Higher Enemy

I was just reading an article from the nintendo forums about the symbols in the official art of TP. The contrast of good and evil made me think of whether or not Ganondorf is the ultimate enemy. Could there be a god that conflicts with the three godesses? Maybe Ganon will help you fight Him off, maybe Ganon is possesed by this god. Remember, Ganon is the King of evil, not the God. Or Ganon could just be a jealous thief bent on ruling all of Hyrule, and the Twilight is the evil wind that was spoken of in the WW intro. All we can do is wait until the game comes out, but until then lets just occupy ourselves with guessing wile we wait out Nintendo's Lie!

Re: Higher Enemy

It's quite possible that Ganon plays some smaller role than we're used to, perhpas as a foe but not the main foe. Reading the interviews, it seems Nintendo has been implying that the Twilight is more evil/ more powerful than Ganon(dorf).

Re: Higher Enemy

That could be possible, like there was with Mario RPG, and it would be cool if that actually happened and you can have a second player as Ganon! Now my friends won't whine so much about taking turns! I really gotta submit that to Nintendo...

Re: Higher Enemy

I personaly would like to face a vilian more powerful than Ganon/dorf. Maybe it would be an interesting twist if we found out more about Ganondorf's past and history in a Zelda game and later found out that he was forever possessed by a higher evil that eventually consumed his mind and soul. Then this would explain reasoning behind Ganon/dorf's evil throughout the series.

Re: Higher Enemy

This is a good theory, similar to mine.

But i highly doubt that Ganon will team up with Link, because in a NP article...they said "No mention of Twilight Princess' enemies can come up without mentioning Ganons name"

So by this statement we know..Ganon is en Enemy...not a friend...although he COULD be an enemy for 90% of the game...and then be redeemed a'la Darth Vader....and in turn, help us defeat the Twilight God.

But i still dont see that happening, because I dont see Nintendo turning one of there most Evil characters of all time, not to metion one of the most Iconic, into some sort of wussy that converts to Helping Link and saving all the forest animals and bunnies in Hyrule...i just dont see it happening.

But i agree with your thoughts on how there is a God or Power much higher than Ganon...and that it Controls Ganon.

The more I think about it....this game might be paralelling Star Wars in a very close way.

Think of it this way:

Emporer Palpatine = The Twilight
Darth Vader = Ganon
Luke = Link
Leia = Zelda

The Emporer controlled Vader....and Vader did all of the Emporers biddings...was hellbent on stoppiung and killing Luke...but by the end of the saga, Vader was redeemed and Both Luke and Vader , stopped and killed the Emporer! If Twilight Princess paralells Star Wars, it might be very awesome....minus the "I am you Father part".

i think some of you people need to stop kidding yourselves. ganon will be the main bad guy in this game. if anything you might think its something else for part of the game but by the end it will be ganon. i think that theyve all but confirmed it. also my belief is that when it was stated that ganon may have a different role than normal they are meaning that ganon is not going to be portrayed as a gerudo theif but rather a master of all evil and possibly the twilight.

Re: Higher Enemy

The fact that there is a god of evil would explain alot but I am still skeptical...

Re: Higher Enemy

I can't see them creating a new villian thats more powerful than Ganon. It would lessen the image of the "King of Evil" for future games imo.

Now a villian that rivals Ganon in power would be an interesting twist especially if Link were to to team up with him for a short while but who knows what the Zelda team has up their sleeves? Whatever they've decided to go with this game looks to have a very interesting storyline.

Thank you, that's what I was going to say! I will build apon your theroy with my own. Alright you all remember that interview that stated that Ganon will be more than we could ever expect right? That statement by itself blows this "Ganon is lesser to someone else" theroy out of the water. My theroy, the "twilight" is accually the Dark Realm that Link, Zelda, and the sages banished Ganon to in OoT and Ganon is controlling it. Nintendo hasn't said exactly "what" the twilight is and they have stated that Ganon and Zelda are not playing the roles they usually do (Ganon capturing Zelda and Link saving her), this means that Ganon, if my theroy is correct, isn't bent on using zelda to get hyrule because he now has the power to take it without the whole triforce. He may very well control the Dark Realm, spill it into the rest of Hyrule and rule as king. I mean, that is the reason he wanted the whole triforce anyway, and now he has the power to achive that goal without it. Then, consitering he had followed my theroy, he would have covered the land of hyrule in his "new" world, in which he is absolute! Before this can happen however, Link intervienes and saves hyrule.

