Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

In this topic, you could share what simple puzzles you had a really hard time with. Don't worry, we're not gonna laugh about you. Here are mine:

In the Forest Temple, there was a part where you had to roll on a pillar to make the chest fall down. I didn't realize the chest was there, so I spent like 3 hours just to notice it.

In the Lakebed Temple, I thought the boss room door needed a small key, since it looked like it did. I spent like half an hour looking all over the dungeon for a small key, just to find out that it needed the big key.

In snowpeak ruins, there's a part where you had to use your wolf and dig on part of the ground. I was just a flat-out idiot not to think about digging, and it took me quite a while just to find it out.

I'm not sure if this is a 'simple' puzzle, but in Hyrule castle, there was a part where you had to extinguish the torch's fire to make a platform go up. I didn't think of doing that, since the other two torches had to be litten with the lantern(Which is the complete oppossite of extinguishing).

This one isn't my problem(I found it out in like 2 seconds), But my brother took 2 hours to find this one out. Remember the last twilight bug which had six huge arms? After hitting him he falls down on the water lying on his back. In this point, you have to use your energy field to hit all his arms at once. My brother forgot he had that move, so he took 2 hours just to remember.

In Wind Waker, there was a part where you had to siddle to the back of the bomb store, then climb the vine and enter the window to spy on the pirates. I didn't notice the little ledge you could siddle through, so it took me LONGER THEN EVER just to figure this on out. (Maybe 5-7 hours.)

So, what were your embarassing moments?

I did the EXACT same thing. >.> And it was the exact same amount of time as well, about half an hour I was just trailing myself everywhere trying to find a small key, when it was actually the boss room. >.> I can't remember how I figured it out, I think I fell down and thought okay I'll jump down and get the chest on its level, and I walked next to the door, to my embarassment, it was the boss room. >.> Heh...

It took me ages to figure out the puzzle in Arbiter's Grounds, the one down the stairs in the main room with the four torches. You have to rotate the wall, and hookshot up. I DID figure it out, but it took me a heck of a lot of time.

My friend told me about the chest in South Hyrule, the one out of reach near a little pool of water. I didn't let her tell me how to get it, as I wanted to figure it out myself, but after figuring it out, it was the most simplest thing in the world. XD Ahh, but heck did it feel good.

I had the same problem as you in Hyrule Castle, extinguising the torches. I just would've never imagined. XD But little old me always tries to use every single item possible when I'm stuck in a room, so I ended up using the Boomerang.

And I seem to remember doing everything else fine. XD Ahh, TP is going to give me some right memories, just like OoT.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

I'll have to own up about the Forest Temple, the part where you have to use the Gail Boomerang to unlock the door to the Boss chest. I know it's unbelievable but I spent more time than you would think to do that, I must of been really tired or something because it's soo simple. It's just shocking really. I can't think of anymore right now so I'll have to edit.

This happened exactly the same to me! I couldn't believe it when I finally did it though, how could of I forgotten that move? It's just strange. It did take me like a long time to work it out though, I just don't understand how I could of not used the energy field. Oh well, these things happen.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

I couldn't do that one in the CitS. You know where you have to lower yourself from the flying things? So you go under the two ledges?

Also, I got stuck on Hyrule Castle with the part where you have to dig to the graveyard area. And also the part where you have to do the torches thing with the Darknut too, like you said before.

I made a couple of other mistakes too.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

In the Temple of Time, there is a part where you have to bring the statue across those balances. Since I was playing late at night, my brain wasn't functioning as well, and it took me a little over an hour to figure that part out. Also, finding the boss key. It isn't until I get all the way downstairs that I figure out I need it, and then I have to go all the way back up.

There is also a puzzle in a cave that is to the left of the entrance to the Lanayru province. It's ice blocks that need to be shoved onto switches so that you can eventually get a piece of Heart, and that one took two hours to do. And then when you complete the puzzle, you're like, "DUH!"

But I do love Zelda puzzles, they are my favorite part of the games.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

Sometimes in TP I forget I have the Big Key or I forget that I have it. The last time it happened to me was when I was at the end of TP trying to get into Ganondorf's room. I had saved the game right before I got the key, and when I got back I forgot that I had not gotten the key. So I made it all the way to the boss room to discover I didn't have it.

