Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

I just got my Wii about a week ago and have been playing TP. I'm about 22 hours into the game and the batteries in the Wii remote are already dead. I was fighting the lakebed temple boss when I kept getting interuptions in the signal saying the battery was low. I guess I'll have to stock up on some AA's.

try to turn off the rumble or also try to silence the wiimote, with this the batteries can "stay alive" for weeks!!

Re: Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

Well considering it doesn't have teeth I'd say no. ::crickets churp::

For serious though I've had to change the batteries once, probably after 20 or so hours, but those were the batteries that Nintendo gave me. I put in my Energizer rechargable batteries and I've gotten at least 15ish hours out of them (on Zelda, Rayman and Wii Sports) and I'm still on my 3ed bar. Suprisingly good battery life if you ask me.

He means turn off the speaker. Press home, then click on the pic of the Wiimote, then adjust settings for it.

Re: Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

I'm on my fourth pair of batteriers now. I think when you have the nunchuk plugged into the Wii remote, it uses even more power. I'm using duracell's though, so that could be the problem. I need to start using energizer instead.

Re: Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

Everybody knows that it's just a matter of time that some third-party company (like Pelican) will create a rechargable Wiimote (with it's own dock of course). Heck, Nerf is even creating Wiimotes so it would be easier to grip onto it (maybe that could solve the "Wii have a problem". That and a stronger band connected to the Wii as well as having less excited players), especially if you get sweaty palms from playing games. Just make sure you handle the Wiimote before any of your pets do.

I guess that's one good reason to not buy a system upon release date. For Nintendo, they can create better models that have all the kinks worked out, have Rechargeable Wiimotes, a larger Game Library, and cheaper/used Wiis & games, even more color options than just white. Sure I won't be the first "kid on the block" to own a Wii, but I may be the one who spends the least. Patience is a virtue. Hone it Like I said, it's just a matter of time.

And as for rechargable Double A batteries (not rechargable Wiimote batteries mind you. There's a difference. That would be like buying a new battery for your DS compared to buying batteries for your GameBoy Color), I'm sure you can buy them at any Pharmacy/Hardware/Electronics Store.

You use normal batteries.
Nintendo recommends Nickel Metal Hydride Re-chargable Batteries.

Re: Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

This makes me wonder why Nintendo didn't make the controllers rechargeable. They really should have. GBA SP has the rechargeable lithium battery. So does DS. Why not Wii? I would've paid another 10-15 dollars if it came with some kind of stand to place the Wiimote in overnight.

Re: Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

They might release a rechargable battery pack (like for GBA) that you have to pay for. like microsoft did with Xbox.(Buy the pack and cord, charge it, play)

You just use any rechargable double A battery. The Energizer rechargables work very very well, and will save you a lot of money on buying batteries. I've found that the 2500 mAh's work very well (they're silver w/ black and green on them.) About 4 batteries and the charger will cost you about 20 bucks, but they'll last for at least a couple years.

They actually have the nerf controllers out on the PS2 right now, they're very nice. I thought the Wii ones were going to launch with the Wii, but I guess that didn't happen. Oh well.

Maybe it'll soak up the sweat?
But then sweat would gather and begin to stink like crap.

Nerf.com

Changing the batteries every 30 or so hours of gameplay time with the Wiimote isn't that big of a hassle for me. And if I end up using more then two pairs of batteries within two weeks, I can just use the four rechargeable batteries I have (which I bought for only about $20).

Re: Does Your Wii Remote Eat Batteries?

The only bad thing about rechargables is that every time you charge em' they last a tiny bit less.
