So, turns out there are still secrets to the control mechanics with a month to go!

What do you think these maneuvers could possibly be?

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

I can't imagine what he means. I figured that after the parry was introduced there wasn't much left.

Seeing the article is about the Wii version, maybe these maneuvers are Wii-mote specific?

dont forget about the sword beam, perhaps thats incorporated somewhere in the game?

LOL....thats classic. Anyway, I wonder if Nintendo put a lock of some sort on the special moves so people who played the demoes could not access them. They had an updated TP demo at the september 14th event when they made all of the big Wii announcements and nobody reported on any new moves.

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

True, but maybe they didn't know how (or weren't given the oppurtunity) to execute them.

Yea, thats also a possibility. I would think that some of the people who played the demo tryed different things with the wii remote though. I know I would have been swinging it in all sorts of different directions trying to see what I could do lol.

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

What if they are secret moves only obtained in side-quests? Or a possible learning system where Link learns a new move after killing so X amount of enemies.

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

It seems that many features have been taken off the demo, for, well, not showing any more spoilers. Something quite unrpobable, is that they even used old things like Link´s animations and sword atacks, for giving us the "surprise" when we play the final game and see the actual quality. I repeat, UNPROBABLE, but anyway. (unnnprobable).

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

please no more 'win' buttons, I would be perfectly happy with 1:1ish controls (instead of emulating b, have a vertical swing for a down swing, a horizantal swing for a slash and a stab for a thrust and for the love of god make it direction sensitive (i.e, swinging the remove from bottom to top makes link do a golf style swing.)) It doesn't have to be perfect but it would make it feel more believable.

What do you mean no more "win" buttons?

Or a learning system similar to tMC's. That was fun, and by the end you really did feel badass cool with all your new moves.

I think he's talking about being told to press the A button which pulls off some elaborate move that practically finishes off the enemy. Hopefully thats not what Matt was talking about.

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

I just hope they are not Wii only moves. If not then I will be interested to see these new moves.

Re: Link's "secret maneuvers"

Wii-specific moves would be a pretty big selling point.

Either way, I'm excited to see what they could be! I can't really imagine, though.

i remember back in may 2005 in an interview i think eiji said that there are different "styles" link can use, and you only see one in the demos.

Styles? I doubt it. However if it was true, that would make TP more stratigicly important than the others.

Who knows? You may be right however. I noticed that Link's new fighting style was totally different that the past. His swings seemed based more on strength than speed. His attack looked alot slower. More realistic yes, but still slow.
