Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

Actually your right. Stallord was a joke. I never anticipated seeing Zelda go platform-style. Actually, everything in TP turned out to be something different to that of what I was really craving. But it grew on me and it's my favorite Zelda. Stallord was just a stupid head that flew around. Nothing exciting there.

Same goes for each other boss. Not that exciting really.

I saw the bosses of TP the weak point of the game. Even the dungeons were too. Just too many. Too unoriginal and yeah...

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

I think every boss in the game was far too easy. Whatever happened to ALTTP style difficulty? Those bosses were awesome AND hugely difficult. Most bosses after the first three in ALTTP would take about 3 hearts a hit.

Whereas in TP the most I have seen any boss inflict is about 1 heart. C'mon nintendo where on earth is your imagination?! You managed to perfect ALTTP bosses, why not TP?

From wii it is clear nintendo have picked back up on opinions

its just when you see games like mario and sonic olympics its clear this idea was scraped from the bottom of their minds

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

TP was made for new players more than veteran players. thats why the bosses are easy. to welcome new players to Zelda. TP was still an amazing game and if you say otherwise then you are not worthy of being called Zelda fans. Just because TP wasn't "good enough" in your eyes doesn't mean that nintendo are running out of ideas. The bosses were still very good in my opinion and i have played every single Zelda game to date. Enough said.

Yes, the bosses are the weak points of the game but too many dungeons? No way. Twilight Princess brought back the wonderful number of dungeons that OoT had and out did it by making them longer. I have to say the dungeons were Twilight Princess stronger points. They were all pretty well made too.

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

I can understand orginality starting to fade because a lot of the best ideas have already been done, doesn't mean you can take an existing idea change it a bit and turn it into a kick ass game. Look at Halo, it took the idea of Aliens attacking earth, and it turned out to be a kick ass game when they changed a few things like add a ring and some other stuff.

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

What I noticed recently is a lack in detail. A simple example: With every boss door a giant lock comes falling down, often a top of Link. However he just walks through it. Wouldn't it be a lot more fun if he jumped away from it?... Things like that would have made the game par with OoT's sign fun.

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

I thought all the bosses were original and fun. Difficulty hasn't really changed all that much. OOT's bosses were all easy. The hardest one was Phantom Ganon... The two major flaws with TP's bosses would for me be that in many of the bosses you can just stay out of range and make the boss a lot easier, and that often there will be a mini cutscene that concentrates on the weak spot (like when you remove Argorok's armor). But I still love TP's bosses.

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

OoT bosses were not that easy. I remember Bongo Bongo actually killed me, Jabu Jabu's boss was hard to dodge with all the jellyfish going round and round, Phantom Ganon was easy once you noticed that the real one coming out of the picture had a darker armour (or brighter, I don't remember now), and Twinrova was kind of hard.
But it probably has to do with when you played this game. I played it back in '98, when I had not played many 3D games. Now that I have, they're becoming easier for me.

Hmmm. That might be a good explanation for it, as I started playing the Zelda games around 2005 . Twinrova is hard though, but I find it's a lot easier if you avoid targeting the sisters in the first phase, thus avoiding most chances of freezing/catching on fire. Come to think of it, I think the only Zelda game where a boss has actually killed me is TWW! But that was before I knew how to dodge Gohdan's flames, and Puppet Ganon may be the hardest boss in the 3D games (but I haven't played MM).

Anyway, even if the bosses are easy, I find that they are rather fun. Stallord will always be one of my favorite bosses. It's fun moving around at those high speeds. Phase 2 isn't all that easy if you avoid using spin attacks on the head, cause you have to avoid all those "traps" that fly along the wall and the pillar. It might not lead you to dying, but it can be enough to get you a little frustrated and take some time.

What do you want so many dungeons for?

Dungeons feel like they aren't even part of the overworld. That annoys me.

Also, in TP, I was expecting tons of NPC interaction. I think it was capable of that. But Nintendo kept the NPC interaction down to OoT standards...

Absolutely right. Dungeons felt weird. Not a part of the overworld. Specially the City in the sky. It was like
A - "Oh my God! we forgot a dungeon, we donīt have more place on the map"
B - "Oh, just put it to float in the sky"

Well, you can't exactly put a city that's supposed to be in the sky anywhere but the sky, can you?

I believe that the concept around the Oocca and the dungeon up there was one of the more original ideas that was in TP. The only part of TP that I found to be a clear re-use was the first step of Morpheel, but I believe it was intentional. The boss' name IS Morpheel, clearly pointing towards Morpha.

Re: Nintendo is starting to lack ideas...

I did enjoy most of the TP bosses, though I have to agree with the Arbiters Grounds boss being ****e. I thought the 1st fase was great fun but then the flying head bit wasn't so fun. I think its more of the whole Spinner item that ruined it, like it seemed more like a futuristic item with an unoriginal name.
Zant was very good, and my battle with him went on for ages with me trying to figure out what items to use but him freaking out after it did ruin it as the whole twilight palace was really cool and mysterious. Even though Armogohma was easy, it did look awesome but those statues looked too silly and cartoony.
