Zelda's Sword

What kind of sword is Zelda holding in the official artwork of her for Twilight Princess? Here's a link to the pic I'm talking abouthttp://www.zeldawiki.org/images/9/95/Princess_Zelda.png
And just for fun, If Zelda had a horse, what would it look like and what would its name be?

It looks like Zelda is holding a fencing sword. It's not exactly a fencing sword but the blade in that pic looks really skinny to be one.

Zelda did have a horse in the comic books....but I don't know what it was called but the comic books aren't canon.

But I could see Zelda riding a white horse like the one in OOT she and Impa escape on

It looks like a royal sword, probably for European style fighting.

I was wondering too... it looks like a fencing sword of sorts, but if I'm honest, it looks like a daintier version of a longsword.

I see it more as being a royal ceremonial sword, (kind of like the one used in Queen Elizabeth's coronation) rather then a weapon. But I could be wrong.

It looks way too much like a ceremonial sword.

I'd rather say it's more of a vehicle for her magic than an actual, useful physical weapon.

Agreed, it as a magic focus or as a royal symbol seems more likely (does she use it in the Puppet Zelda battle?)

I just look at it, and it just seems too narrow, dainty and ornate to be a real weapon. I'm sure it would shatter or bend if used too roughly.

As a matter of fact, yes. It's used to summon the magic orb things for the game of tennis. So the vehicle for her magic theory sounds right.

The sword just seems like a royal symbol to me. Like when she drops it after surrendering to Zant, it's sort of a symbolic act of giving up her royalty or her ruling of the kingdom.

Although she does use it in the Puppet Zelda fight, it wasn't actual sword combat. Ganondorf was just using it to get a stab in at Link whenever he could make her swoop down.

I've got to agree with the channelling magic theory but if you look up "rapier" on google images you'll get a lot of results that look an awful lot like the sword she's holding. So I'm guessing that even if it isn't made for actual combat, it might be a rapier of some sort. Besides, it still has to have some sort of name. It can't just be "a sword" or "Zelda's sword"

As for the horse thing.... I don't really care... I'm sorry....

But yeah she uses that sword in the gannondorf battle. (so it's probably not gonna shatter or get bent )

Probably just some ceremonial sword, for knighting people and such.

Doesnt Zelda ride a white horse at the end of TP? I havent played that game in over a year, so I could be wrong.

Not a fencing sword but a light one handed one that would be strong but easy to wield. Fitting for a princess or a young queen. The way she is holding it although does give away that she actually knows how to use it. I like this badass-Zelda we are seeing now.

I imagine she would have a pure white horse. A pure-bred steed. You know the usual horse for royalty.
