Favourite Gamecube/Wii Zelda game

Which Gamecube/Wii Zelda game is your favourite?
Give reasons for your answer.

My favourite Gamecube/Wii Zelda game is.... I can't decide.

The Wind Waker has great graphics, great gameplay, great music and reminds me of The Ocarina of Time.

Twilight Princess has great graphics, great gameplay, great music and reminds me of The Ocarina of Time.

Even though the above statements imply that the games are the same, they are unbelievably different in the "feel" of the games. Twilight Princess is dark, while The Wind Waker is a happier game.

Or do you prefer the great Four Swords Adventures?

I am going to have to go with Twilight Princess. They are both great games, but the sailing gets annoying before you learn the Ballad of Gales. Sailing more than a few squares at a time is too boring.

Re: Favourite Gamecube/Wii Zelda game

I believe I've posted this here before, but I don't feel like a typing a whole big post again so I'll just post this a second time.

Quote:
Twilight Princess is in my opinion, the best, by just a little bit.

Mainly because of the gameplay and the epic scale.

When I first walked out into Hyrule Field, I was amazed. It was huge! I ran around for like 15 minutes just exploring!

The dungeons in this game are truly creative and they have some clever puzzles. They're easily the best of any Zelda game, for me.

Also, I loved the controls. Swinging the Wiimote to swing your sword worked great, and it helped make the already excellent sword combat even better. I also loved aiming the clawshot and bow and arrow in this game, much better then any of the other Zelda games.

But, it's not just the gameplay. The atmosphere for the game is great too, from the moody and dreary Twilight Realm to the peaceful and relaxing Lake Hylia, to the rainy and massive Hyrule Castle.

Those are just a few of the reasons that Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game.

Although, The Wind Waker is a very close second and practically tied, for many reasons.

From the wonderful and catchy music to the beautiful and awe inspiring graphics, the game is nearly perfect.

The sense of exploration and freedom is absolutely wonderful and it is a very fresh take on the classic Zelda formula.

The story and all of the characters are so human, from Link's Grandmother worrying about him and Aryll, and Link's reactions to strange happenings and all of his expressions...

Ganondorf was fully fleshed out, he wasn't just plain evil. He had his own motives and personality, and I actually felt somewhat bad for him...it's truly amazing, and the overall amount of in the game detail is stunning.

The sword fighting was incredibly fun and it worked very well. And the controls are great. I swear the GameCube controller was made JUST for this game. I have never played another game that used the GCN controller half as well as TWW did.

I loved the sense of exploration and freedom the Great Sea gave, and the dungeons were very fun and creative at times.

Also, as I mentioned above, the graphics are crisp, colorful and stunningly beautiful. In my opinion, the nicest graphics in any Zelda game and some of the nicest graphics ever!

I loved the music in the game so much, it's so fitting, majestic and beautiful.

So yeah, while Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game, The Wind Waker is definitely an extremely close second and basically tied

Twilight Princess and I'll tell you why for me the game revolutionized the zelda series it had clever puzzles original dungeons and bosses based off of Ocarina of Time bosses I mean Morpha, Morphee.l Agorok, Volvagia and the items were new well some where.

Re: Favourite Gamecube/Wii Zelda game

Well, this is basically a contest between TP and WW...as I barely consider FSA a decent game. It had actual levels like a Mario game, yet with an explorable area for each reminiscent of ALTTP. It felt too linear..I couldn't get into it.

TP versus WW: I'd pick WW, by a huge amount.

I can see that some people prefer the darker realism that TP was full of..but I like the mood of WW. Even though bad things have happened, Hyrule is flooded and lost, with the survivors clinging to small islands...it doesn't let it wreck the mood. It's still happy and hopeful, versus the brooding atmosphere of TP. I personally liked that more.

I liked the world too, despite the cartoony style, the world is beautiful and alive. The people have personality, and I thought that the Nintendo Gallery was a nice way to learn about the characters..to deepen them, and make them real.

Related to that, I love the sidequests of WW. Sailing to the far reaches of the sea to get a shot of that character for your collection, the trading quest..I much liked that. Same with the exploration aspect. I still find things I have never seen before. I liked the Triforce quest because it made me explore. I also liked nifty little gimicks like the spoils bag, and all the items to trade.

