C-Stick problems

I was playing another game when this happened. I popped in the Wind Waker just to confirm it. It seems that when I tap my C-stick to the left, the camera nudges over as normal, but when I tilt it to the right the camera spins around as if I was holding the stick in a tilted position. This happens even if I let it go. Whenever I tilt the stick too hard, the game, (or it might be the controller), acts as if I am holding the stick in place, even when I let it go. Of course games that don't rely on a camera (OOT, MM, etc) act normally although when I use the c-stick to play the Ocarina, the notes are all long and drawn out, again, as if I was holding the stick in place when Im really not touching it at all. Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: C-Stick problems

You need to unplug your controller and re-plug it. If you already tried that, I apologize. Make sure you are NOT touching any button or tilting the analog or c-stick when re-plugging it.

If what I have quoted doesn't work I (happens with my wavebird controller too) just hold the control stick at a slight angle when I plug it in, keep trying till you get the right angle!

Re: C-Stick problems

I've had problems like this before, and it's usually solved just by turning off the GC and turning it back on without touching the controller. If your problem is happening frequently and you're not touching the c-stick while turning on the GC, I guess you could try what they said. Something may be wrong with the controller or you're just making the mistake of tilting the c-stick as you turn it on.

I had a problem like this on the N64, but it only happend when i was holding the control stick to a side and that would cause my character to slowly walk off in the same direction...

anyways good luck fixing it

Re: C-Stick problems

It is possible that it's you that's messing it up. But it could also be a defect in the controller. How long have you had the controller? Do you use the c-stick a lot/ do you mash it a lot?

Re: C-Stick problems

if you dont want to interrupt ur gameplaying by reaching over and unplugging it, hold x, y, and start simultaneosly for 5 seconds. that resets the controller. read the gamecube bookelet thingy = P

I didn't know that, but about controllers, I have the same problem with a playsation controller, it sticks about five times a minute, try blowing in the controller socket and the plug, this often works for me.

Re: C-Stick problems

well, you don't need to get a new one. There are places where you can fix it. What they usually do is change the entire stick. It's pretty common given the rough use we players give those poor sticks.
