XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

So in XPlay's E3 awards special they said that the dungeons will be based on different animal. Is this true or is this something that just slipped off their tongues? it sounds plausible with the one dungeon of Monkeys and with Aonuma and Miyamoto saying that animals will have a large part in it AND that in most of the trailers you see some sort of animal in it. With all that is seems very possible but I was just wondering what you guys though!

I think it would be great. Also, if you think about it, it makes sense.

Ick. I sure hope not. It would lose its novelty fast. I'm all for helping the monkeys in the Forest Temple, but I really don't want to assist or be assisted by animals in every single dungeon. Unfortunently, it does sound plausible. Please no.

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

I think it would be cool to have something like that. I could see that happening, cause of what we've seen of one of the dungeons with a monkey. Then we would have the temples named after animals and stuff. Like they monkey temple, the eagle temple, could be cool. Only thing I wouldn't though is having that certain animal follow you around the dungeon, could get annoying.

I agree, I am all for the monkeys but having to help or be helped by animals in every dungeon would not make me happy. Although it does sound very possible and I can imagine how Nintendo could do it but I still dont want it to happen. I wouldnt mind if it was 2 or 3 dungeons but all of them I wouldnt like.

STOP *****ING.

I wouldn't really mind having a specific animal helper in each dungeon, just as long as they keep it creative.

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

It was mentioned in the interview with Aonuma that he wanted to incorporate helping different animals in some different dungeons. Not that they would be specifically themed after them but still... Doesn't seem like that big of a problem.

.... I want a unicorn temple....

well, I liked the monkeys inhabiting the forest temple, but I can see the theme getting old fast, similar to the OoT temples, they all had to do with some sort of element, which, after beating the game, turned me off.

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

OoT. al;l the temples ahd a different element. Rescuing gorons, whacking portrait ghosts, travelling back in time, changing water level, guiding a princess through the dungeon, they ll had some design element that was unique to that dungeon.

The whole moneky thing works for me, but I don't want to see the same thing in every dungeon, just with different animals each time. Jabu-jabus belly had those cool tentacle things, which combined with the whole convoluted, weird and unorthodox design of the dungeon, made it very unique and refreshing. the same can be said of every dungeon in OoT. tWW also ahd these unique gameplay elements (the fan, the purple haze, using lava spurts and water jugs to make elevators, the guardian statues). The problem with tWW and how it incorporated these elments though is that the dungeon designs themselves were very rinse and repeat in their structure.

The animal moneky thing works, but how about maing a dungeo woith mulitple entrances like on LttP. make it a volcano, and one of the entrances requirwes you to get flown to the top of said volcano by a bird. But, the bird will only take you if you have a certain food. This food, you get from a chest within the dungeon. Instantly, you have a little bit of animal interaction, and a puzzle that most would probably get stuck ona couple of times. Another dungeon idea, could involve the dungeon being half in the twilight, and half in the normal land. So every time link journeys to say, the west side of the dungeon, he's the wolf. Only thing, there is a puzzle which requires link to be adult to solve on the west side. Sop as a wolf, link must find a way to puch the twilight back in that certain area. Yet another dungeon idea involves taking the horse inside the dungeon. There could be some things which are to heavy for link to push, so the Horse is used to carry it. Add this to some horse jumps and such, and there is another dungeon gameplay element.

Bottom line, it is these new gameplay elements within each and every dungeon of Zelda that keeps them fresh. Every Zelda game now has it's own 'main' gimmick with whcich the title revolves around. Deku tree. Jumping from great height to break spider web. Using slingshopt to knock down ladder. using lit deku sticks to burn spider webs. The whole basements structure. All these things which encmpass the dungeona re little gameplay elements unique to that dungeon. Go through some other Zelda dungeons, there are a lot of these little things to it. The developers are smrt.

As far as dungeon themes getting old, it is only becasue you know the process of thigns you musty do before you can get to the next fun part. "oh, right. before the boss, i ahev to fight some flame dancers, go through that **** fire maze place, rescue some gorons. uggh. i just wanna fight volvagia already". sound like a song you know?

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

I think Adam and Morgan ran out of things to say about the new Zelda game (they mentioned it about 3 times and said it was "Best of E3") so they either assumed that, or made it up. They think taking celebrities and cutting out their mouth to make them say something completely irrelevant to the game that they're reviewing is "brutally honest game reviews". Or a puppet that tells you to suck it.

I wouldn't really like to help animals in every single temple, it seems like the novelty would wear off really fast, but who knows?

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

I personally wouldn't mind it. They would have to work REALLY hard to made it interesting. Like in WW, in you had the last three dungeons you brought around people with special abilities to help you. May be each of these animals will have their own special ability. But still, I'm going to have to agree with BLT, I think that the script writers wrote down "with it's animal themed dungeon" but Morgan (or Adam, can't remember) said "With it's animal themes dugeons" and might of accidently added an "s" on dungeon. But who know, as I always say: We know nothing about the game until we play it.

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

well, it could be that they just teach him a special move because it was said that you would learn moves from animals, so them may just teach you a move after you save 1 animal, like a monkey for example.

Re: XPlay's E3 Special (possible, slight dungeon theme spoilers)

I'm not too sure, having to befriend animals in every dungeon? That would be a bit too, out of place. I think it could work in TWW, but it would be a bit repititive in either game. Maybe one or two dugeons, or all of them?
