3 heart challenge in Cave of Ordeals?

i got the guide book and it tells u were everthing is in each room. even with that i would have no chance at doing this

I got to room 39 with all 3 hearts on my second try. (room with 2 darknuts)
I messed up... terribly. I tried a strategy on them that I had never used before and died. Should have just gone at them like I always do.

For the Stalfos I like to bring them together and ball and chain them. It kills them in one hit (counting bringing the ball back) and no bombs wasted for minimalist. I haven't beaten 3 hearts yet. I always die on 48. If I ever beat 48 I'm pretty sure 49 would be easy beacause on the regular runs I didn't lose hearts to the darknuts.

Third try.
reached room 48 with 2 hearts and a quarter.
I was quickly brought down to one quarter, and finally started to play well.
I messed up and shot the ball and chain instead of using it as shield and died with 1 Aeralfo and the darknut left.
I won't play again in a while probably.

I've never ever tried this, but I want to now, and will probably make a file in the future for doing so.

One question: Is the Magic Armor allowed for this challenge?

Magic Armor...No. Especially if you have 1000 rupees lying around. xD From the looks of it...this challenge is pretty tough. I'm not really cut out for it because when I realize that I'm dying I tend to panic.

For example Armogohma is a very easy boss, infact I was never hurt by him the first time I played TP. But when I did a Zora armor challenge, getting set on fire was an instant death. I got so panic-y I couldn't aim and shoot without my hand shaking...I DIED 14 times on that freakin' boss! Dx

I'll try another CoO run with 3 hearts later. Zora Armor freaks me out though, too dangerous.

No Magic Armor = 10X harder.

I don't know if I could do last room without, even with 20 hearts and 4 bottles of fairies. But then again, I've never tried. Too cautious.

It's actually quite easy except for a few rooms, so magic armor would mean it being almost as easy as a regular run if you are careful in previews rooms.
And just to note, i am not doing a zora armor run, just minimalist. everyone who thinks TP is very easy, should definitely try this out. I'm having lots of fun with it.

Lol...I can't do minimalist because I like my shield too much. But I have a file that only has 3 hearts no faires/potions and no master sword with the zora armor only. Lol...I'm stuck in Snowpeak because everything is an instant kill for me. X_x

Good luck. I considered doing snowpeak with zora armor, but wuzzed out. I consider that a much tougher challenge than no shield, since ball and chain is almost as good a shield (just by not messing up).
Also... actually no master sword? or simply not using it?
I wanted to try all the sword glitches, but decided against it in the end since I didn't want to get accidentally stuck somewhere because of it.

Not using the Master Sword...until Zant, Zelda and Ganondorf, because it's impossible to kill them with anything else. Using the Ordon Sword in the Twilight Palace is so freakin' hard. I basically got swarmed by a bajillion twilight monsters and couldn't kill them in one hit with the Master Sword's Sol powerup. Was unbelievable. T_T

Even with some fairies, don't think I can do it.

Oh, I couldn't dream of doing this, man. That'd be scary.

I'm good, but not that good.

I never tired doing that, I had like 16 hearts and I still thought it was hard! D:

It was so hard to beat with one and a half row of hearts with three blue potions.

I don't think I'll ever try it three hearts.

Minimalist:
Attempt number four: Messed up in room 43?, was using a bomb from the ledge to try and kill mostly everyone, and I got hit by an arrow while putting down the bomb. game over.
Attempt number 5:
Reached room 48 with 2 hearts and a half left. Got only a single hit from an aeralfos. Once they were disposed, the Darknut was easy.
Room 49:
I thought: Well... the three darknuts aren't placed in places hard to avoid, so I jumped down to the first one, and immediately received a hit. I don't know why, but the other darknuts were alerted, and... well, three darknuts at the same time was a little bit more than I could handle (2 more, exactly).
If I can manage to fight them one at a time, next time I'm sure I'll finish, if not...... anyone has a good strategy for fighting multiple darknuts?

Okay, for room 49 what you want to do, is go to one side of the ledge, then after the darknut underneath has gone closer to that side, run to the other side, and drop as close to the wall as possible. Then just fight him normally and defeat him, making sure to stay by the wall underneath the ledge. Then sticking as close to the wall as possible, inch your way around the left or right side of the room until the closest darknut notices you. Then go back to underneath the ledge and defeat him. Then take out the final darknut. This is the strategy I use, and it always works. Hope that helps.

Thanks! that's pretty much what I tried to do (except for the ledge thing) and failed. Do you think that dropping bombs on the darknut under the ledge while still being on top will help? or will it just alert the rest?

Using bombs might work, but if you are doing a minimalist, you might not have enough. And plus the bomb needs to be close enough, and needs to hit the darknut in the back. So it would be pretty difficult I assume. If you really wanted to you can use bomb arrows on the darknuts standing in the center, but beware, it will alert them to you and so you will have to deal with 3 (or 4 if it is your 2nd time) fast moving darknuts. If you are pretty good using bombs, and have extra (seeing as this is the last room), I would say why not try to hit the one below the ledge. As to what I have seen, the darknuts are only alerted if you get close enough to them, or if you hit them.
