Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed being a wolf in TP?

I didn't like it. The wolf form seemed like a crappy imitation of Amaterasu from Okami without the nimbleness or cool special abilities.

Have to agree that I enjoyed being a wolf much more in Okami, but it was just so much faster way to travel then on foot.

I liked the wolf mechanic, but it did feel like it could've been added to much more. There wasn't really much reason to transform after the first three dungeons, even though you could whenever you wanted. (one such reason being getting across the Gerudo desert faster.)

I liked it. Not as well as the goron transformation or the zora but I enjoyed it. It was fun to fly from deku flowers and bounce on water.

I liked being the wolf, from what I recall. It was a fresh experience, and it was fun to sniff around and talk to other animals.

I actually just got Twilight Princess. And I have to say, I'm going to be dissapointed when I turn back to being human. Wolf Link makes things different from average gameplay. It opens up new ways of getting about. You get to see the spirits and talk to animals.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed being a wolf in TP?

I thought being a wolf was great. I read this thread a few days ago, and I just started playing TP again recently, and I don't understand what people mean by how the wolf should have been used more.

I mean, thus far, sure, it's not used as much as the masks in MM (although those played a much bigger role in the game), but I feel as if I've used the wolf enough outside of the twilight areas. You need to use him quite a bit in the Arbiter's Grounds, and then again quite a bit in the Yeti's house. Idk, I feel like the wolf form is used enough.

Only thing I don't like is how you need to transform in to a wolf just to warp, but I guess that's a separate subject. And all in all, I like the mechanics of the wolf, although his attacks may be limited in comparison to human Link, I really enjoy using Midna's attack

You do need to use him quite a bit in the 4th dungeon, to find the Poes, and to dig through some stuff I think.

Same with the 5th temple, not only do you need to use him to actually get through the blizzard in the mountain, you also need to use your wolf form in the "courtyard" area of the Mansion to dig chests out and to get through open windows I think.

I feel like I've used him quite a bit after the 3rd temple, which left me quite surprised after I read how many people said they felt there was barely any use to him after the twilight realms.

I know, I don't understand why Wolf Link gets the hate he does. It was a clever game mechanic IMO.

The wolf form was more or less broken in the Wii version. The waggling of the wiimote and the attacks of the wolf did not fit well together, making the gameplay feel disorientated. Fighting nearly all enemies became a pain in the ass without the use of midna's assistance.

I liked the Wolf form after the initial wolf period. It felt so restricted during the first part.

Rather enjoyed it afterwards though.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed being a wolf in TP?

Like many others have said. I enjoyed it, but I could have enjoyed it a lot more I think. Digging for things got boring after a while, and Wolf Link had unique abilities that were just.. underutilized. They could have made the wolf form better, I think.

Very well said, i think it was a very cool idea and that more could have been done. Hopefully in the future we will see a return to something similar.

I loved the wolf transformations. It reminded me of that other game that was cell-shaded and you played as a wolf, I can't remember the name of it, which bothers me 'cuz I loved that game.

I think you mean Okami.

Which I have sadly never played.

Yes, that is what I meant. Thank you. You earn my love. I'm off to a pawn shop to look for a cheap copy of it now.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed being a wolf in TP?

Whilst playing Twilight Princess I found it difficult to play as the wolf to begin with; I remember the first time you had to battle the three large shadow monsters which are revived if you leave one alive with the others dead. I found it very hard to figure out how to create the circle of energy around Link so that you could attack them all at once - I think I died three times in a row before understanding the right method to the actions.

After this I actually enjoyed being the wolf as it was a fun method of moving across large spaces and also it was easier, in some aspects, to kill enemies.

yeah, combat was iffy at points. It was hard getting used to the controls and feel of it at first.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed being a wolf in TP?

I like being a wolf but I miss looking at Link's back. Nothing says a Zelda game like constantly staring at Link's back. Or at least his hat (MM.)

I enjoyed the other forms though. It was fun to do things, like swim and roll and sniff around and stuff. The Deku scrub is definitely the fastest form in MM besides the Bunny Hood, so spin-running really got me from place to place earlier in the game.
His susceptibility to fire was a bit of a nuisance, but it's to be seen since he's a plant. Most of all, it was sad and ADORABLE! Really not sure how to take that one.