Re: Higher Enemy

I don't think he will. Nintendo knows that people don't want to see him as the villain AGAIN. (most people) and they're not dumb contrary to some people's thoughts. They said he's playing a role in TP but not in the usual way. Unfortunately Nintendo can often be extremely literal when translated in to english so the normal way could range from clothes, weapons or even what most of us are hoping: We see Ganon playing the Irish bag-pipes in a night-milk-bar with his kilt and hairy legs. Garrr!

Re: Higher Enemy

I just thought of something else; what if Princess Zelda is under Gannon's control from the twilight, or she is being tricked into following Gannon. The Art never suggested that the would fight WITH Link or without him.

Re: Higher Enemy

Well, maybe Ganon will be helping Link by the end. I mean, he could be evil in the beginning, but then something happens and he becames an ally (like Super Mario RPG)...

Re: Higher Enemy

I think it would severely lessen the evil image they've set up for Ganon. I've always seen him as the most evil of any Nintendo villian and damaging that reputation would be devestating.

I do think that the Twilight is simply another name for the Dark World. Hence, why Link changes forms (maybe you have to get the moon pearl in game) like he did in ALttP and plus what does everyone associate with the twilight hour but darkness?

It would be interesting to see a new villian, perhaps a higher power, but not overwhelmingly so. As in, Ganon keeps being the King of Evil, but there is someone else there too, maybe even a peer to Ganon. I doubt Ganon would let anyone be his equal, though.

Re: Higher Enemy

A much more realistic approach to having both Ganon and another, more powerful, enemy is that perhaps, instead of Ganon starting off evil and then turning good, Ganon could start off evil, begrudgingly help you beat the great evil, and then turn on you at the end of the battle. It would make for a much better and more intense ending in my opinion.

Re: Higher Enemy

My theory is this: Hyrule's had peace for X amount of years since Ganon got sealed away in OoT. So since everybody's let their guard down, a new evil has taken over. Link can't defeat it, so he needs help from the one guy he'd never want help from in Ganon, as he would know the most about controlling evil. So Link releases Ganon from the Sacred Realm. Ganon doesn't want to help Link, but sees this as a territory thing, and doesn't want somebody else trying to steal his glory. Of course, this'll only work until Ganon and Link beat the evil and Ganon tries to take over the world himself.

Re: Higher Enemy

I've been keeping this too myself for the LONGEST time because I thought eventually someone else would have said this. (thank you to those who may agree/have posted this or something close before) WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! GANON & LINK TEAMING?!

If Ganon ever helps Link, that will be the absolute dumbest thing I'd of ever seen. Ganon's evil, therefore should NEVER HELP ANYONE BUT HIMSELF. Now, I'd sort of understand if Ganon needs to use Link for a plan without Link's knowledge, you know, maybe to get something only Link can (like the Master Sword for example) but if they team that would be REALLY STUPID!! Like if sephiroth teamed with cloud to defeat an evil being.(which I'm sure their are many messed up fan-fics in which cloud and sephiroth are buddy-buddy) "Grr, Link, this thing's gonna destroy all of Hyrule and I can't kill it alone, lets team up."

Please, I beg of you, leave these "Link and Ganon teaming" ideas in your minds or in your dumb little fanfics because it's the gayest thing I've ever heard of.

P.S.
FLAME AT WILL!

Re: Higher Enemy

First of all, fanfics aren't so bad (I have read some really well written ones). Second of all, Ganon teaming up with Link isn't a horrid idea, if it is under the right circumstances. If Ganon just suddenly wanted to team up with Link and nothing came of it, then that would be both badly written and wouldn't match the character. If Ganon (as I said before) wanted to team up with Link for his personal gain (to kill the force threatening his power, and THEN turning on Link as usual), then it would fit the character and potentially make for a good plot (if well written). 3rd of all, please refrain from your use of the word "gay" to mean something (in your opinion) stupid or a bad idea. It's a good idea to be civilized to other people, not just on a forum but when conversing with others in general. And lastly, if you are going to try and get people riled up, take that somewhere else.
