Re: WW sailing

I think it was fun to beable to shoot bombs at enemy ships, but the sailing between islands got quite boring and having to search for the triforce pieces under the sea was tiresome.

Re: WW sailing

Windwaker was a great game after the sailing when you are able to teleport it made it amazing.

It would have been better had they let you swim under water. Now that would be something!

Re: WW sailing

The sailing is great. Sure, it's not quite the same as riding Epona, but it is still good.
As for the Triforce hunt, it wouldn't be a very good job of hiding if it was all hidden in the same place would it?

Re: WW sailing

The idea of sailing through a massive ocean is awesome, but in tWW it was poorly executed. It would make sense for a boy living on an island, to be able to swim. The Layout of the islands also made exploration via boat nearly non-exsistant. Sure, it's fun sometimes just to set sail and go southward, but, there are times at which I wish I could do more.

Re: WW sailing

The problem is that its unrealistic. Loads of little islands dotted all over the place. Why not a couple of little islands and some bigger ones?

I don't think realism is a big issue, OoT is one of the best games ever made, and it's overworld, in terms of geography, social relations, and economy are entirely unrealistic.

Re: WW sailing

Good point. Although WW would be better had there been some bigger islands.

Yeah. A few more islands like Windfall would be nice.

Re: WW sailing

I loved the sailing! And the island sized were pretty much perfect IMO. It gave the inhabited areas a kind of clingy feeling, like they had to make do with very little space to build. One or two larger islands, maybe the size of the forsaken fortress would have been good too, but not too large, or else the great flood would have seemed less of a burden on the people.

I'll never forget when I first set sail from windfall. One of my favorite zelda moments.

Re: WW sailing

I like sailing; It was useful and enjoyable. The music accompaniment was excellent. (Thank goodness they had enough foresight to see we'd be sailing constantly) however I have one reservation and one suggestion: I wouldn't do it for fun. It's not as enjoyable as riding Epona in OOT. The suggestion: They shoud have added more enemies, like a different kind of seacreature (not a big octo, seahat or shark) that you would have to face.

Re: WW sailing

The problem with tWW's sailing, in my opinion, is that The King of Red Lions is obviously a Cat rigged boat, meaning that it can sail upwind. However, the only point of sail that worked well was a run. They did not implement the idea of sailing particularly well. Perhaps if it was a big pirate ship that Link sailed around it would make sense, but it was not. The fastest direction was supposed to be perpendicular to the wind, not with it.

Re: WW sailing

I love sailing, it makes me think I'm riding in a real boat. YAY!

I also love sailing because it's fun because the world is really big and sailing takes a long time.
