TP Guide

You see, I bought the guide for 15 dollars. I have read it inside and out, forwards and backwards. I know how to beat the game with ever playing a demo or even touching a Wii. (If you have any questions on how to beat it PM me )
I feel like I have already beat the game though. I when I do beat it for the first time, I won't feel that feeling of accomplishment. I made a mistake by buying that guide, but I still have hope y'know. I haven't acctually played the game yet. What are your thoughts?

Re: TP Guide

Me too. I bought the nintendo power guide before getting my wii or the game. I always like the guides. I also preordered the huge primas guide. I like to have the guides by my side as I play the game. I have been using it as I play to make sure I don't miss anything. I know most don't even look in a guide until they have beaten the game on thier own but I like to make sure I get everything out of it the first time. Then if I want to do a second play through I'll try to go guideless. I have noticed that the nintendo guide is a bit vague. There was still some stuff they left out or didn't explain very well. Hopefully the primas guide is better.

Re: TP Guide

I got my guide for free from Nintendo Power in the mail and I made my girlfriend hide it from me because I kept flipping through unconciously (sp?), and I don't want to spoil anything in the game. I'll be buying the Prima guide as well (probably) and I guess I'll have to have her hide that one as well.

Sorry that you ruined the game for yourself, but you should have had more self control!

*edit*, You'll still enjoy playing the game however, it's a tremendious game (well I'm only 25 hours into it, but so far it is, and I know it won't disapoint me!) and one that you'll love to play.

Re: TP Guide

Do the guidebooks have any new official artwork? I don't mean the images that have been taken directly from the game, I mean illustrations that haven't been revealed before.

Whats the point of playing the game with a guide at your side? I really hope your not any of the dudes *****ing about how the games not hard enough , I think you'll find it more difficult and rewarding playing the game without a guide, just my opinion.

Re: TP Guide

^ Reading the guide just guides you through the mental work. The bosses and puzzles look really hard so the game still seems hard to me.

Re: TP Guide

I'm only going to say this once, but using a guide takes all the fun out of Zelda games. The ONLY guides you should be using are heart piece guides and things like that (poes, golden bugs, etc). Especially with how dungeon map + compass works in Twilight Princess you don't have toi worry about missing chests in dungeons

Re: TP Guide

I only use a guide when I am stuck and can't figure where to go next. Other wise I am just stuck at the same place for hours on end. However I try all my options that seem possible at the time before going to the guide. Usualy its something so obvious I somehow over look it.

Like in MC, I was in a room where you had to push a pot to the button and then get 2 other links and stand on the rest. Hell i didnt even know i could do that while I was big.

So I mainly stick to trying to figure it out, if I can't for some reason I get a quick look at a guide.

But yea, you get more enjoyment out of a game if you dont use the guides.

Well if your that good at it, then you should be a big help in the TP Help Thread.

As for using guides. I like them. If I'm stuck, BAM! I get to wherever i need to go.

Re: TP Guide

Is it worth it to buy the guide? People keep telling me to play it on my own for maximum fun or something.

Re: TP Guide

Most of the time; guides ruin the experience. It's best to play the game at least once without the guide; that way you get a sense of feeling and accomplishment, and you're able to truly enjoy TP the way it was meant to be.

Using a guide just ruins the excitement of figuring things out on your own and not knowing what's going to happen next, as well as the whole concept of figuring out a puzzle (it's meant to "puzzle you;" not make you quickly take a look at the strategy guide).

The only reason I'm going to get a strategy guide (I already beat the game; so there really isn't a point to buying one anymore) is for nostalgic purposes (as well as to view the neat art within the guide). I'm awaiting the release of a collector's edition one.

Re: TP Guide

It IS worth it to get the guide though. Having a sense of accomplishment still comes to me when I use the guide. But when I get good enough to not use the guide, that will be even better. And now I am going to compete with TSA and beat him for the speed run title

Re: TP Guide

Am I the only person that LIKES getting stuck in Zelda games? You get stuck, you go do something else then the answer hits you, plus spending hours in one area gives that place a sense of familiarity, and for me at least it is those times that become classic memories.

Re: TP Guide

I normally beat a Zelda game without a guide and then use the guide for 100% completion. I still havn't gotten my TP guide though and I already beat it 100% with no guide.
It'll be easier to get help from someone who's played the game though. Just knowing the guide doesn't cut it.

Re: TP Guide

I hope this game will get me stuck a lot of times. Its always good having to take ages to work it out. Then get upset and put the game down.

I disagree... I think it's OK to use a guide sometimes, as long as you don't use it throughout the entire game. Me, I just use them when I'm stuck and have been trying to figure out what to do for hours. Other than that, I play the Zelda games figuring things out on my own.
