How did you find out how to fish?

One thing that bugs me about TP Wii is that it doesn't give you any instructions whatsoever about how to fish at the beginning. This really annoyed me, since at the beginning I was there for such a long time just trying to find out how to fish.

So how did I found out? Well...

A friend of mine who doesn't play Zelda, or that many adventure games at all, stumbled upon me playing and asked if he could try. He found out how to fish during his FIRST TRY! You're apparently supposed to pull the Wii Remote up when you realized something's bit. I was like, HOW THE HECK DID YOU FIND THAT OUT?! I thought it would use a button or something, not the motion sensor.

So, how did you find out how to fish?

I equipped it like I did every other item in the game, looked at water, and pressed the button I assigned to it. The end.

I didn't know about the fishing rod at all my first time I played it. I tried herding the cat to get all the way to the building...that didn't work out.

But then I figured out how to fish.

The thing that bugged me was that you had to catch TWO fish. I caught the first one and was like "Okay, well that didn't do anything" so I went off and tried doing a bunch of other stupid stuff until I finally looked up a walkthrough and was like. >:O Dude.

Funny, I did the exact same thing. I actually didn't even know I was supposed to get the cat home, too, making it take even longer. I spent my first 5 hours in Ordon village. >.>

I played on Gamecube the first time around, so I didn't have this problem until later.

I was at a pal's house, and her nephew was playing, and couldn't figure out the fishing rod. So me and this ten year old boy sat down and screamed at the television basically until we got it right.

I found out how to fish through trial and error. When I first started I kinda sorta got it when I noticed Link pulled up fast but stayed when I caught a fish. At that moment I realized what i needed to do. I casted my line, pulled up and sure enough I had a fish. Was it annoying at first but it was gratifying figuring it out.

Use common sense.
I just tried it a couple of times until I figured it how to do it.
Once you catch a fish, you just hold the wii chuck up in the air. Thats all.

I didn't. My dad found out for me...

I equipped it and then put it in the water. Just kinda seemed like common sense to me.

Checked the internet for help. Strategy guides are helpful

You have no idea how long it took me to figure out how to catch a fish for that cat at the begining of the game, I feel so stupid looking back on it now...

Trial and error. I don't recommend that method though. I recommend a strategy guide for that. Takes less time *is bitter*

I just fished like i fish in real life: lift up the wiimote and chuck the line into the water.

I followed the instructions on the screen. It was a bit annoying to get it to work, but it's not like I didn't know what to do.

I was being an idiot that day anyway. Didn't even remember how to equipt items.
Once I got that straightened out, I pressed B and swung around for a bit, then common sense hit me like a truck.
I sat there for five minutes thinking, "...was I that stupid?"

Doesnt it tell you how to fish in the manual that came with the game?
