Heart Pieces

Sorry if there's already a thread about this, but if you've been reading all the new articles coming out about TP, you'll know that five heart containers are needed to collect a single heart container. This will make the side-quests harder, and make the bosses and such harder in general. Also, it has always been four to a container, and that (in my opinion) should have stayed the same. Tell me your thoughts about this.

It's five to a heart container because of this simple fact:

3 starting Heart Containers
+ 9 boss Containers
= 12 total heart Containers.

This would leave room for a slim possible 32 Heart Containers, as opposed to the better number of 40 that they could implement using a 5-heart system. This at least lets us know that there will be lots of sidequests...

I'm up for the extra challenge. Let's go!

I like the fact that we now have to collect 5 pieces for a heart. The more the better. I wouldn't even care if it was 6 pieces to a heart.

Why not 7? or 8? I don't think that you need lot's of hearts anyway to progress. Remember, it's optional.

I agee, why not 7 or 8? I wouldn't mind at all. Like you said there optional and you don't need a lot to progress.

Don't get outragous. I understand an extreme number of dungeons, but 7 or 8 heart pieces is just annoying. 5 heart pieces does break tradition, but I find it a good desision. it adds up to best Zelda ever. Not to small, not too large.

My opinion is already stated by several other people above.

Okay maybe 5. But if it were like 2, you wouldn't enjoy the game at it's full "taste". maybe 7 and 8 is too much.... yeah, 5 is good, and it's always getting us down when you look at your status screen and only 1/4 heart container is full.... let's see for 1/5...

Actually....in this game, we start off with five hearts, not three (yet another heart meter change). So if there are 9 bosses in this game (has that been confirmed?) 5(20 - (5 + 9))= 30. So it seems that there will be 30 side quests (if your logic is true...and are we even sure that Link will have the maximum amount of 20 hearts?).

Enlighten us BiggoronSword, how did you know we would start with 5 hearts? Just cause its in the demo doesn't mean its in the final game.

I assume there were five in the demos because they wanted people to be able to try the demo as much as possible without dying. I think they'll be sticking with three to start off with the final product.

I actually think this is a good idea. This means more side quests and more heart piece adventures.

I'm totally up for the idea. Perhaps it'll make the game harder. Change is always good, especially if its only something minor like this.

I like it. I know a few traditionalists won't like it much, but it potentially means more mini games, more side quests, and more hidden areas which is great. Even if they went nuts and made it 6-8 pieces to make a full heart I wouldn't complain as long as it meant there were extra fun things to do to get them.

12 required heart containers

Lets assume that you will have 20 heart slots, like in OoT, that leaves 8 spaces after the required containers, that gives us a whopping 40 extra quests, when compared to OoT's 32, it looks like alot more, and even then, not most of us go out to collect all the heart pieces. So yes, 40 is good, but keep in mind, on top of that we'll have the poe souls and the beetles.

Remember the amount of poes that went around hyrule field in OoT, it seemed like a relativly fair amount, but now think of the epic scale of TP, and how absolutly huge the overworld is... man, the amount of sidequests will be killer, at least 50-60

At least 50-60? That may be asking for a lot.....I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet. And it will be interesting to see the heart meter split into 1/5 now....are the hearts on the HUD going to be split into 1/5 now, or will it still be split into quarters?
