Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
Finished the main storyline of TP yesterday...and what can I say. I'm speechless.
The game was not perfect, but it was pretty damn close. I mean really close. Everything in the game was beautiful, while the graphics AREN'T the best, everything was different from each other. All the temples had there own look and feel. Most of the main areas also shared this uniqueness. Hyrule is no where near as big as Oblivion's Cyrodiil, but it's pretty big. Just riding around on Epona is sweet satisfaction. Speaking of satisfaction, all the new sword moves were GREAT. Lots of fun learning new skills, and not to mention once you've learnt them all; you can really pwn up some enemies in a number of different ways. Wolf Link and Midna were great, as excellent pair. And a nice new twist for a companion. Sure beats the crap out of a glowing rock. The Twilight was a lot of fun, but I wished they mixed up the Twilight Battle for the portals a little more. Having three at the start was fine. But I wanted a challenge, give me 9 or 15 at a time already. Zant...he was great at the start. A real scary guy. Meeting him after beating Lakebed was scary...and pretty damn awesome. He reminded me of Darth Vader... a real good replacement for Ganondorf. But once I met him for the boss battle.....I soon realized...HE HAS NO DAMN BALLS. Wtf was up with his voice acting voice? He sounds ridiculous. He's boss fight was kinda lame...but also kinda good at the same time. I'm just glad he was not the final boss. Ganondorf....He was perfect. Going to save sweet Princess Zelda, having some Ganon action was excellent. I was nearly disappointed when Midna was about to take him on...I was hoping that Ganon would pwn her. And how I jumped for joy...when I saw Ganondorf on his AWESOME horse. Nothing could of been better. Then...The final showdown. Exactly how I wanted it...Good old sword show down. I was fighting him for a good 20mins. Just so much fun....And that Chance - is that what it was called? WAS AMAZING! Once I had finished it, I was quite satisfying. Although I did feel TP Link was a real stranger to Princess Zelda, there was any connection. Really felt like we didn't know each other. As if you really HAD to play Ocarina of Time to really understand who she was and what she was doing. Other things I didn't like: 1) Master Sword far to easy to get, I wanted some kind of fight either before or after getting the Master Sword. EG like tWW...A good way to test the MS. 2) Missing that epic music from one of the extended trailers when you see Skull Kid, but all we get is the Saria Song. Quite un-epic; not to mention those guys were far to easy to beat. 3) No 50 enemies on boars VS Link on Epona 4) Sages looked evil - no just ugly. 5) Where were the Gerudo's? I loved it in OoT & MM where you interacted with them. Once your on there side plenty of mini-games and shops. But the desert is just empty once you've bet the dungeon there. All in all, a GREAT game. I can't decide between OoT or TP at the moment. TP will add in the next generation of Zelda fans. Just as LoZ, AlTTP and OoT did for alot of us.

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
I have very mixed feelings about Twilight Princess.
It is the best Zelda ever. Period. They did everything that I could ever dream of in a Zelda game. I could never ask for more! But thats the bad thing. They did everything they didn't leave any room for imagination, they filled it all in for you. Even the bits of voice that we heard, which I liked, but disliked. I felt that in OoT, the story line was few and far between, but great enough to play for. And what wasn't being told in story line you made up. But in Twilight Princess, they follow games of todays standard and fill everything in for you. just look at this thread. I don't see TP getting this kind of thread. I didn't see anything like that. The Unsolved Mysteries of Ocarina Of Time.

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
Now I like to think of myself as the biggest Zelda Fan Ever. Though I'm probably wrong, I like to think of me that way. I am in love with Twilight Princess. But I was somewhat dissatisfied a little.
- I agree with the Master Sword statement above. No big battle to win it? Nothing afterwards to test it? Weak. - Temples seemed short. - Zant's character changed too much to my disliking. - No time of day changing. - Very limited soundtrack. - Indifferent about the ending. - Was it me, or was this too easy? I think I died maybe once? And that was because when I tried to jump off the bridge it wouldn't let me and I got hit by the fire, no gameplay deaths, it was sad. On the other hand, many many things I loved. Some being : - After defeating an enemy, pushing A makes you put the sword away the same way you did after a boss. - Riding Epona was fun, as usual, nice and faster this game, plus the sword fighting was nice. - Of course the controls. - More inventory. Arrows, bombs, wallets, I'm glad to see they put a use to the ruppees. And many more.