When I was first playing through OoT (years ago) there was this one room in the Fire Dungeon (when you're a kid) that took me at least a month to figure out. It was the room where you have to pull out a block to get on top of another pillar and get a bomb to destroy a rock at the top of a ladder that has a door behind it that you have to go through. Every time I tried to figure it out I never thought about pulling the block out. But one day I was going across the wall and I found that it said pull for the A button.

That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure there are more.

I'm sure every body knows about the "Push the Ice Blocks over the switch" puzzle. It took me like 5 hours to FINALLY get it right. And when I did get it done, I felt like such an idiot! It was so simple!

Dont laugh at me!

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

I have the stupidist thing of all...
I had just beaten Ocarina of Time, I was in the forest temple, I had 8 monkeys, I needed one more, locked door.
I looked down, a key symbol was there, but in OOT a one was there when there was a key
So I searched for a whole hour, trying to find this, got two heart pieces, everything, finally, out of anger, I tried the door...
it opened...

In the Forest Temple, in the part where you have to activate the 4 swiches to get the Big Key. I was doing all diffrent orders of swiches, and all the time Midnas saying "Its right in front of you". I then spent 15 minuets looking on the walls and cielings for a clue. Finally I saw the Z on the floor.

Dude, you did the exact same thing I did, so don't even think you're stupid. It took me 2 hours to look down at the Z pattern on the floor! lol

I did the same thing also, I just went around the temple looking for the key that didn't exist only to find out that i didn't need it.

in the forrest temple, i went into the room with the four lanterns and i though that you had to put them out with water, and i didn't know that the chest was on the pillar that you just had to roll into, i didn't keep track of the time, but it probably took hours.

I don't know if this counts but when fighting zant in the first scene of fighting when you had to use the boomerang to get him down, it took hour of testing materials and minda wasn't any help.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

on the way up to snowpeak, you have to run into the wall for some snow to fall. Well the first timeI beat it, I got it no problem, the second time it took like five minutes, real cool.

In the forest temple the second time through I went strait to the second poe, completely forgot about the first, and was very confused when the door didn't open.

That took me 30 minutes to figure out. I had no idea I had to ram it.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

I remember the fun time i had in the Lakebed Temple. I got to the first room with the road spiraling upwards, where you release the water. I went up, there was the "arch" that you had to get on top of. I missed the ladder on the side and ran around the temple like an idiot for a few hours until i went up there again and my friend who came to watch how i was doing said "hey, there's a ladder".

My most stupid "miss" in any video game happened with OoT. Ok, don't laugh. So i was in the desert, followed the ghost, got to the temple, went inside, couldn't proceed, WARPED out. It took me about two weeks before i just walked out of the temple and got further in the game

Hahaha I did this too!!

In WW in the first Temple .. forgot it's name now, right near the end after you get the boss key I couldn't work out how to get back up the top to the boss door. I tried swinging across to the bridge but kept falling into the lava, I tried jumping to one of the platforms from that broken cage and then I finally realised you had to go into the room which led to the broken cage and throw the pot of water on that lava spout :embrsd:

I felt like such a tool haha.

the holes in Ooa

I hate the holes in Ooa where you had to jump them with that bear and you would keep falling everytime you had a corner and there was always a corner. But it was so funny watching him and the bear die.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

I have one. Right before you get the Master sword you have to do the puzzle with the two statues. For the life of me I couldn't figure it out, My little brother asked if he could try, I figured what the heck and handed over the controls. I went to get a drink came back and he had it figured out.>< I had been trying for almost an hour. I felt really retarded.

Re: Simple puzzles that took you FOREVER to find out.

I am guilty of this many times over - it always seems to be different things for different people.

All I can recall ATM is OoT in the Deku Tree - you have to jump from the top to break the web on the floor. In TP when I was first a wolf, having the Wii remote I was attacking the wooden box in the cell you're held in with the A button and nothing happened. I had to look at an FAQ to know that I just had to shake the remote to destroy the box! Also, in the Water Temple getting the boss key you have to lower yourself down through the floor to get it. But I just kept shooting up and dropping, trying with my boots to drop faster and tried getting in the other way, thinking a switch would allow me up onto the platform and that I'd have to exit by grappling up through the hole and that's wat it was for or something. >_>
