ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.
Here's what I thought was wrong with TP and how I think you could fix it. You could just skip the next section because it's going to end with me asking you what you thought was wrong with it, and what you'd do ot fix it...and perhaps add a few things to the mix as well. Also, please note that I use the Gamecube version. So there's lots of mentions of 'A's and 'B's. The first thing I'll get too because I'm blunt and stupid like this is the lack of Stealth options. *Notice the Options part*. Specifically, giving me the opportunity to avoid confrontation when I felt it wasn't nessescary, which due to it's slightly repetitive nature was all the time, espescially for you minimalists out there. It would've seriously helped you, I think. And taking out the ability to crouch at will, prop up against a wall or some such really limited dungeon design and scope. I would've put them in, and asked the designers to give us some puzzles and rooms we had to crawl or edge into up high or something. Which would be awesome. The second thing I wanna discuss it the sword moves. While moves 1-5 (and I'm on record for already saying this) were really great (I could've added something to Helm Splitter, but I'll get to that), 6 and 7 wern't. Number 6: Jump Strike was a tad useless. It's charge up time and limited range kind-of limited it's usefulness to me and people who share my play-style; reliance on spontanious and hard to predict moves to constantly hammer on the enemy until he falls to ground. Incidentally, I don't get 'screamed' by Redeads all that often. What I would've done to this move to increase it's effectiveness is...(I say this again): 'Press 'A' to begin a Jump Attack, then press 'B' to Preform the Jump Strike!' It would've really helped me out immensly. And come on...I can do the Spin Attack Spontaniously, why not this? Number 7: The Great-Spin is just plain useless unless you're a mastermind at dodging and pulling off instantanious spins repeatedly until the enemies fall to the ground. These guys don't die a lot, but I'm not one of them. I would change this so it increases the range of all of my attacks, not just the spin attack. And maybe call it the sword beam. Because that was indeed awesome. Number 4: At least I think the Helm Splitter was Number Four...anyway. I said I had something for this and I do. While a perfectly fine move all on it's own, there were a couple things I feel could've been included. For one, simply pressing the 'A' button after performing a Shield Attack is fine, but I think that maybe you should have the option to press 'B' to actually attack while flipping over the enemies heads. That, or press 'A' to preform an additional jump off the enemies heads to get a better start at the people behind them...or you need to retreat because you're out of hearts and potions and you don't want to waste that last Fairy. (Wait, you're out of Faries? Noob!) The third thing I want to discuss, and it ties into the second thing, is the enemies AI and the placement thereof. The AI of all the enemies could've been a lot better (my snarkish side wants me to say: It could've been actually challenging). They could've attacked the moment they got near enough instead of waiting a few seconds, they could even have utilized a little strategy, but instead the only tough enemies in this game are the Darknuts. And they're awesome. But back to my original point; A tougher AI would've been more immersive to me, in that you would be divinely interested in the enemies that are rushing you if their AI was any good. Also, I want to note a little bit about the placement. The placement of bad guys was okay, but I think that Nintendo could've tried harder...like hiding behind cracks or fortifications that they built up themselves instead of simply standing on the towers looking like targets were carved onto their forhead. So yeah. The Fourth thing I want to get too is items: The ones in the game I had issues with, items I wish were in the game and ways to fix existing ones. Many of the items were awesome and good choices, but some needed work and others simply didn't need to exist. The first item I had serious issues with is...