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
Minor things I disliked;
-Difficulty Level - This one is a given, but I guess it could have been done as an introduction to the new system. Nevertheless, it should have had levels of difficulty. Nothing was intensely trivial, browsing the spoiler forums before my australian release; I was almost wiping away tears when I had heard someone had spent upto 3-4 hours in the Water Temple, hugely mistaken when I grabbed every chest + finished it in under 50 minutes. Just needed a tiny bit more insaneness, I only died once... in Snowhead when my battery was dying against the armor lizard that drops the ball and chain. /sadface -Ganondorf voice acting was a little sketchy, especially during the cutscene with the sages. -Zant was humanized too suddenly. The cut scene after Lakebed was just amazing when he undid the bottom part of his helmet and the twisted smile with the drool running down, talking to Midna, right before she gets owned... simply amazing, i wish they had kept him that cool -_-. -I also disliked that only certain parts of Hyrule would actually allow time to travel, eg.. day to night, night to day etc. I found myself wanting to visit a shop that only opens during the day and having to switch out to Hyrule field to allow it to come. |

No. It's usually on bigger, more harder enemies he sheathes his sword in a fashionable way.

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
^He only does it if you have the right timing. Right after beating the enemy, at the exact right moment, hit A and he does the little flourish. So you don't always have to do it (also, if you start the flourish and move the controller in the middle, Link will finish without actually sheathing the sword so you can fight more enemies).

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
As long as you time it right, it should work on any enemy. The best way to get a sure one, is like, be sure to kill him and right as they blow off into smoke and stuff, hit A, the easiest way is to do the finish move, then once you land, you just hit A.
I've done it after killing just regular easy guys in Hyrule Field, so i'm pretty sure you can do it for anyone

I think so too. TP beats Ocarina any day, but it was just overhyped to the point where everyone gets really dissapointed about stuff. They expected it to be the greatest game ever made or something.

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
Zant was my new favorite character until I came to battle him, he was so...disturbing! The face was worth hiding behind that mask. He just does all that creepy screaming and bending like the limbo.
Other than that the game was near perfect, I just have to find the Poe souls now and beat that tricky white water rafting game! I found the graphics brilliant and the way the characters move is astounding. Good facial expressions that bring characters to life my only let downs are that he bosses are to easy and I can't find to much else to do other than fight in hyrule field near Eldin bridge.

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
the thing i loved most about TP was beating gAnondorf, not only did he look how i always (since OOT) imagined he was supposed to look, but the horse back fight was awesome (if not a bit too short) and during the horse fight and the sword fight I actually wanted to kill him because i thought he had killed midna, I really wanted him dead, and i was oh so satisfied when he was.
there are a few things that majorly disappointed me, the lack of gerudos ( i thought they were the most awesome EVER) and i was lead to believe by that guy talking about the race in the heavens that when i went to the city in the sky, there would be a city, and people somewhat like Ritos i could talk to. Oh i was disappointed when it was just those ugly non speaking aweful thngs :'( most of the other things i didnt like after thinking about them, usually i find that i can find a reason for it being the way that it is. Like the lack of Hylians in castle town that talk to you - reason? they are all rich snobs! |

Re: Best Zelda Game Ever? Close... *Spoilers? Yes*
I would say this game lands on a 9.5/10 but this game could have been a 15/10. It could have had more better things. The Oocca could have been more like Hylians, but taller and worn cool silver armour and had wings or something. The City in the Sky could have been like a metal palace floating around in the sky and could have looked amazing. But instead they made it a stupid egg castle. Zant could have had amazing attacks and been really difficult to beat. By 4/5 of the game through TP should have been like a war between light and shadow. If I had added another years work into it, you would have had the best game ever...
