kiddy game
A lot of people said that they thought Wind Waker was a kiddy game. I just wanted to know if you thought the game was kiddy and if you liked the graphics. I thought it was fun and I loved the graphics. I was also wondering if you liked riding epona or sailing on the king of red lions more. I am going with The King of Red Lions on this one.
EDIT: Announcment: Please people, if you are going to post in my thread take the time to review the pages of arguments. There is no sense in posting an opinion already stated. And my fellow members who do take the time to review the pages and make intelligent posts please ignore the posts and comments made by the members who rather not go through all the text. Re: kiddy game
Naw, what little kid could get through the Earth Temple without an older sibling or a parent? Even I found the re-deads creepy.
Oh and, dude, why even ask which was better? You just can't beat Epona.

The redeads were awsome though. They creeped me out from ever wearing hoop earings again, but they looked pretty good for Windwaker graphics. X333

Re: kiddy game
Most people said that TWW was a kiddy game. I agree. Still good though.
The kiddy cel-shading graphics were great. It made everything seem so bright and happy. Link looked like a little cutie fighting big enemies. Heh, so adorable. Princess Zelda looked like a doll. Ahhh, everyone just looked so cute. I liked Epona better. That endless sailing drove me crazy, but I still got through it. ^^ Riding on a horse was better and more fun.

Re: kiddy game
WW is a great game. DOn't let the graphics and kiddy-like experience block you from seeing the true essence of the game. I thought riding empona was great. SAiling in the boat was somwhat boring. I can't wait for the horse-fighting in TP!!

Re: kiddy game
I dont think TWW is a kiddy game, they might say it because they could b jealous or that the graphics is different. I really enjoyed completing it and now i gonna start again because it is so fun. And I like Epona better because it is faster, more fun and it makes me feel more of link.

Re: kiddy game
The Wind Waker was and is the best Zelda game to date in my opinion. The graphical style was a very big step for Nintendo to take and I think it was a good one; people that had a problem with the style were the same people that didn’t put enough time in playing it.
It added something that has been lacking in all the Zelda games prior to it, comedy. The first sign of this was the shield scene when Link goes to get the shield on Outset Island; the way he reacts to it being missing is brilliant. Then there’s the clip on the pirate ship where it cuts the scene and goes straight to Link in the cannon. He realises what is going on with the audience which is obviously not possible but hilarious. I would have to choose the King of Red Lions over riding Epona and I am surprised that people honestly prefer Epona. Look at the points: On one side we have N64 style coding Epona with poor movement and nasty collision detection. On the other side we have a fully coded boat with lots of weapons/items usable on board, wind control and jumping. While riding Epona may seem more interesting to you in its current form, if you had to ride Epona for as long as the King of Red Lions it would be very obvious which is superior. |

Re: kiddy game
I have to say, even though Tww isn't my fav zelda game, I agree with you Sol.
Epona: Bad collisions, you can only use the bow, you can jump across gaps, you can summon her nearly anywhere, invincle, not much skill needed King of red lions: Well coded, lots of useble items, certain level of skill rquired, not invincle (imo this is a good thing), only method of transport. IMO this makes KORL better. I also hate it when people say WW has "bad graphics" it doesn't- the graphics are MEANT to be like that, they aren't glitchy, and they add dimension to poeple's expression, something that is still hard to do with realistic graphics.

Re: kiddy game
I played OOT again today and I realized that I like The King of REd Lions more. Epona was just a way to get around faster in the game, you only really need here went you try to get the Biggoron Sword. The King, on the other hand, was a necessity. He was your only mode of transportation throughout the entire game. You needed The King in order to pull up treasure and bomb ships. The King could fire bombs, all you could do with Epona is shoot bows while riding her. Sure the sailing was boring from time to time but, It made it more life like. Plus, how could you get bored looking at that beautiful cell shaded sea?

Re: kiddy game
It is not a kiddy game... anyone who doesn't want to play due to the graphics is acting childish themselves...
The game is awesome... as for epona or the king of red lions... I dunno... there both good, I love sailing in real life... but the sailing in the game wasn't as fun at the real thing... The graphics work good with the game because Links facial expressions are comical!

Re: kiddy game
Windwaker is a kiddy game. Epona is awsome. The talking boat is a reincarnation of Navi. The graphics were horrible. The plot wasn't much better. I hope that TP link is completely and totaly unrelated to the long armed, stubby legged, huge headed, freaky wimpy WW link who waves the stupid toothpick around.

The fact that the game gave off a somewhat kiddy vibe isn't what made it bad. The graphics were not horrible. In fact, WW is without a doubt the most graphically impressive Zelda to date (given that it was released on the most graphically capable Nintendo system). I can understand if you don't like the style, but even then, Wind Waker could be downright beautiful at times. The Wind Waker Link is no more wimpy than any other Link and I'm quite certain that he swings a sword--not a toothpick--around. I'm sorry, but stupid comparisons or exaggerations get to me, especially when they're not even funny. I also don't think that the plot deserves any criticism. It was set up in a similar way to other Zelda stories and I felt that it was quite good. Wind Waker is lacking for the following reasons (among others) -Recycled gameplay -Watered down difficulty -Uninspired dungeons -Too much forced humor -Sailing -Poor use of instrument -Co-op dungeons -Too many fetch quests (specifically the triforce quest) So yes, Wind Waker is a bit on the kiddy side, but it really has more to do with gameplay than graphics. I'm more than willing to look passed the bright surface and play games for what they are. My opinion is that Wind Waker is terribly overrated and that it actually benefits from all the talk about its graphics. Everybody seems to assume that it's a perfect game and that anybody who dislikes it only does so because it's kiddy. If that makes any sense . . . Ha, this reminds me of the good old days in the Wind Waker Sucks Thread. I wish that had never been locked. |

Re: kiddy game
I'm not gore loving, and I don't like playstation.
I didn't like the cell shading. It was so bright and happy. OoT's graphics were better than that. (TP's will be way better!) The music was sucky. If you don't believe me, go stand in the starting village of OoA. There was way too much sailing. Every where you went would be endless boring water that was exactly the same. It was no where near as much fun as real sailing is. You can't just walk away as well, you have to find the idiot boat. The instrument wasn't even an insturment. It was a stupid toothpick. Also, the game gives you NO choice of freedom. If you try to take your own path, the boat says that your going the wrong way and turns around. If you don't listen and keep on sailing it kills you. They don't allow you to do the temples in you're own order. They hide Makar from you until you do the temple. WW was a good game, but it's definately the worst of the Zelda series.
