Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

TP had such easy dungeons (I think most would agree) and a high number of boss fights.

Was this good?

Or was it uneven and difficult this way? In my opinion, the boss fights are always the most exciting parts of the game. It's nice to play detective around the dungeon and solve the problems I encounter, but the boss fights are always the best action and what I'm looking forward to.

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

Ehh, it was bad and good. I felt the game didn't have very challenging puzzles. Whenever I got stuck in a dungeon, which was like, three times maybe, it was always because I just overlooked something. Like in the Lakebed Temple, in the main room with the revolving stairs, after I got the clawshot I was looking for something to do, something to make water flow or something. And the answer was this grate hidden on like the bottom floor. It was just hard to find, not a puzzle.

If the temples had more puzzles, but stayed with that amount of bosses and the like, it'd be much better. The bosses in the game were awesome. Granted, they were easy, and I never died during any of them, and I always knew how to beat them like, instantly, but they were still well designed and some quite epic.

I don't quite recall that temple, but if I do remember correctly, my feelings toward it were very negative. I remember it being challenging in a quite annoying and frustrating manner, instead of in a captivating, 'make-you-think' manner.

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

Zelda has been very easy in the dungeon department since OoT. Sure the Water Temple took some time to finish but during that time most people felt more annoyed than challenged. Switching boots on and off and raising/lowering water levels was a pain.

Actually, I don't really mind that the dungeon difficulty is low in TP because the dungeons are interesting and some even offer a mini-plot or a task that the entire dungeon and its puzzles revolves around.

Like Raunm said, if you get stuck in the dungeons.. it's probably because you missed something, not because of the puzzles.. what a shame =/

I really think the bosses should be more difficult. It shouldn't be difficult to figure out how to kill them, but they could take away more hearts for each hit and also get more hits on Link.

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

Temples were somewhat easy, however I had alot of fun in them. Maybe I am not as clever as the rest of you but I did get stuck in some places. Mostly because I over looked something.

Well it could have had more puzzles and the bosses could be a bit harder. However atleast they were fun.

I thought Twilight Princess was the easiest Zelda game I've played, but it makes up for it in many ways. It's still my favorite one so far.

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

I would like a high number of boss fights and challenging dungeons.

I think the dungeons should be hard from the beginning. The first dungeon of every game is always extremely easy. Nintendo needs to start making these games for the die hard fans who already know how to play Zelda games.

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

I think dungeons should be really hard, but short. ANyway, as for TP, I thought it was pretty good. I like dungeons, but my favourite part has always been the boss fight. So cleaning house in the dungeon then fighting an epic, albiet easy boss was perfect for me.

I liked it how in general, the dungeons in TP were medium difficulty, and not torture (Water Temple in OOT).

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

Yeah all the dungeons were good. Except... the Snowpeak Ruins, City in the Sky and Hyrule Castle.

The Snowpeak Ruins did not fit with the original idea of TP and nor did the City in the Sky. Actually, the whole idea of the two was just a waste of time because when you got there it was a dissapointment. Not only that... Hyrule Castle was a complete dissapointment too. If you haven't noticed yet, just be looking at Hyrule Castle, say about 10 to 50 metres in distance away you can tell all the textures are bad on the walls on the outside. Also, everything outside looked choppy and dull. And what made it worse was that it was raining. They could have really made an amazing castle (without it raining) and made the inside even more excellent. What about Zelda's throne room? Even more dull. Everything looked dull and choppy in there too. Yet every other part of the game looks amazing.

Oh and what about Fyrus; how cell shaded did he look when he wasn't on fire? And he didn't even look solid.

Then when Nintendo had the perfect chance to make an amazing boss; they do it with the Lakebed Temple and it does look quite amazing, but it didn't even attack, it just swims around waiting for you to attack it.

Although they stuffed the City in the Sky up, they could have easily have made Argorok better. Compared to the dragon in TWW, it was nothing. It was just an oversized lizard thing which didn't actually look that impressive. It didn't blow fire enough either. Also the City in the Sky could have looked amazing and the Oocca could have been amazing people with large feathery wings in shining silvery armour.

Also, why was the City in the Sky shaped like an egg and the colour of an egg? Or did they just base it off one of those ancient Chinese beliefs how the world was made and it was created when the two gods hatched out of the egg and the universe was created?

Also, I have a problem with the monster variety. We get rats, a few dolphins, Liazalfos which are barely bigger than Link, a couple of Darknuts, About three or four good mini-bosses, some stupid bokoblins and thats it. Oh and those really badly designed birds that attack you at Hyrule field. Come on, I thought we were going to get amazing monsters. Things that actually looked good.

Next time Nintendo; give us properly designed monsters (employ some artists maybe?), No stupid dungeons like the City in the Sky, Hyrule Castle and Snowpeak Ruins and if you can't come up with any better ideas to getting the mirror shards, then just shorten it up and make the first four dungeons longer...

See, TP fell very short are the Mirror Shard hunt. Yes, they meant well by giving all the more serious Zelda fans extra dungeons for more of a challenge, but the original concept of Twilight Princess ran out. That beautiful feeling it had of being about a ranchboy living in a province of pristine farmland and then having to send a gift to the royal family. Now that, had potential! The dusk of Twilight falling over Hyrule was great to carry this out, but we got to fight bugs just so the game could be rushed up to forest temple, the two awesome horse battles and to get on with the story. Then theres really nothing more spectacular in between all the mirror shard hunting. Yeah the idea was good, but they could have added some more storyline things in between at least. Instead of the game getting more and more exciting at reaching that pinnacle it has at the end like a good novel does, it does the wrong this by bringing it down and then the game reaches the pinnacle (the ending) without any build-up of excitement.

But to me TP just gives off the impression that Nintendo are going to do much bigger and better things with the future of the series. In fact, I want to see the whole element of the dungeons going and using other ways to create the gameplay while it still uses puzzle solving ways to proceed further.

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

(spoilers below)

No offense, but you seem pretty nit-picky about all this...

Honestly, though, if you think about the storyline, they could have done a LOT better. When Wolf Link headbutts the dark power Zant has, in Lanayru's Shrine, a shard of it gets embedded into his head, right? They could have gone with a whole new direction with that, where he actually uses that power against Zant and Ganondorf. They also could have added more dungeons into the Twilight Realm. Snowpeak Ruins and the Temple of Time were awesome in originality, but the City in the Sky could have been done away with, and replaced with a dungeon in the Twilight Realm. What's wrong with having to reassemble a mirror with three shards instead of four? It would definitely be more symbolic anyways, considering the Triforce is made up of three attributes...

Re: Easy dungeons, an abundance of bosses

Yeah I thought the Snowpeak Ruins was really cool and cleverly designed. Hyrule Castle was also well designed, just too short and easy. And I think Fyrus was SUPPOSED to look sort of see through and unsolid, being basically just a goron with a bunch of twilight built on. And the game was made for GC, so you can't complain about choppy graphics. The graphics were an improvement on the Zelda series itself, not the game system it was on. I don't see why people have to make a big deal with complaining about the games. By far there is way more good stuff than bad stuff in the game.
