Was it just me or was Gannon

Was it just me or was Gannondorf a bit on the not-so-evil side in TWW? I mean, if you really paid attention to what he was saying, he sounded like he was longing for a new home really. He said that the desert was a place where the wind blew with death in the air and he wanted a place like hyrule where there was life in the air. It kinda sounded like he was just looking for a way to escape the desert to me, and ended up getting more then he bargained.

Did anyone else get that sort of vibe? Not saying that he isn't a great king of evil or anything. But, he didn't seem as evil in this game to me for some strange reason. Maybe it's because I'm always looking for some good in him or something stupid like that?

I'm a big Gannondorf fan and always have believed he turned evil, not born evil. Well, I would like to get everyone's say on this. Please leave a post if you read this.

Yeah, he seemed that way to me, too...poor guy...and what does he get? A sword in the head. o_O Then again, he tried to accomplish his goal by evil means. He had good intentions at the beginning, but...

Re: Was it just me or was Gannon

And LTTP. He was far from human in both; one of the few things in WW improved from other games was Ganondorf's personality. My story of Ganon's life, as will be written in my fanfic The Three Torches and explains just what Ganon's evil is all about, goes something like this:

Ganon was born Grinnendorf II(meaning "desert king" in the ancient Gerudo tongue that no one speaks anymore). His father, Grinnendor I, had begun a war in Hyrule to conquer all the other races; he had no time for his son.
Grinnendorf II despaired often, despite his being the Gerudo King and having chosen Nabooru as his one and only. Then, the future was changed drastically by the sudden intrusion of the demigods Kotake and Koume into his life. Since his father never spoke to him, it was easy for Kotake and Koume to teach him new ideals. No one ever saw them, for they could disguise themselves easily(something like the Fairly Oddparents). Their overall plan was complex, but what they needed was someone who would eventually destroy every land in the world. They eventually convinced Grinnendorf II to begin a sacred, rare ritual in the Gerudo Desert by challenging his father in the Arena for the monarchy of the desert.
The son used many items; a boomerang, a bow and so on(bit of a creepy resemblance to Link there) but to no avail; his father was too skilled a fighter. Eventually, he used what he had left; a magical trident entrusted to him by Kotake and Koume. He impaled his father upon it and now had control of the desert. He left it behind to seek conquest as instructed by Kotake and Koume, who soon stopped advising him and instead were ever watchful in the form of crows, snakes and such. Nabooru separated herself from Ganondorf(Monster King, as he now called himself) when she realized that he was willing to use any means to conquer all there was to conquer.

So yes, he was made evil by experience, a negligent father and Kotake and Koume; he wasn't always quite like that. What were Kotake and Koume's complex plans? I'd have to practically read you the Three Torches to explain that. But what do you think of that for an explanation of Ganon's evil?

Re: Was it just me or was Gannon

Ganon is the Incarnation of Evil. He was born into the world of men (and Gerudo women, of course) as evil. Ganondorf's father was just some guy who existed in the world. He obviously wasn't Gerudo, because only one male is born to Gerudo society every hundred years.

He was raised by Koume and Kotake, who probably took him in just as he was born. Being the oldest Gerudo women in the society, they took him to the Gerudo's greatest temple. (Which of course was the Spirit Temple). They taught him the art of magic, among other things, and eventually he set off to find the Triforce, and found it ten years after the great war of the Triforce.

Yes ganondorf did seem only misunderstood just before that final confrontation. I think TWW is all the better for it because we finally have a reason for the evil deeds done.

You make some clever observations, but you miss a few possibilities. First of all, who says Gerudos don't live longer than Hylians? I happen to think that a Gerudo male, on very rare occasion, can live to be two-hundred. And if his father wasn't a Gerudo, he'd only be half-Gerudo, and if that happened all the time there'd be no Gerudos.
We never did see Ganon's childhood, so no one knows for sure, but I happen to think the possibility of him being made evil a lot more interesting. Who's to say that Kotake and Koume aren't the true, born-evil ones?(I also believe that they're more than just Gerudos, have been alive for well over four-hundred years and didn't really die at the end of OOT, since it seemed like a very staged death and it doesn't work with OOS and OOA)
While I think my theory is more interesting, both work, I guess.

Re: Was it just me or was Gannon

Who's to say that most Gerudo women are psychotic cross dressers? You only saw a select few. Who's to say that there are two million Mario clones in Hyrule, but are invisible?

He was evil. Very evil, he set thousands of his minnions into the world, Tried to kill link killed the sages. He set his minions out to make the koroks and the rito what they are. He plotted to use the triforce for darkness again. I say he is very evil!
