Mixing Items.

I am not sure if anyone has already made this post, but, here it goes...: Have you ever wondered why the item list is so small in Twilight Princess? And in one of the trailers, Link shoots an arrow, but with a bomb mixed with it? I think this means you can mix items together. If this is true, what kind of items would you like to be able to mix up? Oh, the possibilities...

Yes, there's been a thread like this. I can't find it though, but it's there. And yes, that is a bomb arrow, it was confirmed.

Re: Mixing Items.

Wait, I thought I had heard Nintendo confrimed some form of item mixing, even if it be very, very limited (say, only a few items and arrows)? If it hasn't been, then I'm going to say that the Bomb Arrow is most likely a new arrow and not from mixing the two. If it has been, then, yes I agree.

And then I'd be happy to try mixing anything I can.

Re: Mixing Items.

I don't really know much about the mixing items idea, but I do know that the items menu was designed as a circle so that players wouldn't know how many items there are to collect. shigsy mentioned it in an interview a while back. so although it may look small now, when new items come along they will enlarge the circle, or when that gets to a certain size a new circle will start within it.
Personally I'm not sure if I like the idea yet, but it definately sounds very interresting. Also if you can combine items together the space in the centre of the circle/s would make a usefull place to mix them together.

Re: Mixing Items.

Well, in TP, it has been confirmed that link receives a boomerang that houses the great fairy of the winds, perhaps link could receive other standard zelda items with a little twist to them, say a hookshot that houses the fairy of flame. And well, perhaps when link receives more that one "fairy" item, he could interchange the fairies between the items, giving them different attributes.

Reality? Nothing about Zelda is really about reality, dungeons containing evil creatures...evil bosses, the triforce, a talking boat (Wind Waker), a boomerang that makes a little whirlwind, a tunic that can make you breath underwater, a tunic that can make you withstand high temperatures (such as hot lava)...Does that sound like reality to you? Anything could happen in Zelda! Incluiding mixing items.

Re: Mixing Items.

It would be aesome to interchange different fairy attributes between your items...like you have stated Vacumgod. You could apply "Fairy of the flame" not only to the hookshot...but also to arrows to make fire arrows! But i think instead of applying different fairy powers to items...i think we will just be combining items...like Bombs with arrows, Bombs with the boomerang...to make a Bomberang

Re: Mixing Items.

fusing items is in dragon quest 8, although it's probably more complex than what TP could be.

i wouldn't like to see it in twilight princess, though. the simplicity of the game would be ruined.
however, i do agree with vacumgod about same items with a twist, though the idea of interxhanging powers could lead to veerrryy weird things

i wrote this post with 1 hand while eating a pop tart. yay

Re: Mixing Items.

I don't think there will be item mixing in the game, probably only a few combinations of items like the bomb arrow.

The only way item mixing would make any sense is in potions, and maybe the odd bomb or arrow upgrade. There are way too few items that could be mixed in not-complete-outrageous combinations. Explosive hookshots or boomerang hammers just don't make any sense.

But rest assured, Nintendo will probably upgrade each item in the fashion of the Gale Boomerang, so that they will have secondary functions on the level of a James Bond watch.

Re: Mixing Items.

From the forest temple, we already know that deku bombs can be carried by the boomerang; if we knew what the bombs looked like in TP, and what their opperating functions were, ( like instead of bombs having a timer, you throw them or lay them down, walk away, and press the bomb button again. In other words be remotely detonated) we could figure how bombs could be carried by the boomerang. I hope they put the grappling hook in TP. Then you could catapult bombs. Cool!!!
