Windwaker was fun the first time
Zelda Windwaker was kind of fun the first time through. It wasn't bad when I played it again for 100% and 3 heart. After the fourth time playing it, the game was getting quite boring even when I added some cheat codes to it.
There were major things I didn't like about the game. 1. Feels to kiddie like. The cel shade was not that bad of an idea, but feels too kiddie like. I'm fine with this style of handhelds but not consoles. 2. No skipping cut scenes. This game has a lot of cut scenes which was not bad the first few times, but now it's just boring. 3. No skipping dungeons. This game really forces you to play the dungeons mainly in order. Even if you use a cheat to try to skip ahead it can lead to stuck glitches and the game advances as well (like how outset will change if you leave and come back) 4. Figurines not fun to collect. They made this so boring to do, I did it once and I'll never do it again. I was fine with the three picture limit deal, but did they have to force us to advance the day before getting him to make another. This was so boring to do. Since I'm a zelda fan I'll like a game the first time through, probably even the CDI games. SO I have to play through it a few times before I can really judge it. So sorry WindWaker you have to go on my least favorite zelda game that I played due to your weak replay value. |

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
It took you four playthroughs to even start to get bored with it and you somehow managed to to MAKE A THREAD COMPLAINING ABOUT IT?
What the hell, Zu?

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
I preferred the cel shading to the graphics in OoT and MM. It was smoother, and the aesthetic fit the feel of the game. It was also clever by virtue of the designers making a decision that they would not participate in the war of graphics engines and concentrate on making a good game. And Wind Waker is a good game. It has a compact plot that rewards returning fans but also serves as a good introduction. It neatly fits into the mythos of the series. The dungeons were well designed and set up so that one could only progress in a linear fashion, but were still different enough from previous games to be interesting. The overworld was set up to encourage exploration, which is one thing fans wanted, even though the implementation of it wasn't the best. Yes, it's short on dungeons and long on waiting around for the stupid boat to get places. Would I be pissed if I bought it the day it came out? Probably. But I have to say it's one of my favorite games.

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
WW averages out at 20 hours.
you played through it four times. It took you 80 hours to form an opinion on something? How about this? I think the reason why you played the hell out of it for so long was because YOU WERE HAVING FUN and now you're not having because you burned yourself out of it?

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
Yes. If it takes that long for an opinion it is a "now that I look back on it after x playthroughs" opinion as in CHANGED or ADAPTED opinion. I have fun playing it now and I'm on my 7'TH PLAYTHROUGH. Use an honest opinion. EDIT: 300TH POST!

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
I liked WW. Some points are plausible, others are outright stupid. Cutscenes get boring after awhile? Do you waste your time watching cutscenes over and over again to found out how long until they bore you? You could either like it, or not.

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
Uh, if that were true you might know that TP is the ONLY Zelda that allowed you to do that.

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
WW never bores me no matter how many times I play through it. I just finished my eighth playthrough this past summer. I have no idea why people complain about the cel-shading. The game would NOT look good with realistic graphics. Its the colorfulness of the cel-shading that really absorbs me into the world. And whats with the complaining about dungeon order? As far as I know, every Zelda game has you completing dungeons in a certain order.

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
Honestly? I'm bored with both TP and WW, though I enjoyed WW more and for longer.
I'll be bored until the next Zelda games comes out, then I'll beat it in a few days and then I'll come here to ***** and moan about how crappy it was and how many flaws it didn't fix...and then I'll come up with a few suggestions to make it better.

Even if you played WW 4 times in a six year time span, that's still playing one particular game quite frequently. Perhaps you played WW(and possibly other Zelda games) in too short of a time span. Give yourself time off with it for 5 years, and by then, you'll probably be overcome with nostalgia.

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
Eh, the only part I hate about replaying Wind Waker is the Forsaken Fortress, and collecting the triforce shards. The rest keeps me amused. There's just something about visiting Dragon Roost for the "first time" that always refreshes everything for me! I dunno, its just a great feeling... But yeah, wait a year or 2 before replaying these games. Im about to replay Majora's Mask, as soon as I buy some Wii points!

Re: Windwaker was fun the first time
I loved WW. It was a good game. I've played it over and over more than 5 times. I just didn't like how you had to watch every cutscene. WW got boring after I played it a bunch but I don't think it's to Kiddie, I don't think it's bad that you can't skip cutscenes or dungeons, and figurine collect was what I did when I got stuck between dungeons.
![]() WW is a great game. Really, there is nothing bad about it.
