Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
I can't explain it...
but I can offer my thoughts: The Kokori are human-shaped, but with green hair and fairies... the koroks are tree-shaped with funky masks and no fairies.. but the Forest Haven is filled with glowing lights.. and there is no korok named Saria, Mido, or any of the other names from Oot... so there must have been some enormous change wrought on the kokiri that enabled them, and the kokiri forest to survive the flood (just think about relative elevations here- how on earth is the Forest Haven now just as tall as Death Mountain?) so the Deku Tree changed some of the kokiri into koroks by combining the fairy and child- and used the powers of others of his kokiri children to save the forest.. also, the change is necessary- because the kokiri can't leave the forest. I probly just confused you... I'm tired and its late...

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
Actually, I can understand that. But, the thing is, the Korok are technically the Kokori, right? Just, a couple centuries after the great flood they became Korok. That's why there are no Korok named Saria or Mido. I assume the Deku Tree transformed them into lighter forms to be able to use Deku Leaves, which doesn't explain why they don't have guardian faeries unless your theory is correct. How the woods are suddenly even with Death Mountain, I don't know

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
The fairies being the lights in the forest could make sense, but why aren't they closer to the Korok, or at least have wings like on OoT? On WW, all they look like are fireflies at night. In fact, when you capture them in a bottle, it's called a firefly. I don't think they're the fairies, at least not the Kokiri's fairies. They might be the ones that you sometimes see around the Kokiri Forest.
Anyway, how'd the forest get that high? One of my theories is that the Kokiri found a mountain in the forest covered in trees, and lived there. But that's impossible, since the Deku Tree is with them, and trees can't move. They couldn't have planted a new one, since the Deku Tree on WW says Link looks farmilliar. I'm guessing he's the sprout from Oot. |

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
well, actually, the elevation of the deku head isn't that far off from what it used to be... so the magic could have been used to change the dead deku tree into a protective ring around the forest... (seeing as it has tree branches sticking out of it, but it has an open roof).
Also, I'm wondering where the springs inside the forest haven are coming from- my theory is that they reach all the way down to the original roots of the kokiri forest and the fairy fountain in the lost woods- and that the deku tree channels the water up- and that this is why it has the healing powers...

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
I beleive that if the Kokiri left the forest they would not die. I believe that was a warning from the Deku Tree too keep them from danger. Cause if you have beaten OOT and watched the ending movie you would have seen some of the Kokiri at the little party that went on in the Lon Lon Ranch during the credits.

The Koroks are so completely and radically different, to the point where they are no longer the same species, that they just may not be Kokiri anymore. (As with the Rito and Zora.) So therefore, they wouldn't have gaurdian faries because they aren't Kokiri.

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
well it does say they are kokiri and KawaiiKawai could be right a bout the old tree being a protective casing around the forest the limbs on the outside could have fallen and helped make the anchor for the land outside after all dead leaves, limbs,& even bodies after awhile turn into dirt

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
From, reading this thread, I'd probably say that the little firefly lights COULD BE the guardian fairies that the Kokiri had in Oot. It's very possible, but I believe that when the Kokiri evolved into the Koroks, and that could have meant in that form they didn't need protection anymore.
Well, I don't think the Kokiri really ever needed protection in the first place. They were probably told to stay there, only because to keep them safe from the rest to the world, and...
That's what I think. ![]()

Re: If the Korok are the Kokiri...
Here's another wild theory.
Maybe they still do have guardian fairies. The Kokiri couldn't fly but the Koroks could. The Koroks themselves could be the tree part of their bodies & the fairies could be the funny leaf things on their faces & those could be the things that produce the leaves for them to fly(unless the Koroks have magical wazoos ).The Great Deku Tree was still protective in TWW.Although he knew they had to spread trees around Hyrule,he wouldn't let them go near the Forbidden Woods. |
