Voicing my opinion...

im sooooo glad tp is coming soon, the other zelda games for gamecube are a laughingstock. It is a personal affront to link and not to mention me, to make him that cute and fuzzy, what were they thinking? link was meant to be someone who was cool and awe inspiring, at least lately, it seems like hes been saving everybody and he looks like hes five. thats just crazy. it is not even logical in the least to make him look like that. this game is like a dream come true for me, he has got to be at least twelve to be able to do anything of the sort that he does. anybody the age of what he looks couldnt lift a sword or use a grappling hook for that matter, i refused to play those games, it has got to be the most unrealistic twist the games have seem yet.

While I respect your opinion, I might be able to read your post better if you used proper punctuation.

Do you have an aversion to small children? Cell-shading? Grappling Hooks? I can't really see what point you're trying to prove, other than tWW sucks because it's teh kiddie. Stop dwelling on the past. Take the game for what it is, or simply just don't play it. Easy, right? Nobody is making you play the game, so I see no reason to complain.

I personally thought it was a wonderful and immersive gaming experience, and fit in the Zelda series perfectly. I don't always view Link as a tough guy ready to kill things, save the princess, and look good doin' it. To me, he's just a kid.

i still think he should be a little older, but i see your point. i dont like it, cell shading isnt my style, me and cell-shading dont agree. And the grappling hook was not the bad thing, it was that someone that young couldnt swing one. but fine, dont bother replying to this unless you want to make some more fun of me, I saw the reply to my other post, just leave me and my views alone.

Link should be older? .. no no, I think link should be younger, like he was in LoZ, the oracle series, MM, and the foursword saga. Link was always meant to be a kid. This whole adult nonesense is just people not seeing that true heroes can be anyone, young or old.

I never attacked your views. Let me ask you something, have you actually ever played the game? It's more fun than its stubby-legged cutesy nature lets on. Almost as fun as setting Barbie dolls on fire. Don't judge a book by its cover, there are things about tWW that you don't get just by looking at it.

Nintendo was astonished when they heard gamers say "this game is kiddie, why would you do this to Zelda?" They were simply trying to take Zelda in a new direction. And unless you take new directions in whatever it is you do, it becomes stagnant and boring. I applaud what they did because it is such a rare thing, to risk their sales by bringing something new to the table. Sooo many game companies just want quick sales and stardom by doing something based on what's already been successful. That is not an action that brings about revolutionary games.

Now, I used to feel the same way about cell-shading and the "kiddie" look of WW. Did you ever actually play through the game? Or, did you ever bother even to pick it up and really play through at least fifteen minutes of it?

Just go down to Gamestop (or wherever), pay the sixteen bucks to buy it, and really play through. Even though Link is younger, WW still has a deeper story than even OoT.
Try it out. It really is a good game, even though it doesn't "look" mature. Look at South Park: It seems all kiddie and stuff if you put it on mute, but it is amazingly different than it presents itself to be.

I thought all the critics were silenced when Wind Waker was released and everyone realised what an awesome game it was, and how the graphics really didn't matter all that much.

I really hated the cel shading (i don't hate cel shading, this particular example really looked stupid in my eyes), and the whole sailing thing. I have always loved horses, so I was pretty annoyed when I saw the King of Red Lions. I hated the whole Hyrule getting washed away/ I just hated the way there were only six dungeons in the game, and the later events were basiclly just fetch quests. Mind you. I love Medli and Makar. They are so kawaii! There were times when the cel shading looked beautiful, and looked warm and vibrant. I also loved the way the phases of the moon changed.

I have to admit, the graphics weren't disappointing for me. I wasn't a fan of Zelda when the game arrived, so I didn't know anything about it, so I wasn't hoping for some...other thing. Later I got it. My parents and older sis don't like the graphics, but my younger sis and I don't mind. It's just annoying when my parents make comments about it.

It was certainly a new direction for Nintendo. It was their goal to emphasize the game's younger point of view with that graphical style, but they did not intend to turn away Zelda fans with its unique qualities. Most of us fans did buy the game, and most were pretty pleased with it, even though it was a little easy.

Cheif of the Ages, we're not attacking your views ormaking fun of you. I haven't been here too long, but it certainly doesn't seem to be a "LOVE EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ZELDA OR WE BOOT YA!" kinda place. So far, I think ZU is a wonderful community forums, a place that actually has intelligent and freindly people (NOT a place that is full of idiots like where I live. T_T').

As much as enititled as you are to your opinion, you must realize you've angered the community here. And if you haven't even played the Wind Waker, are you absolutely sure you have the right to voice your opinion? You cannot truly judge it until you've played it.

For me, the Wind Waker was truly mesmerising experience. It is a delight for both the mind and the senses to wallow in. Some people who have played it said it was 'too easy and too short.' Things is, you have to be open-minded to truly enjoy and appreciate Wind Waker. For me, it is a masterpiece.

Don't be forced to like things just because they're popular. Like things which you really like. And be proud to be different.

While I do think that WW was far from great, I don't attribute it to kiddy graphics. I can't stand it when people won't play or hate on game because of its look. WW wasn't as good as its 3D counterparts because of its kiddy difficulty, kiddy puzzles, kiddy combat, kiddy length, and a general lack of fun. Not because of kiddy graphics or a kiddy Link. Link is meant to be a kid. I don't prefer adult Link to child Link; it really is irrelevant. Even though it isn't my favorite, WW was necessary for a few reasons:

-It prooved that Nintendo had the guts that other companies lack and that they do what they want.
-It kept the series from stagnating. There is a reason why LoZ outlasts every other series.
-It created a unique experience for Nintendo Gamecube
-And, it makes me anticipate TP that much more.

First time I saw footage of TWW, I was a bit shaken. What's this cuteness? Link? Nooo... But still, it's Zelda, I had to have it. I gave the game a chance, tried it and loved it. I fell for the style and everything as soon as I got to control Link. Cute! And fun! And sailing really was/is fun too.

Of all the faults The Wind Waker had, I don't think that the graphics were one of them. While it was a rather drastic change, they truly accomplished what they had set out to do: make it so that people did realize that Link is a little kid. I believe it is generally accepted that Link in tWW is older than Link was in OoT and MM, but because of the graphical style the Link in tWW is always pointed out as being "kiddy", and it's easy to forget that he may be older in tWW, because of the different graphical styles. If you think about it, this makes the game even more effective. I mean, what's darker than a 12 year old kid having to leave behind a quiet island life with his sister and grandmother to take up a sword and defeat evil? If that isn't inspiring, I don't know what is.

I hate it when people say that. The graphics DO matter... it's just that the graphics of tWW kicked ass.
