OoT tidbits, thoughts and such..

I started OoT for the 4. time, this time on the GameCube.

So...

• Werent you able to hit bomb plants on the N64 with your sword, and they would then blow up?

• Queen Gooma takes 15 seconds to beat. Bleh.

• When you go to the Hyrule Field while having the 3 spirit stones, there is no day/night cycle in the sky.

• After seeing Zelda being carried away by Sheik, you can find a soldier in the city's back ally's which has been beaten up by Ganondorfs men (!). He actually dies after he has told you. *Gasp*

• Rauru in his owl shape appears again and again and again on the way to Zora's domain, until you have talked with King Zora. He also departs in different directions afterwards. (Funny, I only thought there were one kind of scripting)

• After you get the 3 spirit stones and ocarina-talks with Saria she tells you that she only wants to talk you face to face and that she has something to say. But if you go to her she only says that you can talk to her through the ocarina.

• There's a sign in the Goron village that says that if you stop the rolling goron, you'll get something nice. Unfortuantely, you dont, he just gets angry at you! (And this isnt the same goron you meet 7 years after, which DOES give you something)

• You can only get to 8 of the 10 places where you are supposed to plant magic beans, until you grow up.

• Getting attacked by 10 angry chickens is FUN!

3. Yes, because you have to get clobbered by Ganondorf before things go back to normal.
4. I was told you can find him in ReDead form later on, but it's a lie.
5. I don't think that's Rauru. And you also see him in Desert Colossus.
6. Yeah, she's so indecisive.
7. I heard he gets his mates to clobber you if you keep attacking him. Anyone tried this yet?
8. The others being Death Mountain Crater and...?
9. It's all fun and games until they chase you down a well.

If you are on Epona and run down a Cuccoo they'll attack you, but Epona makes you invincible so you can just sit there while hundreds of cuccoos attack.

I didnt know that about the soldier in the back ally. cool

You really can. I've done it. Deku Nut, Deku Stick jump-attack, another Stick jump-attack... repeat until owned.

I thought the Owl was Kaepora Gaebora and not Rauru.

You DO get something nice. If you stop him where there's a ceiling, you'll get a larger Bomb Bag.

Hitting a bomb with your sword does NOT set it off. It's only like that in FSA and TWW.

No,you can't destroy bomb flowers with a slice from your sword. If you could, it would access to some areas (like the Goron shop) a lot easier to access. As in, no need to use a burning deku stick to set the bombs off.

Queen Gohma, all I now is, she is dead in a flash!

Yes, you do get a larger bomb bag if you stop the rolling Goron as child Link. Remember?!

Tid bit from me: If you gain access to Gerudo Gortress as a child, and open the chest on top, were, as an adult you recieve a heart, you actually open the chest to reveal a mushroom!

How can you get to the fortress as a child without cheating?

I don't think there is a way, since you were never meant to get to the fortress as a kid. The only way there would be to use a Gameshark, or to exploit a glitch in the game (both of which would be classed as cheating).

Here's another interesting bit on the same subject - no doubt you've seen the normal Gerudo guards patrolling the area just beyond the gate. If you use Moonjump to get past the gate in front of which is the Gerudo in white, you'll hear a whistle and the guards will stop you. Then you'll get thrown into the river! AFAIK there's no way of getting past the gate as a kid without moonjump, but it's an interesting thing.