(wait for it) *dun* *dun* *dun* The Magic Armor! Oh how I hated that suit of armor! How I wish it was something else instead! That suit was annoying. It was like this giant red-and-gold rupee vacuum that I payed an extensive amount of money for, that simply won't taking my hard-earned cash. Oy, that was in serious need of alternatives. Okay, I like the idea: A suit of armor that takes rupees away to prevent people from cheating the final boss. I'm cool with the idea, but it needed work. Specifically, it needed a different function. While I would've preferred this suit or Armor provided some other function (which I will talk about later), here's a better way to handle this. Do any of you remember that one defense upgrade that the Fairies will give you, the one that cuts damage in half? Give the armor that function, and get rid of the rupee drain. Please. I'm begging you. My wallet can't take this endless emptyness! The second item I had issues with was the 'Spinner'. Again, another great idea, crap execution. While very useful in the Arbiters Grounds, where were the big tracks that made the Spinner nessescary in the other dungeons? Where? It was like this one-time awesome item Nintendo through out the window to make room for other things. It could've been great and a lot of fun, but no. Basically, I just want a few more miles worth of track, and the ability to make the top turn upside down. That would be awesome. Naturally, there are a couple items I wish had existed in the game. I'll list them now and why. The first item I wish was in the game is the Lense of Truth. You can chalk this up to me wanting to spend as little time as a wolf as possible (because I really hated being that clumsy dog), but you could also chalk it up to me not wanting to navigate Midna's conversation window to become a wolf to press 'X' when I start moving slower than usual (a tell tale sign of Ghost Rats) when I just want to equip the lens and then press 'X'. The second item I wish existed is the magic armor from WW. Not the one in TP, but the blessed one of awesome from WINDWAKER. The purple crystal thing that enveloped you in purple force fields as long as it was up. This I wouldn't mind feeding rupees so much because I have an easier method of de-activating it. Also, I wish it was the color blue. Because I love that color. The third item I wish existed is the Mask of Truth. Remember the Heroe's Charm from WW? I want the Mask of Truth to do that too. And be equiped similarly to a sword or shield. Why would I want such a useless item, you ask? Because I simply do. It's my wim. The final item I wish existed is something I call the 'Oocoo Armor' (working title-not my idea) as a sort of replacement for the current 'Magic Vac-Armor'. Here's how I think it should work. *clears throat* "After jumping off an edge of any height, press 'A' to glide. Now that your gliding, you have three 'Wing Icons' below, similar to the Epona Sprint icons. These are your own 'Turbo Icons' in that every time you use them, you gain a tremendous speed boost and full on flight. Otherwise, you just glide. To help prevent puzzle breaking, you would only regain your Wing Icons after spending a few seconds off the ground. While not Turbo-ing, you are simply gliding. Up-down, left-right, the sky is yours to an extent. Also, at anytime, you may draw your sword for a sweeping attack, but when you do, your glide stops." How do you like that? Now imagine the Boss fight with the Dragon with that armor instead of the double-hookshots. Awesome, ain't it? To help compinsate for those two, because I have no problem with them, the suit ain't all that maneuverable. Gotta use the Turbo strategically for tight turns. ![]() I think that's it, really...oh, wait. I have one last thing before I turn the thread over too you. The plot. While I have no problem with any of th supporting character, the weird dream the third light spirit shows you, or anything (though I suppose Midna could've been a bit quieter), the main issue is Zant. This was supposed to be his game, but then it was HijackedbyGanon. In that Gannondorf was revealed to be behind the whole thing the whole time. No. Just...just no. Zant was an awesome boss in my opinion, if not a little easy. Make him a little tougher (his AI was one of the rare places were it was positively perfect. Particularly in the sword duel). Oh, I'm sorry, you want to see the inside of Hyrule Castle? I have an idea for that: Zelda rescue mission...except that she's in Midna's body...okay, screw it, I have no idea where to go for that, but I like the idea. Maybe saving the King of Hyrule? Then being Knighted? ![]() Meh, who knows. Anyway, those are just my ideas of what was wrong with the game and how to right those wrongs. Your turn: What was wrong with it, and how would you right that wrong?

