3 heart challenge in Cave of Ordeals?

Has anyone done this and won? 'Cause I tried once and died...it was pretty bad. I got all the way to the ice section and then an Ice Bubble froze me to death...I died in one hit. Ugh, I was so sad...I never wanna try that again. xD

By three heart challenge I mean only 3 hearts and no faries...however purple chuchu jelly is fine. >_> That stuff nearly killed me like 4 times.

I honestly didn't think it was going to be that bad, the Savage Labyrith in TWW was a piece of cake even with 3 hearts...

No fairies? I was about to say it was not that hard once you have a good way to defeat each enemy, but no fairies... I think I never tried it...

It doesn't sound too hard, as long as you attack from the area that juts out above the next area, you'll be fine. With the 3 heart challenge, do you include only using your MS to fight, or you can use any item as well? I'll try it out.

Truth is, I attempted a few years ago...and I'm not even sure if I was wearing the Hero's Clothes or the Zora Armor...Geez. But, I used all the weapons I had.

Ugh, it wasn't a three-heart challenge, but in one room where I saw a freezard and a bunch of ice warriors... blew up the ice warriors with bomb arrows, then jumped down trying to stay away from the freezard. Turns out, there was one right below the elevated platform, so I got frozen.

Lol, freezing sucks so bad...It's like the worst thing that can happen.

One time I had 4 out of 9 hearts and I was doing a "Zora Armor" challenge on Snowpeak. A Freezard got me...Link loses 3 hearts, and then 1 more...suddenly a fairy revives Link...and then Link loses another 5 hearts before he broke out of the ice. I was so ticked. Ugh. D=

Yeah, learned that the hard way. Also same applies to jumping in ice cold water. xD

Ah yeas, the three heart challenge. I find that having the giant bomb bag upgrade and all three bags can be a big help, but I still failed before the 19th floor.

If you done it, you'd have bragging rights.

can i use the magic armor?

How about three hearts and no learned sword moves (except the first one that is forced).

Always look around the whole room and try to get the camera at an angle to look under you, that'll help.

That would definitely make it more challenging, since doing the roll behind and follow up with the cyclone-like jump attack from the back can be done by mistake sometimes. However, it does make fighting look more aesthetically pleasing.

I'm going to finish up beating LoZ (the 1st one) and then I'll start doing the 3 heart challenge and post later how it goes. Should be fun.

I tried that out about wearing Zora Armor and jumping in lava and in ice cold water; it works. Do you get more damage from enemies when you're hit by them while wearing Zora Armor?

I've tried the Cave of Ordeals with 3 hearts only, but I lose at the room with the first three Darknuts. It's harder than I thought. By the way, do you count using the 4 hearts that you can dig up as a wolf in the challenge, or you can't use them?

I did it twice but I didn't take pictures, I just had a bunch of friends over cheering me on. I think I still have my file of it so I'll take pictures of my progress and post em up here when I get to it.

I got to the last floor with 1 heart left and then got hit by a darknut and i died.

Am currently playing a minimalist (as allowed without glitches) run, died for the first time against temple of time's Darknut. Will attempt cave of ordeals minimalist once I'm done with the game and post how I do. (no shield, 1 bottle nothing inside, no sword moves except deadly blow, no quiver/bomb upgrades, no hawk-eye, no magic armor, and of course, 3 hearts only.) I accidentally grabbed a piece of heart already, but that's fine as long as I don't get 4 more.

Yeah, I did this challenge twice (same file). The second time was a B@#$%. Seeing especially that last room with 4 darknuts. And the room with the two Aeroflos and one darknut, seeing as you can't hurt the Aeroflos before jumping down. That is where I first took damage. What is even harder is doing the 3 heart challenge but no shield. I barely beat that challenge. It is so hard to f-ing beat with a shield as it is. I died a lot without the shield, and just kept re-doing it over and over, and finally got it. And by the way, Majrin Twil, you can't collect those 4 hearts. You can't heal, except by Purple chu, but that has risks in itself.

If you are doing the challenge here are some tips:

1) For Redeads, use a ball and chain. Lure 1 at a time, and then throw the ball and chain so it hits them but lands behind them. That way you kill them with the second hit on the retrieve.
2) For Stalfos, I got them together, and at the right time did a spin attack. Don't forget to bomb them!
3) For Freezards, go to one side, and before he starts to blow, run to the other side, then use the ball and chain by spinning it with the cursor aimed to the ground so not only you kill the Freezard but also the little guys it breaks into.
4) For Chilfos, use bomb arrows (2 are needed, one for the spear, one for the kill).
5) For Darknuts lure them 1 at a time.
6) For Armoses, also lure them 1 at at time, going row by row.
7) Rooms 48 and 49 are going to be hard. Try to not get hurt until 48, and then only take at most 1 heart of damage.

I hope the tips above help. It is what I used. But one important thing is: don't rush. There isn't a time limit. Take your time. And also don't give up, you will get it eventually.

Sounds challenging, but i have never heard of anyone doing it.

It is very hard to beat!

Well... Just went through my first run. Died at level 38 (second room with freezards). I had 1 and a half hearts left when entering. I got caught in their breath and simply ran into them another time. With more patience I'd have had no trouble with them. I'm sure I can get to room 48 next time.
