - and seriously going against most OOT Fan's by not making a 'True' Ocarina sequel. I'm sure this post will be disapproved when I complete TP. But; in my eyes; at this current time. WW is superior. :/

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
Yay first post!! Well if you are a serious Zelda player then you would choose one of the more mature games. Even though I am not saying WW wasnt' mature it was just childish looking.

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
Meh... I disgust myself when I say this but.... I liked wind waker better than TP. (ZOMG!!!) Although the game was very short, I thought it had a more unique feel to it and the world felt like an actual world. I also thought the WW story was more engaging.
My Zelda list is as follows: 1:Ocarina of Time 2:Wind Waker 3:Twilight Princess

That was the point I wanted to get across. The game is more engaging and has a realistic feel to it, it feels genuine - and to concur with a Review I once read 'after you complete the game, you feel like you have saved the Land from Evil - and you are the Hero.'

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
cmon ppl wind waker was soooo boring. TP is way better. Please give proof of why you like tWW more.
Reasons TP is better: 1) more mature and realistic graphics 2) horse riding with sword combat instead of an annoying talking boat. 3) new original enemy i.e. zant 4) More dungeons 5) epic boss battles 6) sword fight between link and ganon was a million times better 7) more challenging to get more life (5 pieces instead of four) 8) in TP you don't have to go around looking for triforce shards. 9) noooooo tingle!!! wooohoooo (well i actually kinda like tingle) koooloooo limpa 10) more people in general. Windwaker had few inhabited islands. 11) world design... Why would there be an island in the middle of each square on a map? well that should be ebough for now |

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
I enjoyed TWW a lot more than I enjoyed TP. I don't know why, but TWW really felt like Zelda, and its graphics were really smooth and pleasant. I loved sailing and all the items in that game.
I'm not really on the look for "mature" games, truth be told I found TP disappointing. In fact, I don't seek to be mature at all, all I want to do is have fun and be myself.

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
1: The world in Wind Waker was more engaging. (All those towers and forts that you could loot and the islands you could visit)
2: Having a boat was more original than a horse (OoT did the horse thing first) 3: More sidequests in general. (You had to work for every heart piece) 4: More fleshed out characters. (Windfall Island is the best assemblage of characters and sidequests in any zelda game) 5: You get to search for Triforce shards (This breaks the Zelda mold and is very original. Although it's very annoying when you replay the game it was awesome the first time through) 6: You feel like the world is actually in danger (Great Fish Isle, Forest Island... yeah.) 7: WW is plenty epic and it felt like it had a history; like you were unlocking deep dark secrets. (When the tower of the God's came up I was like "no frickin' way!"} In conclusion... Wind Waker was very original but at the same time it was still Zelda and that's what made it fun. The world was more engaging and you actually felt like you were fighting for something. My only beef is that the game is too short. Other than that it's great. Twilight princess is just a close copy of the OoT formula that tries to rise above but falls flat. ...and yes I did play TP all the way through.

The search for separate pieces of the triforce was similar to the first Legend of Zelda.

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
To Albert:
- searching for the triforce shards was totally lame. - And in TP you don't feel like the world is in danger? children have been kidnapped and twilight is engulfing parts of hyrule. The monarchy was overthrown by a team of the greatest villains (zant + Ganondorf) - lol how is tWW not a copy of OoT? its identical to it except for all the water. it has zoras, gorons, the deku tree, ganondorf, zelda, ganons tower, three pearls/stones of the godesses, jabun is the same as jabu jabu. - The whole sailing gimik wore off after about two seconds. - you cant even use weapons while sailing. you have to stop to use the cannon booooo! - tower of the gods is no more epic than the palace of twilight or city in the sky. - TP had better mini-games. the only thing i see that is better is the closeness to sum side characters and more sidequests with them |

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
I was kinda comparing to TP and I was kinda talking in 3D Zelda terms. But what makes the triforce search in WW different is that it's in the ocean and finding almost every piece is a unique quest.

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
All the Zelda games are great in their own way, although I still believe OOT wins over them all. Although WW was miles from Zelda's tradition graphically, it felt very I dunoo, shique (sp??); there was a clean, kinda bright and (nicely) foreign quality about it. Compared, TP feels dirty (lol)

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
Umm, what makes you think wed disvalue your opinion. Going against the norm is okay, i do it all the time. I personally like WW too, Oot was jhust the first zleda ive ever played and it was too captivating. WW is definitely the best in terms off sidequests after doing the entire statue collection in 1 play through. i was soo amazed and happy with that game. it didnt loiok childish either mr. first post whatever. if you dont like it then i guess your not that much if a zelda fan. play it for the game and franchise, not how it looks

Re: Yeah. Still prefer Wind Waker.
Indeed... -_- *nod*
Even though I THOUROGHLY enjoyed TP, TWW still has it's charms. Maybe because it's not much of a challenge anymore. That makes it verrrry enjoyable. You made a very good point. Also, I never judge games by their graphics, so the cel-shading wasn't an issue for me. I actually loved the idea. It gave the game a new, brighter feel. So I agree and disagree. I DO love TWW, but TP is still on the top for me at the moment. |