Re: Twilight Princess: What was wrong with it, and how to fix it!
Oh for god's sake, isn't there anything about Twilight Princess that people don't hate?
I personally think it was a great game, particularly if you consider it as a stand-alone title. The only thing that I think could have been fixed is...its identity. It often felt like it was trying too hard to be like Ocarina of Time, so as a result, it didn't bring as much to the Zelda series as it could have. |

For OoT, there's that blasted Water Dungeon, though that was always a lot of fun after I beat it. In WW, it was the Triforce hunt. I hated that bit so much, I just wanted to get it done as soon as possible, so I went hunting and got around six pieces before confronting Gannondorf for the first time. I'll admit, Twilight Princess is a very enjoyable game. Unfortunantly, I can't see it as a stand-alone title because of...well...all the other games that came before it. This wasn't really a review, so much as me pointing out and whining about the flaws in the game. If this was a Review, I would've been yelling at the top the towers about how complex yet simple some of the puzzles could be as well as how real the game world felt. I'd have a real review ready, but I'm not willing to type it out right now.

Re: Twilight Princess: What was wrong with it, and how to fix it!
What I would rate it? Sure.
I rate it a 4 out of Five. It's a great and enjoyable game, but it tries to be OOC so much that it tossed out some of the more fun mechanics they had in WindWaker. Also, what few side-quests there are, two of them are really big enough to deserve any note and one is so difficult I've never completed it. Great game, if slightly repetitive: 4/5.

Re: Twilight Princess: What was wrong with it, and how to fix it!
You know, I agree with most of your points. Except for a few, those being Ganondorf and the Magic Armor.
The Magic Armor is a very useful item, especially since there are so many rupees spread across Hyrule, and not much to spend them on. The Magic Armor gives all those useless rupees a purpose in life. And on the topic of Ganondorf: Yeah, maybe Zant should have been the main villain. I admit Zant had a lot of potential, but it's not like they just dropped Ganondorf in at the end of the game with no explanation. His role in the story was well established and well thought out. |

Re: Twilight Princess: What was wrong with it, and how to fix it!
Okay, before I get to replying to your points, I'm going to say something astounding:
People often complain about TP being too much like OoT. It has its similarities, but I think it's made out to be its own game, at the same time. You, on the other hand, see it differently. You WANT it to be like other Zelda games. So many fans, including myself, will disagree with you on this, since we want TP to be a DIFFERENT game from others. Isn't that what makes a great game, truly? Originality? Quote:
I do believe TWW was the first and only game to have these stealth options you are talking about in it. Yeah, it was cool; for a game like TWW, where Link was cutesy and sly. I, however, never even thought about the need for such a funtion in TP. Quote:
Quote:
I liked the Great Spin simply because it reminded me so much of the spin you learn in TWW. Plus, it's good for timing a powerful strike to oncoming groups of enemies. Think about it: you're surrounded on all sides by advancing monsters. Carefully, practiced enough to execute it to perfection, you start powering up your next sping attack. Range and power aren't bad for this situation. It's bound to hardly ever occur, but there are instances in which this method could be used. At least, I think so. Been ages since I've played the game, though. :X Quote:
Quote:
My bat issue aside, I had an easy time defeating most enemies, which made some aspects a lot easier, but others could have been tougher. On the other hand, this is average Zelda-ness, and it never really bothered me. Darknuts are awesome monsters to fight, since they are difficult and actually have skill. It does make the Cave of Ordeals tough to conquer, however, and this is why the Magic Armor is GOOD! --More on this later on. Quote:
How the monsters were set up was basic Zelda monster set-up formula, and, again, never bothered me. Some of them had towers to stand on and shot flaming arrows down for FREE, which I found to be pretty cool. And some monsters do seem to come out of nowhere, such as swarms of BATS, which answers part of your problem. Beyond that, however, it's pretty much a lost cause. I doubt they're going to seriously put Ninja-ing monsters into a Zelda game, bats being the exception, not the rule. *Waves fist angrily at all the stupid bats* Quote:
*Drum beat is heard, getting gradually louder, until a gong is struck* THE CAVE OF ORDEALS! For the most part, it's pretty easy. Your basic enemies jumping at you left and right, but all dying easily enough by your awesome might. Yet, there is one room in particular that is rather hard... It is one with THREE Darknuts in one room, all of which must be defeated. As if one wasn't hard enough, he now has his buddies there to help him get revenge on you! Get biggest wallet, go through Cave of Ordeals, collect all money on the way (there is a LOT), then snap out the Magic Armor the minute you get to that last room, and execute all your anti-Darknut moves. Full hearts and all faries preferable, but not required, depending on skill. That room, plus getting money from chests when wallet is full is why I like the Magic Armor. Hehe, and trust me, the latter is quite important, if you're like me at all. ![]() Quote:
Also, why complain about the awesome SPINNER, when there is an even more useless SLINGSHOT in the game? You use it once, twice, maybe up to five times tops, and then you're done. It gets replaced by the BOOMERANG, and then later the BOW, as the game progresses. The Spinner, on the other hand, is a one-of-a-kind item, which was unique to this game, and actually quite worthwhile. Maybe it could have been used for other things, but, hey, so could other items. Quote:
The Lens of Truth? Haha! I find this funny and quite ironic! Think about all the haters complaining about TP's likeliness to OoT even as we speak! And now you suggest the LENS OF TRUTH, when it wouldn't have served any purpose in the game, and would have only been tacked-on? I found the turning into a dog a new aspect to Zelda, which helped make this game original, and was actually kind of fun. You could dig under things, had to kill Poes like that, and even had to track down people/monsters like that. All this was a unique part of TP, and now you're suggesting replacing it with the Lens of Truth, which could only be used to see invisible things? Pfft! Quote:
Quote:
Just no. Quote:
Oh, maybe just the leaf in TWW? I see no reason why Link should have to glide through the air, using ARMOR, mind you, when the game was fine with the cannon... Quote:
I agree with this statement and its all around truthfulness! Quote:
EDIT IN: $10 says no one will even want to read all this text. ![]() |

