Are us Zelda fans being "Eased" into the voice-acting idea??

Think about how the series has gone so far.
We went from nothing but swinging sounds and PC blips for the NES Zelda, to "SAIIYYY!!" for a jump attack and a few screams from other characters in OOT, to Facial expressions alongside even more voice acting from Link, Aryll, the KoRL, and Tetra/Zelda in WW.
NOW, with TP, some characters are actually speaking whole paragraphs![ or close to it, so I hear]

Could it be possible that Nintendo is trying to ease us into the idea of speaking characters in Zelda, so that when the IDEAL voice actor for Link comes along, we will be more willing and ready to accept it?
Could a speaking Link be not-too-far off in the future of Zelda?

I hope there's no voice acting in zelda. it'd ruin it for me.

Well, to an extent, there already is in TP.
But you see what I mean, right? It seems like they are trying to subtly get us used to the idea of speaking characters in Zelda, one installment at a time....

i see what you mean.....

i think that voice acting is great, and would add to the fealing that youa re there, but there should still be the text, and you should still have to press the A button, so if its going too fast you wont miss anything.

and link alomost never talks, so why would they need to hire a voice actor?

The voice actor would be for when Link actually starts speaking whole sentences in a future Zelda game, as opposed to just grunts and the like.

And I agree with you on the first point, there should still be controllable text.^_^

However, Link shouldn't start speaking whole sentences, since he doesn't even speak sentences in text now when everyone else is. So if you were to translate all the text into voice, Link still wouldn't need a voice actor for anything but his grunts.

It's partially on purpose i'm sure, by having Link (or whatever you chose to name your Triforce of Courage wielding warrior) not speak, he lacks dialect and thus lacks personality, making him a more ideal RPG character. (It's more role-playing than basically anything else)

You won't believe me but...

LINK DOES TALK.

There is evidence to prove this. The biggest is that in most Zelda games, some asks your name. The they say 'Link?' without you saying anything. How would they know Links name unless he said it. Nintendo just never puts any terxt into Link speaking. I'll give you more evidence. In Twilight Princess, there is one NPC that says
Quote:
Your voice carriers well as usual.
Hm... well there's more. In one sceen, the mayor of Ordon Village calls you and Ilia to come over to him. Link is on his horse at the time, and as the two are going towards the mayor, you see Link and Ilia talking, as in both of their mouths are moving, but no subtitles.

Nintendo wants YOU to create Links voice. Link= link to the player, as if the player were the character.

I'm all for voice acting. For me, it wouldn't ruin my Zelda experience. I think it would make it better. Maybe to make everyone happy, they could have the characters speak Hylian and English subtitles. Hm...

Plus, Miyamoto would never not let us name Link (EXCLUDING FSA). If we got to name him, how could there be voice acting? If I named my character 'Bob', how would the game know how to voice it?

Yeah, that and they would need different voice actors for all languages. Without voice acting, you only need one cool-sounding person and it works for everyone. All you need to do is change the text. Suppose Link would sound retarted with an english voice actor but awesome with a japanese one. That would suck and it would piss me off. I think we are better off without voice acting, but adding the sounds that people make are a definite good idea. The Master sword is right about Link being able to talk, and about people thinking whatever they want Link to say.

Alright, that's all I gotta say for now.

"Hey, Buttmonkey, can I borrow that sword? Pleeease, Buttmonkey?" *snort* Okay, I'm done. Voice acting has been terrible in the past *shudders from StarFox experience* so I doubt it would work very well in a Zelda game.
I'm a little annoyed by the way Midna speaks out loud as her dialogue runs. I need to concentrate while reading. Oh, well, Midna's overall character is a distracting one anyway.
I liked Majora's Mask's little bits of voices every so often... and that's as far as I'll go. Especially since I often read it out loud to my nephew.

It's weird though. The only voices they need are grunts. Thats all you here from anyone in the games.

Voice acting would suck for a Zelda game. I mean it is a trademark. This is NOT Final Fantasy. It would ruin the series IMO. I mean you can't even name Link anymore WTF.

Do you mean if you try to name yourself "Link" it doesn't work?

I wouldn't want voice acting. Maybe when Ganon is defeated and he is cursing you, or insulting you, etc., but I wouldn't like it. Screams are ok. I also didn't mind the "Come-on!" in the Tower of Gods in TWW. I think an option for it and an option to have it like it is now is ok, but I don't want to hear anyone doing lots of talking. I feel no voice acting is part of the "Zelda" feel.

It would really be weird to here Link's voice.

We have already heard Link speak in English. And it sounded something like this: "Well, excuuuuuuuse me, Princess!"

He/she means the Zelda TV series. That was, I suppose, his catch-phrase.

Nintendo already tried full voice acting within the Zelda games (namely, the CD-i games) a few times. Here's how one of those games turned out. . .

I prefer this new approach of gibberish voicing in TP. It suits the characters (especially Midna).
