Windwaker is better then TP!

I think this because its fresh and it offers something new. Also its harder and more happier. What do you think is the better game and why?

I didn't think that TWW was harder than TP, quite the contrary, but I still preferred it.

The title is a good attention grabber.

Both games have their pros and cons, I like them both equally. If I had to choose one or the other I'd choose TP due to its longer length amongst other factors.

I made a huge review thread of TWW, so I don't have to explain why I like it.

I agree 100% that TWW is better than TP.

Maybe I wass just younger but I felt I had a bigger journey in WW then TP. But also I expected TP to be as good as OOT and I expected nothing of WW so that might be a factor.

Twilight Princess. Better land, better items (Ball & Chain > Skull Hammer), more interesting bosses, better dungeons, actual swordplay, and a Ganon battle that doesn't suck.

Of course, that's my opinion.

Re: Windwaker is better then TP!

To be honest, although TP was the first game I got, I found it harder than tWW, and I'm roughly in the same position in both (the final dungeon). I just really couldn't be bothered to finish either.

Maybe I should.

The size and scale of the journey seemed bigger and more epic in WW. It was also more happy feeling, a huge reason why i liked it so much. It's got a good feel to it.

Re: Windwaker is better then TP!

I liked tWW because of it's less intense art style. If I'm honest, I felt less pressured to save the world and I liked just exploring from time to time. You don't have much of that in TP.

Yes, the artistic design was fantastic for TWW. Nintendo actually spent some quality time developing TWW, unlike TP which was just instantly ported to the Wii. TP was okay, but didn't satisfy me as much as it should have.

If I am correct, then TP was the first and only Zelda game made for 2 consoles, right?

Re: Windwaker is better then TP!

Wind Waker's art style makes my heart have a fuzzy glow. ^_^
It's a charming game, the story's great and the characters are so full of life.

Then there's twilight princess, which is epic because of the eeriness and Midna. Midna is the shizzle, and I've never used that word before. (Midna. <3)

I love both games equally.

Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. But I feel sometimes people toss Twilight Princess around too much, I think Twilight Princess is awesome, it had a great story, great gameplay, etc.

In the long run, yea I picked Wind Waker. But Twilight Princess is still awesome.

I'm not here to criticise or defend either game, but I don't understand what you're saying there. TWW was a great game, but it was clearly rushed - two dungeons were removed from the game. TP spent years in development. The game might have been rushed in order to accomodate Wii controls (which is why some people feel as though they're 'tacked on') but I think it was rushed in any way other than that due to the years it spent in development as a Gamecube game.

Re: Windwaker is better then TP!

Twilight Princess is a much better game, for several reasons. Wind Waker is very overrated by the hardcore zelda fanbase. It does have some things over Twilight Princess, like offering more to do outside the main quest, and more busy towns, but it's hurt big time by major flaws such as mediocre dungeon design, tedious gameplay, and poorly thought out game controls.

- There's the whole triforce hunt in Wind Waker, which is an abomination of gameplay. I understand the intended of appeal of giving the feel of exploration and treasure hunting, but the execution is poor. The vast amount of sailing over endless boring blue, having to scrounge around for rupees because you ran out of treasure maps and still have 1500 rupees to collect, the repetitiveness of switching between maps to get the triforce shards. Plus, some of the puzzles to get the maps are complete arbitrary and annoying. If you get to the cabana, and haven't yet gotten the deed, how on earth are you supposed to know that you have to go to some school in Kakariko village? When you search for the ghost ship, how could you possibly know you have to go to a specific random cave to get the map? The bug hunt in Twilight Princess is criticized as similarly annoying, but it's broken up into manageable chunks, and takes maybe 45 minutes total.

- The game controls in Wind Waker feel almost broken. Remember in Ocarina of Time, how annoying it was to repeatedly take on/off the iron boots in the water temple? This sort of crap is prevalent all throughout Wind Waker. Every single time you have to move direction, you have to whip out your instrument, play the notes, and go through a cut scene. It's cool the first time, but having to do it over and over is excruciating, especially if you overshoot your target just a bit and have to switch directions. In the later dungeons, when controlling someone, you have to whip out the instrument, play the notes, and go through a cut scene. Again, this is excruciatingly annoying because you have to switch about 30 times per dungeon! All of the controls in Twilight Princess are smooth and seamless. Items are fun to use, and switching between human and wolf is no problem.

- Wind Waker is a very easy game. I really don't know why Twilight Princess gets so much criticism for lack of difficulty while Wind Waker seemingly gets a free pass, despite being just as easy (with the exception of the arbitrarily difficult triforce hunt, and maybe the boss fights). The Wind Waker dungeons are an absolute breeze. Whatever you need to do in each room is quite obvious. The puzzles require little thought. Whereas in Twilight Princess, the dungeons can provide some challenge (some of the water/stairway manipulation in LakeBed temple can be tricky, and it's easy to get lost in City In The Sky). You actually have to do some thinking to solve the ice block puzzles in Snowpeak, or passing the guards to get to the master sword.

- For all the criticism Twilight Princess gets for being unoriginal, Wind Waker has some damn boring and unoriginal dungeons. We have yet another fire dungeon, 2 forest dungeons, a stone tower dungeon, and an undead-themed dungeon. Twilight Princess admittedly also has some dungeons that repeat themes from previous games, and yet it also actually has some unique concepts. A yeti mansion in a snowy mountain, a sky dungeon where you can swing around like Spiderman, a palace in the twilight realm. All stuff we haven't seen in a console zelda game before.

- Sailing is boring. It's just boring endless blue. It might be neat in theory to have 49 islands to explore, but a lot of the islands are disappointingly empty, and you curse yourself for wasting 15 minutes of your life sailing to get there. Horseback riding is fun. The landscape is varied and exciting to look at the whole way through.

- Midna is one of the best video game characters ever.

- 9 dungeons > 6 dungeons

- more advanced combat. Parrying in Wind Waker is boring.

- better cut scenes

Twilight Princess is the better game.

At the same time, yes. But there have been ports of other games after their inital releases.

The bigger journey is also accounted to that boring, large ocean that was a huge nuisance.

They do, and it doesn't get enough credit for being a very fun and enjoyable game. People set their expectations way too high.