Re: Twilight Princess: What was wrong with it, and how to fix it!
You owe me ten bucks, I read the whole thing.
Okay, number 1: Do I want it to be like other Zelda games? Well, no. But there are things I think were good ideas that should've been incorperated from previous games, expanding, them. In reality, that's what I feel this game was trying to do. I simply gave it some other ideas to, I dunno, do that better. If I WANTED a truly unique Zelda game, (much like Windwaker with the Great Sea...I love that Ocean, truly, I do) I'd have suggested using a pistol instead of the Bow and Arrow that you traditionally have, and have it be not all that powerful (with the speed we send arrows flying, we may as well be using machine guns), it'd be just like them (maybe with some additional mechanic involved, such as having to reload after everyshot to compensate for an Arrows speed), but last time I suggested THAT, people went ballistic. A Wild West themed Zelda? Awesome and unique. To the rest of the fandom? *foams at mouth* IT WULDNT BE ZELDAAAAAAAA, NEEWWWWB! So forgive me for not wanting to repeat the experiance. Number 2: Let's look at this from my prespective, shall we? We're talking about a guy who would slice off your armor straps then stab you through the gut. We're talking about a guy who would feint about not being able to defend himself then slice you in half with the Mortal Draw. We're talking about a guy who uses his mobility to circle around you and slice you from behind while you're still going 'Whoa, where'd he go?!?!" I'm not saying he fights dirty (well, maybe a little bit), what I'm saying is that Link fights SMART. I would think that increased stealth options would help capitalize on that. Besides, it would be optional, right? Right. Besides, flooring up against a wall wouldn't just be for stealth. Imagine that a room is locked, (and you don't have a key) but there's a crack in the wall just large enough to slide through. So you do. I'm saying it would've seriously helped dungeon design by giving the designers more options. Number 3: Okay, I'm skipping the bit on the Jump Strike and going to the Great Spin. *ahem* Wait, later you're complaining about me wanting it to be like other Zelda games, but then you like this move because it reminds you of the hurricane spin? (Okay, the Hurricane Spin was awesome) Dude! Anyway, I don't use the Spin Attack much anyway. I was just saying I wanted the move to extend the range of ALL of my attacks, not just the Spin Attack. That way it'd be more useful to myself, though I guess you use it enough to think otherwise. Number 4: Yeah, I know. Though I used the Helm Splitter on those Ice Men that threw spears at you in the Ice Dungeon. Killed them in one shot. I was just making suggestions on how to make it more useful. Number 5: AI is short for Artificial Inteligence, and is the thing used by monsters to determine their behaviour, when they attack, defend or retreat. I say that Zelda could use a smarter one. I agree with you on Darknuts, however. (They were awesome tough). Average Zelda-ness is too easy for me, ergo, why it bugged me. I thought I could be challenged more. Look at my signature. I don't say that because I'm bragging (okay, maybe a little) I'm saying that because I see it as a PROBLEM. But then, that's my opinion. Number 6: Placement just made the enemies even easier to kill. Seriously. I say they could be better. (Although it was a major improvement over earlier titles. Good work, Nintendo.) I'm not really sure why you hate bats though, I never had trouble with them. *takes cover in bomb shelter* Number 7: Okay, the reason I'm saying what I'm saying about the Armor is because I only ever used it once, and that was against