overworld

i know alot of people on here have said how amazing the graphics on tp are and i do think they are good. i dont think they are great though except in certain places where it shows alot of detail such as in some of the dungeon screenshots. anyways i had a question for the people who are more technically inclined. assuming they have about 8 or 9 dungeons in the game plus other caverns etc...how big of an overworld could they fit on a gamecube cartridge. do you think it would be as big as say the land on gta san andreas or do you think it would be much smaller? also do you guys think that the majority of the overworld is going to be wide open and plain like oot or a denser world of trees etc.

Re: overworld

Well, first of all it has been revealed that there are many more dungeons in TP than there were in OOT. I think there were like 9 in OOT? So there must be 15 or so in TP (wow!).

As for the entire Hyrule location, the grounds are probably very big. Well they had to be for that huge boar race on the fields. Then there's the dense forest that we've seen in the pictures, (maybe death mountain and gereudo desert), hyrule castle and without a doubt tons more, and then there's the ENTIRE spreading twilight realm!! I believe this will be a huge map, perhaps cut into sections on the overlook board or whatever. I'm intregued to see how this turns out to look like in the game.

Re: overworld

they have confirmed that it will take ages to travel the whole of hyrule by foot. and still a little while on horse (even though it's on horse and much faster) . I've heard something about taking to the air.. and how they said no Epona is definitely not the only mode of transportation. Are these things that are faster? or just that can reach different heights. We don't know for sure.

Apart from that it has also been said ( i think.. i can't remember when or by who now. Starting to question the reliability of this fact but it sounds believable enough) the game will be on 2 discs

Well, I believe it has been said that TP's overworld will be as big, or bigger, than TWW's. (Which was absolutely massive...)

As for the topographical qualities of the overworld, we have seen a forest relatively close to Toarau, Toarau itself (which seems fairly large), the Lost Woods (possibly), "Hyrule Field," a mountainous volcanic region (Presumably Death Mountain, due to the Goron.), a market area, the Twilight, and the various dongeons and mini-dongeons.

The Gamecube dosen't use cartridges, it uses discs. I don't think it will use two discs though. And now that it's been delayed untill about April, it has time to touch up stuff. It's far from done, it seems. But I still think it looks good.

Re: overworld

1.2 Gbs will be more than enough room for Nintendo to fit everything for TP on. Without Voice acting (which takes up alot of room) we should be fine with one disk.

As for the over worlds... I am sure they will be very large and will be impossible if Link to run from one end to another... As stated at e3 Link will have to use it horse.

So Im betting its going to be huge.

As for the graphics... Don't get those screenshots into your head. Most of the newer ones are just ulgy and plain. The graphics in-game look much much better than of those useless screenshots.

TP is going to be good... and massive too

Re: overworld

TP has 3 major citys atleast and its the biggest so far as nintendo keep sayyin they wanted to build and expand and make a bigger game then ever before.

Thought OOT was kina cool how the world was so small cool but unrealistic.

Re: overworld

i'm hoping that there will be continents, and that you could take a boat to others. not like windwaker where there are scattered islands smaller than link everywhere  just like, 3 or 4 giant worlds seperated by maybe 30 seconds of a boat ride

Re: overworld

1. they're disks not cartridges
2. i doubt the overworld will be much bigger than 1 square, much less bigger than wws ocean (you got to be kidding me)
3. miyamoto said "quality, not quantity" so while he said their would be more dungeons than OOT, i doubt there will be 15, maybe 15 at the most.

1 square? I'm gussing you're talking about the size of one square on the map from TWW. I think you're going to be proven wrong there. The developers themselves have said that they want the world to be huge, so expansive that you absolutley need the horse to get across. I think it'll be roughly the size of TWW's ocean, if not even bigger.

Re: overworld

When i first saw pictures of Ocarinas Overworld...I tough it would be amazing to travel trough distante lands...When I played the game, i realized that theres wasnt distant lands at all...I think that this can and will be improven by Twilight...i have been noticing just how few we known so far, so few places we've seen...I think this game will be gigantic and we dont known nothing about it yet...we've seen a forest, a smal portion of the overworld, two dungeons, two citys, and some less important events...thats nothing

Smile Huge, but full of life

I'm hoping for the overworld to be gigantic, but more than that I want it to be a lively one, otherwise riding the horse to get from one place to another will be as boring as sailing WW's ocean without the Gale of Winds. I also believe the game will be in two disks: think about it: every game that has more than 40 hours of play on the GC has had two disks (Tales of Symphonia and Baiten Kaitos are good examples, so why not this one?) More space means more possibilities, more surprises... anyone agrees with me?

Trust me there will be only one disk. Zelda games are knows for the freedom you get. And if you have to chance disks every time this freedom would be way less. And where would you have to chance them?
Most use of the disk get's in voice-acting. Thats why RE and MGS have 2 disks but aren't as big as most Zelda games.

But anyway I think (though not hope so) TP will be very open and plain. EA said this in an early interview. There he said that they wanted to have less stuff you don't use like decoration. But the game itself will be HUGE!! trust me

You're probably right about the disk thing but then again, no one knows for sure. I'm not sure if you ever played Tales of Symphonia but in that game you only change disks once and maintain the freedom to go to almost every region of the game (I say almost, because two of them get destroyed...) and the game takes about fifty hours to complete. If TP is going to be bigger than that how are they going to fit all of that in a single disk? Okay, there won't be voice acting, but I think this game will have a great number of cut-scenes (way more than in other games... In the demo of Taoru village you get at least two... and many others may follow... doesn't that require a lot of disk space too?
I'm just speculating here, but I think it could be done. Unfortunately, we're going to have a long wait before knowing for sure...
