Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

I don't know if this has been discussed on these forums much, but DAMN is it annoying when you're almost going to beat the game, then BAM. Go on a stupid little scavenger hunt for triforce pieces.

Did you like doing the hunt? Did you feel that it was necessary for the game to have?

Re: Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

I actually made a thread a short while ago about this. I, for one, enjoyed the trforce hunt. I loved exploring the little islands looking for the charts. And I always had enough ruppees for Tingle (its quite easy to, actually), so that wasn't a problem for me. The only annoying part, I'd have to say, is actually grappling up the pieces from the ocean. Other than that, though, I always look foward to that part of the game whenever I'm replaying it.

I found it extremely tedious especially when grappling for them. While I like exploring, I had already explored pretty much all the islands beforehand, so I knew what was there. I'm one of those people that's like, "Explore whole world now, deal with plot later" people.

Re: Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

I have about half of the Triforce charts (no shards yet) and I don't find it too bad. But then I have spent the last 6-7 hours or so just getting normal treasure charts, digging up the treasures that go along with them or going after heart pieces. So the getting the triforce charts aren't too bad.

Re: Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

The only annoying part I think is having to have the hookshot to complete the set.

You can get 6/8 pieces without visiting either of the sage dungeons...so why shouldn't I be able to have a complete set before I do any of the dungeons?

It's fine the first time you beat the game, and probably only the first time you beat the game.

Re: Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

none of the votes fits me.

i didn't mind it all, but it was a little to much. it was fun, but it could be longer, really. it was fun getting the charts, especially on Links oasis. (first Redead i ever saw: crappedd my pants). hauling the pieces was fun, but the boring part was going back to Tingles Island every 15 minutes!

thats the bad part.

You, know, you don't have to visit him every time you get a chart. You can just find all the charts and then get them deciphered all at once.

I never once had a problem with the ruppees. They are basically thrown at you everywhere during the triforce hunt (have you ever opened the pots near the triforce chart chests?) Anyway, I always had the maximun 5,000 ruppee amount by the time I went to Tingle.

yeah, one red, 3 yellow, 5 blue and a hell lot of green, but it was my first, and i rushed it a lot.

but that game was SO worth it! and igetting the one map to tingle cost 394 rupees or something, only worth up to 2 maps, and it was rarily full! (i could only carry , was it 1000?, ropees at a time, so that was really annoying...)

I don't hate it. I just don't like it at all. Felt like a big ole' chore and I generally stop playing as soon as I get to the collecting part.

Re: Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

I hated it. It was just so boring for me, and since this is the only Zelda where I didn't like exploration I hated it more. But the most enjoyable part was getting the chart in the Oasis. I love fighting the ReDeads.

I was extremely patient during this quest, I went to each location on the map, horizontally.

Well, the game kind of assumes you have the 5000 ruppee wallet at that point. One of Tingles maps he gives you in the mail shows the locations of the ruppee fairies.

Re: Did anyone else hate the Triforce Charts/Pieces in Wind Waker?

You have to do it alternatively to take away from the boringness of it. Collecting the Triforce Charts was fun. Collecting the actual peices, however, was not. So I highly suggest you alternate bewteen getting the charts and peices. DO NOT get all eight charts first then get all the peices. Alternate! Get a chart, collect some rupees (if you don't have enough to pay Tingle), have Tingle desipher it, search for the Triforce peice, repeat. It balances out the fun of searching for the charts and tediousness of searching for the peices. You might actually enjoy this part of the game if you do it this way.

This. It feels like pointless busywork when they could have done something cool with that like mini dungeons.