Gannondorf in the final sword-fight. Even then, it wasn't that useful. Really. I can get through it without getting hit once. The reason I'm saying it would be better served as the purpose I suggested is because, while I suppose the armor is good for balance purposes, it's a real pain in the *** to take off. Having to press 'Start' and then switching to another suit of armor was so tedious. Just-just...ugh. Number 8: No, you're right. The spinner is awesome. I'm just saying it could've been used more! A lot more! Not just to get one or two heart-pieces and the slight scraps in later dungeons...though I suppose doing that would make the Sand Dungeon lose it's luster...hmmm... About the Slingshot? I know, it is useless! I'd rather lose it to the kids than keep it with me all the time...though I did use it to take out a team of archers before I had the bow, so it's not completely useless. Number 9: Okay, the reason I suggested that (and was perhaps why I was yearning a little toward previous games) was because I HATED being a Wolf. The controls felt so stiff, and attacking sent me forward a little bit, thus sending me off edges when I didn't want too. (have you ever gotten to that one level of the Island of Treasures at Lake Hylia? Then got sent off an edge due to a poorly judged attack? You couldn't get back up there due to the platforms being so high, so you have to pay ten rupees to get back up to the cuccoo place, and then another twenty to glide down to the island with no gaurantee that you'll actually make it). Plus the 'Dark Energy Field' was cheap as heck. Though I suppose it could've been done better. Like, say, if they made Link into more of a 'Werewolf' looking thing than an actual Wolf. That way they didn't have to make attacks that sent you forward a little, replacing them with swipes from your massive claws. That and so it would actually make sense that Goron's are afraid of you, as seen in Kakariko Village where EVERYONE hides inside when all it would take is a Goron to pound you to pudding. It would make more sense if it was a larger Werewolf, so that way there would actually be a contest between the two on 'who would I rather be?' Because right now, I would unquestionably be the Hylian because he's got better controls. Number 10: Well, you could also call it 'Nayru's Love' and call it good, but once again, I only wanted 'invincibility without repetition' I wanted to just press one button to turn it on and off, rather than having to cycle through a menu. Number 11: What? I just said I wanted it out of a whim... Number 12: Well, maybe we'd want to get around the Sky Dungeon a little bit easier? maybe? Also, I put in the limitations that I did so we couldn't *really* get to the City in the sky using the armor. You'd still have to come down sometime. And when I said 'Glide Mechanics' I didn't mean the floating that the Deku Leaf let us do. I meant actual gliding. Going down builds up speed, going up reduces speed until you go down anyway, you know. Besides, I think the Dragon would've been funner with that armor than the repetetive (though potentially life saving) Hookshot action. That's just me, though. Number 13: I'm glad we agree on this. Zant was awesome. Now keep in mind, this was me answering your critisms, LinkdOOd110, in a way that I hope was civil and appropriate. And I appreciate them. I wouldn't have gotten the idea for the Werewolf thing without your critism. Anywho, I hope you'll reply promptly so we can continue to whittle down and add ideas until we have the perfect 'what it should have been' picture. (Though that wouldn't really change anything, considering the game has already been made)... Anyway, I didn't see you offering up any ideas. Do you have any?

