Exclamation Was there something about the King that we didn't know about? (Spoiler Warning)

To be more specific was there something between the King and Ganon that we didn't know about? Lately I've been thinking, why did the King have to destroy Hyrule at the end of the TWW? Since Ganon is dead wouldn't he have more time to get Hyrule back to normal? Many people I talk to say that it's because of his guilt that he could of done something. Is there a possiblity that he made some kind of an alliance with ganon?
I'm not going to dwell on what he said to Ganon but I was wondering if there is a possiblity he made an awful deal that would have send Hyrule in Darkness? Is there more to the King that we dont know about? Here's a passage I found from a text dump from Gamefaqs:

"My children... Listen to me.
I have lived regretting the past.
And I have faced those regrets.
If only I could do things over again...
Not a day of my life has gone by without
my thoughts turning to my kindom of old.
I have lived bound to Hyrule.
In that sense, I was the same as Ganondorf."

What can this really mean?

It means he, like Ganon, was holding on to an ideal that was foolish and doomed to fail. Also, He was bound to Hyrule, so as long as Hyrule existed he would to. Ganon was in the same situation. The only difference was that Ganon was trapped in Hyrule.

Hmmmm....That quote is verrry interesting I wonder what he ment by that? Maybe he regretted sealing Hyrule away? Why did he want to redo things? Very confusing, I wonder if Nintendo will ever shed some light on this?

The Flood takes place generations after OoT. I don't think that King is alive then.

Pretty good theory...
That was exactly what I'd say!

Yeah, he made some wrong decisions and he regretted making them.

When he says "I was the same as Ganondorf", he means he was obsessed with Hyrule, and didn't think about the future, or that Hyrule may some day be gone. Ganondorf only wanted to dominate it; Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule only wanted to hold onto it.

The king in OOT was killed by Ganondorf (I believe there is someone who says that, correct me if I'm wrong). The King in WW was a seperate King, who ruled generations after the events of OOT.

I don't recall saying he wasn't. Hence, the 'duh' wasn't necessary, was it?

We do not know which king he was, since it has not been stated at any point in-game. We do know that he was king when Ganondorf attacked, which could either have been in OoT or just before WW's flood, as far as we know.

I see it as totally possible that its the same king from OoT, Its the Same Ganondorf, yes hes been sealed away somewhere, but whos to say something simmilar didnt happen to the king as well? Since Link was transported back in time he apparently still has knowledge of what happened or if he doesnt Navi did and could fill him in. He also went and saw Zelda at the end...so he could have filled her and through her the king in on what would happen.

Well, since you never see the King of Hyrule in OOT, then he could be the same king. Then again, Ganondorf probably did kill the King in OOT. You never hear about him after Ganondorf gets the Triforce in OOT, so he probably did kill him.

Yes i think there is something about the king that we didn't know. It would be very interesting if ganondorf did kill the king. What is somehow the king was the original owner of the triforce of power. . . . very intersting topic.

Correct. I really don't know how people continue to believe that the flood happened directly after Ocarina of Time. There may have been up to thousands of years between Ocarina of Time and the flood (enough time for the Zoras to evolve), and that says nothing about the unknown amount of time that took place between the flood and Wind Waker.
