Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

Well, I hopped on the Hylia just now and found this (in German):

http://www.thehylia.com/media/thumbnails.php?album=333

Check out the new screens, and especially the art of Link on the horse!
There was also new info like these bullet points from TSA, soon to be updates:

In the latest issue of German magazine N-Zone, there's a feature story on the upcoming Twilight Princess for Wii. According to initial translations from the folks over at NeoGAF, the article reveals that Twilight Princess is only going to have nine dungeons and will be 70-hours long, conflicting with the 100-hours report from earlier. Also, for those keeping tabs, Ocarina of Time had "eight" officialy dungeons, with the Ice Cavern and Ganon's Castle not included. This still fails to surpass A Link to the Past, which had 12 official dungeons, 14 if you go by the credits (which count Hyrule Castle twice and the Pyramid as a dungeon).

There's also a few new images, which may be spoilers to some, and the first page of the feature has some new artwork. It's pretty cool stuff. TPZ is out at the moment getting her badge for Ani-Magic, but when she gets back, I'll have her read the article since she knows German and get back with more info.

Updates:
- The game is 70 hours, including all sidequests according to Eiji Aonuma
- The Wii version has unique controls
- Link is a Righty in the Wii version
- Link is Lefty in the GCN version
- The game has 9 temples
- It will release for Wii on December 8th, 2006 (Germany)
- The GameCube version will be released after 2006 (Germany)
So the purpose of this thread is: are you surprised? Syched or dissapointed? And what does this mean for the quality and undoubted awesomeness of TP?

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

MGS3 felt long, it was only 20 or so hours.

70 hours is a very long time...

'nuff said.

The horse artwork looks abso-****ing-lutly beauitful though.

And the white twilight beast is well... damn impressive. Very huge, much bigger than a toaru goat. (just did a translation of the twlight beast, it's some sort of divine cattle spirit)

The white twilight portal is also equally impressive/intriging.

And that beautiful screen on link helping around toaru, I.E using epona to carry timber wood, quite wondeful.

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

Excellent find! I thought the 100 hour thing was absurd. I mean who really thinks Nintendo was actually going to make a 100 hour Zelda game, maybe in my dreams. As for the whole 9 dungeon thing, I think that's a good number for a Zelda game. Plus you have to imagine there will be some mini dungeons also. So I guess Nintendo is going to try to make length and number of dungeons close to oot, but maybe size and fun better. Well there's a saying here in Georgia that goes, "if it aint broke, don't fix it." The oot success is definitely not broke, so you know. Of course ya know if nintendo says it'll take 70 hours to beat it'll probably only take 40. You could probably beat it with all sidequests and all in 60. Game companys love to fluff gameplay numbers.

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

Hmm, pretty interesting. 70 hours is a pretty good amount of gameplay hours (I knew it wasn't going to be 100 though). Nine dungeons are ok (as long as they're expediential in size). I like the new artwork as well--shows off more of Link's mature look. The white Twilight Portal also intrigues me.

I translated a little bit of the interview. Apparently Wolf Link gains new abilities throughout the game (though it was probably expected by most). I don't if I translated it right, but apparently one of the new abilities he gains is called "sniffing of order sheaves" (whatever that means).

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

No, TSA posted it wrong, with my knowledge of german I can tell that it says, the GC version of TP comes after the Wii version, but still in 2006. So no need to worry there. Coming out mid december, around 19 dec I guess.

That's sweet...I love the Link and "Epona" game art, I mean, it's like the best...ah, sorry? I love horses... Anyway, it usually comes out earlier in the U.S. than Europe...so why worry about it.

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

I'm actually not liking the new official artwork at all. I'll even go so far to say that I hate it. That style belongs on the cover to some urban ghost story novel, not in Zelda.

As for having only 9 dungeons, that is dissapointing. It's ironic though, I remember making a fake insider post on GameFAQs where I lied about TP having 9 temples (this was months ago) and everyone was complaining that 9 isn't enough. . . I was expecting more like 12-14 dungeons.

70 hours of gameplay? I am thinking it will be more like 50-60 hours. I always knew 100 hours was an exagerrated lie.

As for the new screenshots. . .what happened? How did the graphics improve so much? That's one good thing, but for once, a new batch of TP info/screens has not hyped me up one bit. In fact, I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth. I absolutly hate the artwork.

Edit: I'm tired right now. Maybe that is the reason I feel the hype has left me, but I still hate the official art!

EDIT 2: Actually, now that I think of it. 9 temples is good enough as long as they are all quality dungeons. Like Majora's Mask, it only had 4 temples but they were 4 of the best in the series. ALttP had the most dungeons, but I felt that most of them were lame or just like the previous one.

Of coarse there will be mini-dungeons as well. . . Well, there better be.

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

9 dungeons doesnt even surpass OOt because if you count them you have more. LOOK
1.deku tree
2.dodongos cavern
3. jabu jabu
4. forest temple
5. fire temple
6. ice cavern
7. water temple
8. well
9. shadow temple
10. spirit temple( boy& adult)
11. ganons castle

so if you go by this TP wouldnt even top OOT in the number of dungeons

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

sounds good to me. I just hope the game will have in depth exploring like majora's mask, I prefer a larger worlds with FUN sidequests than a long story line. But that's just my opinion....

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

well look at majoras mask. it only had 4 dungeons and took a long time to beat.
also it says 9 temples not 9 dungeons.
the temples could also be very long since its a 70 hour game.

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe the temples and dungeons in Twilight Princess could very well be twice as large as those in Ocarina of Time?

I've seen a video or two of the 'Forest Temple' and it looks absolutely huge!
I think nine very, very large dungeons would be fine.

That does not matter, let's just hope that these Temples are nice in size and pose a challenge to beat. IE more than a couple of hours to complete it. You have to remember everything in between than just the temples. Alot of the time there are challenges just to get to the temples.

So I'm not worried about that, 70 hours of gameplay is rather impressive too.

Very true.

Though the temples may be larger, I'm still disapointed about the announcement. Nine isn't very impressive. Like many others, I was expecting somewhere between 11-14, but that's what you get for wishful thinking.

I love the art, and I love the new screenshots. Everything looks absolutly fantastic. This is my favorite scan. The portal looks awesome; I'm assuming it takes link in and out of the Twilight Realm. I love the closeup on Wolf Link and Midna. The graphics seemed to have improved, no?

The village looks excellent as well.

Re: Huge TP Info Update and Official Art

9 dingeons is plenty good.....I don't know why people would complain about that. That trumps MM and WW combined! 70 hours is awesome too and the new screens/artwork are sweet! I wish we could get better quality scans and a translation of that article!