Re: Twilight Princess: What was wrong with it, and how to fix it!
I think OoT is a great game and possibly the best ever. It was also a revolutionary game, and the gameplay and music was great. I wish people would stop being so picky about TP. It is a great game, and a really fun one at that. There are flaws, as in every game, but it seems like the people who always say OoT was "my first video game love" seem to bash TP excessively. TP is great. OoT is great. They are just games, and I don't want to go out picking the stupid little "flaws" in each game. Enjoy it.

And I would not be complaining about the absense of Gannondorf! I don't CARE about Gannondorf. Get rid of him, I say! EDIT: And I do not appreciate you lying about the contents of this article. Not cool, dude. Not cool.

That I don't hate. Although the rest of the game wasn't as epic. The whole look of the game was nice, gave the expirience a great feel, it was just the gameplay. To me it felt very repetative, and some of the dungeons weren't very original. And Link transforming into a wolf is something the game would have been fine without. And ( Sorry if I'm wrong with this, it's been a few months since I last played Twilight Princess ) when Link goes to the Twilight Realm it would have been nice to be able to obtain some type of item that let you keep your original form. Sort of like aLttP did with the Moon Pearl. Another thing I had a bit of a problem with was the story, not the story itself, but how it was explained throughout the game. In my opinion, it could have been explained a lot more, or maybe even more often. Like by the time I learned more about the Twili, or about some other random thing, I've usually forgoten what the game had told me a boss or two earlier about the same thing. The controls were laso a pain, I don't know exactly why, but they just were. |

I'm probably one of the only people who thought that Twilight Princess was a fantastic game. Sure, it wasn't exactly original, but as a stand alone game, it was great! I would probably have given it more sidequests, though.

