Cave of Ordeals

Alrighty, I asked this in a few other threads, but it tends to get ignored.. so yeah.

One quick question, what's the point of completing the Cave 2 times through? I know the bad guys change, but other than that, what's the point?

Re: Cave of Ordeals

I haven't completed it once yet, so I don't know the reward (probably a piece of heart). Those damn Darknut Knights kicked my ass in the 4th area! It was the best half of heart left fight I ever had!

Things like that make completing it fun. If you like combat more then puzzles then thats reason enough.

Re: Cave of Ordeals

The cave of ordeals is a Rip-off Savage Labyrinth

The enemies are similar if not the same mostly.
And I liked the ring of fire blocking the next floor instead of a simple door.

How... off topic. the Cave of Ordeals was intendend to be a Savage Labyrinth rip-off, and also just as fun. Its definately more difficult.

Re: Cave of Ordeals

Completed it today. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse than a Darknut and two Aerofols, it does; three Darknuts. I dread the second attempt.

The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that lots of floors had Freezards. Can't bloody stand Freezards.

Someone who agrees! I had to bust out my Magic Armor and blew 600 rupees on those things!

Re: Cave of Ordeals

I only used the Magic Armor twice. Once against four Lizalfos, then immediately afterwards against five Gibdos. At that point, I was starting to run out of money, so cleared out later rooms as much as possible using Bomb Arrows.

Re: Cave of Ordeals

It's a winning strategy against those ice gimps with the spears. Takes two shots to kill them, but so worth it for an easier fight.

Re: Cave of Ordeals

I actually didnt use the magic armor at all
the redead knights you use the ball and chain on, they wont even be able to scream
and bomb arrow sniping is really the only way to go with the ice javelin guys...
they are much more dangerous than darknuts, those ice dragons too D: hate those.

but i had like 1 and 1/4 row of hearts when i got to the end
never even had to use the fairy tears or chu jelly
used a fairy once though...

Re: Cave of Ordeals

Easy way to get rid of Iron Knuckles: shoot at their feet with Bomb Arrows, and the armour just flies off them. Repeat until they have no armour left. Then instead of Z-targeting them, run around them and slash them. This will either hit them or knock them off balance. If it hits them, Z-target and keep slashing. If it knocks them off balance, start hitting them right away.

Actualy the Savage labyrinth is a rip off of other things.

I remember a friend playing some game. He had to go down 100 or so levels of fighting monsters. After beating the boss at the very end you got some kickass sword.

So yea... the whole Savage Labyrnth/Cave of Ordeals are in no way an original idea.

Re: Cave of Ordeals

I never used the Magic Armor, but I had to use two fairy and a bottle of blue chu jelly to do it. The prize was...a little disappointing. I haven't attempted a second run through yet. As long as there isn't many floors with those damn freezards I should be all right. I've got those darknuts down. The three you fight on the final floor caused me my only death...bastards.

The Ball & Chain does an almighty nice job against them. Either that, or you just go man to man with them. Either way works just fine.

I found that doing a jump-attack (the strong one) is most effective, if both of them are standing together, both are down for good.

Indeed, total waste of time. It's nice to have fairies and that "juice" available. But really, you can only defeat the Cave of Ordeals completely after the City in the Sky. What's the point? Should of done it after way through the game, so you can put them to use.