In WW we have the standard Link-Zelda-Ganondorf, and all three are beautifully developed and great characters. A fresh take on the old story. Tetra and Ganondorf were probably IMO the best we've ever seen of them.

In other stuff..while WW relied on musical remixes, like TP..I thought WW did it better, and with more catchy tunes in general.

But I think what I liked most was the ending...it was happy, hopeful and fulfilling. TP left me feeling hollow because of the departure of Midna. If WW had ended with Tetra being permanently seperated from Link, I think I would feel similar.

What's wrong with cartoony? Plus, the only reason people say that is because of the cell-shaded graphics. I don't see why people hate them, I think they look cool. Like I said, if the sailing wasn't so boring between more than two squares, TWW would be tied with TP as the best GameCube/Wii Zelda.

TP. Wind Waker had cell shading - ick. Four Swords was a good game, just too short. Tp was not cell shaded and was long and nice. It was the return of the dark zelda too.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a dark Zelda game, but I also enjoy a lighter, friendlier mood. I really enjoyed the look of the cel-shading in The Wind Waker, and I believe that the cel-shading looked equally impressive to the Twilight Princess graphics.

Re: Favourite Gamecube/Wii Zelda game

TP, tough TWW is one of my favourite games, I think TP is better, it has the best gameplay in the series, and it had a great story, tough the ending sucked, the rest was perfect, the Hidden Skills were a huge improvement, the horse fighting had a lot of potential, and there were just 2 fights (2 good fights I mean), I liked the graphics a lot, the textures for the grass, sand and dirt needed more work tough, the combat is very great, the number of different attacks is good, not great but it was just as needed, tough I would like some spins in attacks... TP apported a lot of things to Zelda, it is overrated by some, and also underrated by others.

I still think TWW is an incredible game tough, and I DO LIKE ITS GRAPHICS.

I prefer wind waker for its difficulty. For gameplay, I prefer to play twilight princess. I prefer TP for the scenery and graphics. In general I'de prefer twilight princess(althought the game could have been improved on alot), over WW anyday.

Isn't is unusual that a game with childish (but great) graphics has a higher difficulty than a game with more realistic graphics that would seemingly be aimed at a higher age group?

Re: Favourite Gamecube/Wii Zelda game

I thought Wind Waker was the better one. The setting and the visuals were very original, and the whole thing felt very fresh.

Twilight Princess didn't impress me at all. The only thing it really had going for it was the visuals, but even those didn't wow me when I got into the game. The whole thing felt like the biggest rehash the series has seen yet, and was far too easy. It wasn't a terrible game, but it was about as mediocre as The Minish Cap. It simply didn't bring anything new to the table.

Actually TP is still aimed at a younger audience, which is why the series is getting too easy. Myiamoto knows we'll continue to buy it, since it is in the Zelda series. He believes in a difficulty setting for everyone, but there isn't. He is so focused on drawing in new gamers that us hardcore gamers are stuck with easier games then before. We need the difficulty of at least ALttP, if not AoL or LoZ. ALttP was the perfect game difficulty wise, not to hard that people give up too soon (like LoZ and AoL, both great games, but a tiny bit too difficult), but not too easy like the series has been going recently. I will continue buying the games for the enjoyment of the dungeons and adventures, but I would like to see the difficulty of the original games.

TP zelda overrules TWW

Twilight Princess wins only because Wind Waker felt rushed.

EXAMPLE:
Quote:
Link we need to get the pearls!
Quote:
Link we need to get the master sword!
Quote:
Link we need to save the princess!
Get my point?

Other than that Twilight Princess and Wind Waker were pretty even.(I do dislike the graphics of Wind Waker though)

Four Swords Adventures was a good multi player game but the graphics were horrible for a Game Cube game! Not even a real Game Cube game!

You forgot two more Game Cube Zelda games! The Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time/Master Quest

Yeah, uh, how exactly is it more rushed? I'd say Wind Waker is the least rushed of the four 3D titles.

WW.

TP was good, but still not as good as WW was. Music, story, and especially characters and graphics were, and still are, lightyears ahead of TP. Sure the Triforce quest was a bit boring (only a little), but so was killing those bugs to fill up the Light Vessel.

The light tear collections were a lot shorter than the Triforce hunt, though.