I've heard sidequests mentioned a lot. I liked the sidequests they did have. There might not have been as many as previous games, but some were lengthy and/or challenging, which is good. I suppose a few more could have been added, though. If so, I would have gotten a chance to enjoy the game more. *Already beat it 100%* *Pays Fulcon $10* I just lost $20 in two posts! Anyway... Quote:
In my opinion, if anything should have been incorporated into the game, it should have been something like the Ocarina, or other musical instrument. Maybe even a new one. Wolf howling was cool, but it wasn't as awesome as instruments, and couldn't be played just anywhere. I guess you get Epona's whistle, and blow weeds, but those don't really count, either. Using the Ocarina, the songs would have sounded more like they should have, and would have brought back some good memories, too. This I want! But some of your ideas just didn't go with how I had come to view TP as a game. Stealth, for example. Would have been practically pointless in how TP was arranged, and changes to accomodate would change the feel of the game entirely. The Lens of Truth, as well, bothered me a bit. It's been used in two games previously, OoT and its direct sequel, MM. No other games got that lucky, I guess, but having TP be the third game to have the item, and not even be directly linked off of either game, would be weird. Quote:
When you mentioned stealth, I thought of sidling walls, and crawling on the floor, which wouldn't go with TP much at all. But if we expanded, and said stealth meant sneaking up behind monsters, wriggling through hidden cracks in the wall, and the like, it would add a whole new feel to the game. Maybe good, maybe bad, I dunno, but it would be interesting. Quote:
![]() Spin attacking is awesome! Especially for cutting grass! Which is what I normally use it for anyway, and occasionally when I'm being surrounded by monsters. The fact of the matter is that the Great Spin is a good move, if you use it right, and a mediocre one at best if you don't. What I personally found annoying about it is that you need FULL HEALTH to execute it. Come on now! It would have been a LOT better without that added factor! Yeah, I could see it being full-health only if it were a GREAT move, like something that does 8X normal damage and is unavoidable, but not a spin attack! That's what ruined it for me, and I forgot to mention it in other post. ![]() And how does spin attacking increase range of all your other attacks? Do explain. Quote:
Yes, it would be more useful that way, indeed! Easier to time and such. Quote:
![]() And now that I know what it actually is, I can agree! But it also depends on monster and how deep it is in the game. Like, for example, those pathetic things in the beginning of the game, used for you to get the feel of fighting in the game and nothing else more or less, should probably stay the same. Always got me back in my destroying-all-who-oppose mood. But the later monsters, OTHER than the Darknuts which are awesome the way they are, could use some work. Except for bats. They're hard the way they are. Quote:
I'm not one to pay much attention to placement, myself. I see a monster and just run up to slash it to death. That's all. No thoughts on how it's placed. Might just be me, though. Quote:
If Magic Armor was considered an item rather than armor, it would be even better! Because you're right! So much easier to hit X or Y (plays GC version), than to hit Start, scroll over to armor you want, then hit Start again. Other than that, I still stand by my previous statements on it. Quote:
And slingshot is fail. Seriously. I don't even know why they put it in there. Quote:
Yeah, yeah, Midna has cheap attacks. Seriously. She mega-transforms at the end there, too. Remember? Think about how much butt-whooping she could do like that! Midna = over-powered, but awesome as a side-kick just the same. Plus, The Dark Energy Field was put in there because of the Twili creatures you had to kill all at once, which was clearly just to make the game harder. What they could have and should have done, however, is make it so that it's not a 1-hit KO, again going back to the difficulty of monsters. That way, you'd want to weaken each one down first, then go for the knock-out blow. Quote:
Werewolf Link would be so awesome! Who knows? Maybe he'll appear in a future game! And it is quite silly how everyone's afraid of an itty-bitty wolfie, but it's also funny, and provides some entertainment. Going into Castle Town as a wolf to go scare the guards and everyone. Some of the best laughs I got from that game came from that, I swear! Plus you can talk to the animals as a wolf. Talking to the kitties was cool. And having them follow you around was also cool. In fact, I really liked the animals in this game, period. ![]() Quote:

Well, when you want to, it is. The boss would be cool, and they could adjust his fighting style for that easily. And, I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed the first time I found out the weapon in that dungeon was just ANOTHER HOOKSHOT! "Oh boy, another hookshot! I've always wanted one!" Pfft! They probably just ran out of ideas and thought, "Why not another hookshot? Let's just put it in!" Made me mad. Quote:

Nah, just wouldn't be the same. It is fun to try to perfect the game, though. Quote:
But one thing that bothered me - and I got reminded of this while talking about monster difficulty - was the difficulty of the BOSSES. So many of them were so easy, I did them on my first or second try. What's really sad is that Gohma (or whatever the boss was in the Temple of Time) was the easiest and 6th (I think) boss. Come on, what's up with that? I go through a dungeon, figuring out puzzles, defeating monsters and mini-bosses, while collecting everything I can, expecting to end it with an awesome fight that actually challenges my abilities and makes me think of strategies. In this game, there is none. Just avoid attack, use new item, attack. Nothing more to it. NEEDS to be fixed in next game desperately! *And about the bats, I have some personal issues with the little buggers. Ever since OoT, which was my first Zelda game, I've been assaulted in every direction by bats, only to have them zoom out of my attack range. Been pushed off edges, into other monsters, and everywhere else by them. They're hard to hit with sword, boomerang, and arrows, especially when not targeted, which is sometimes hard, too. Best to target and shoot them with hookshot. Then you still have the issue of being attack by even MORE bats from behind. As if regular bats weren't bad enough, along come fire and ice bats! Don't get me started with THOSE! |
