Four Swords Adventures, eh?

It's not released in Australia yet. So what's the deal with it, do you have to have four GBA's to have four players? Does having four players change anything? Is it essential to the series, or is it just a spin-off like the GBA version? Anything else I need to know?
Please explain, I'm curious.

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

Ok, for 2+ players (so any multi-player at all) you need GBA's and link cables for everybody playing, this does make sence as without that alot of the puzzles would be impossable as everyone would have to stay on the same screen.
I have yet to do multi-player but I would assume that it does not change, the one player game uses all 4 characters, so I think the 4 player would be the same.
This game doesn't have a huge number of plot twists (or any at all really) it's one of those ones that people sturggle to place in their timelines but that don't really affect any other games.
Just in case you ask, it's worth buying for just the 1 player mode.

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

You can play with one, two, three, or four players. If you're not playing four players, another player has the remaining Links following him. Those Links can be controlled individually to solve some of the puzzles, and you can put them into line formations to help you push or life giant blocks. In single player, you can use a GCN controller, but two or more players requires all players to use GBA's.

The adventure mode in FSA is called Hyrulian Adventure (with a cheap deathmatch-feature called Shadow Battle), and the story's pretty damn solid, so yes, it must be considered in the Zelda timeline.

I honestly don't know if it will. It's already been released in Japan(duh), U.S.A, and the U.K. My best bet for you right now (since you can't find it anywhere down there) is to order it via the internet. Possibly go to Amazon.com or find someone who is selling a used/new coppy at Ebay.com. Those are my only suggestions for now.

Yes you do. I wish you could play it with four Gamecube controllers, but sadly enough, that isn't how they made it. You may ask "why?", it's because in multiplayer mode it wouldn't help you if everybody knew where you were/what you are doing (example: Shadow Battle)

Quote:

(I've only played single player, but this is what I've heard) I've heard that there are minor little details that change. I'm pretty sure you can't do the 4 formations in multiplayer mode (row, collumn, box, cross).

I think every Zelda game (except for the Phillips CD-i games) are essential to the series. Some people have said that FS (for the GBA) is the very first game in the Zelda timeline, and FSA fallows soon after it. If you want to know and understand the timeline theories, it's best if you've played all the games.

It comes out in Sptember.
Stuff comes out in Australia roughly the same time as the UK...
UK usually gets it a week or so before Australia though.

Ooops, sorry for the mistake. But there is one thing that bugs me... why does the UK/Australia get it later than us? Last time I checked, Australians speak english, so why not send them (and the UK) when the U.S. get's theirs? (I'm aware that not every country in the UK speaks english,...so I could see how that would be unfair for them.)

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

I thought the game was fun when I first got it... but then I tried multiplayer, and now I can't stand the singleplayer just thinking about how much more fun I could be having with a few friends. Really. It's that much better. That, and the game is so geared towards multiplayer that singleplayer falls short of usual Zelda standards.

My advise: unless you got friends willing to play it with you often, and of coarse the hardware, be sure you are a hardcore fan before you buy it.

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

For any Zelda fan, it's worth getting just for the singleplayer, but of course it takes multiplayer fun to new heights!

As for changes in the PAL version, I doubt there will be any significant changes, except for the standard additional languages and such.

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

Hmm, I don't get why a lot of people don't like the game. I think it's one of the best games in the series, probably because it's one I can play with my friends. Also, I liked the excellent graphics incorporated into a top-view classic Zelda game. It is worth the money; trust me.

Hmm, language equals worth now?

Anyway, I'm sure there's a good reason for that, I do remember Europe getting Metroid Prime before Japan did...

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

Bascially, FSA is like the GBA one, only you play it on the GCN and it is a whole lot harder. It's pretty fun, and I'm considering buying it soon.

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

Hmm, it isn't that similar to the GB one... it's much better, with the formations, it taking place in Hyrule, and the character interaction. Oh, and better graphics.

Re: Four Swords Adventures, eh?

It *is* really good. There were spots with actual, y'know, talking, unlike CERTAIN four-player games (I'm looking at YOU, Gauntlet!). They did change some things (puzzles, mostly) in multiplayer, mostly because you can have multiple people moving around seperately. The single player mode is still pretty awesome (and since you control all the Links, there's no chance of some doofus running off and being a jerk! Mwa ha ha!). If you've played the first Four Swords, then it's even better, because it's more of a sequel to that than anything else. The reason it needs the GBAs, though, is because when you go inside buildings or caves, the view switches to the GBA. In Single-Player, the view appears on the TV screen, but in multiplayer that wouldn't work.

So, in closing, it's good. Don't think it's just a cheap plea for money, which I actually thought it was, at first (didn't know it was a sequel!)
