Re: The Twilight Princess Hype Thread

Its not like you are being forced to pay for both of them. If you want to play the Wii version with some added features(such as Navi and well the wiimote system) Then the GC version is for those who prefer the more classic style.

Anyways, I bet they will have a little bargin thing, where you can get 2 disks(one GC and Wii version) or something.

besides, its not like your going to have to pay the full price for both versions, just wait awhile and Ebay will have it cheaper.

But then i see where your coming from and your right they are kinda cheating us. But i guess its not up to us how they run their buisness, if they want to do it we really have no power to stop it. Hopefully im wrong...

It seems a bit pointless to me to have to get 2 seperate discs, considering that Wii supports the GC controllers anyway. Also the Wii version is the only version that will get a Widescreen optio, meaning that If you got both versions you would only be able to play one of them in this set up.

I don't know how Nintendo intend to solve this conundrum, but I hope they will shed some light on it soon, hopefully at the same time as they give an exact release date.

Re: The Twilight Princess Hype Thread

I don't know why everyone's worried about which version they should get and whatnot. From what I've heard the core control system is practically identical in both versions. The only big features added with Wii are manual aiming with weapons, menu navigation and fishing. It's not really much. You still have the same lock-on system and whatever with both Wii and GCN, its just that no one was really using it.

Personally, I'm probably going to prefer the Gamecube controls a little more, but I'll probably get the Wii version too if only because the fishing minigame seems so cool... oh, and that I'm a Zelda freak

Yep, just make up your mind people. If you're getting the Wii, buy the Wii version. If not get the GC version. You have untill November (more than likely) to make a decision. I personally haven't made up my mind yet but I'm leaning towards getting the Wii at launch. One thing I do know is that I'll be picking up TP the day it comes out.

Because not everyone has the luxury of paying $300 for an absolutely stunning looking fishing minigame.

I'm interested in playing the game with each control method in order to determine which offers a better experience.
Sigh... Boy, don't I wish I could buy one version to play on both systems. I'll tell you it is possible for you to plug in your Gamecube controller and use it for the Wii. But I know it won't be the other way around, which is what upsets me.

I can't handle the competition of getting a Wii the day or week it hits stores, which means I might have to wait a month or two. And because I am impatient that way, I'll end up buying TP for the GC. And I feel like I'll be missing out on SO MUCH.

Also, Shiek84, the Wii version will obviously offer a much better experience - there's no need to try both. It's possible that the Wii controller scheme is uncomfortable, but otherwise, the Wii version has everything the GC version offers and more.

Sadly, OldBeane and AndyZX, but the dilemma simply isn't as easy as you make it sound.

Re: The Twilight Princess Hype Thread

I too find myself having to decide which version to get. I really do want to try out the Wii features now that I'm looking forward to it. Especially since it'll probably be easier using the Wii-mote for aiming the bow & Gale Boomerang. But it'll be a while before I can afford the Wii (a year at least *cries*). Sure the Wii can play GCN games, which only adds to the dilema. I could get the GCN version & play with it (and merrily I might add) until I can afford the Wii. But getting me to get rid of a Zelda game is like... Well let's just say that you'll have to pry them from my cold, dead, fingers (ew).

It would be nice (& convienant) for folks who preordered Twilight Princess to get both Wii & GCN versions. Very nice indeed.

Re: The Twilight Princess Hype Thread

I may get a Wii sometime after the price drops because I hear it will be $250. I will be getting TP for the GC the day it comes out and when I get a Wii, the Wii version and Knuchuck Controller will be the first things I get with it.

Perrin Kaplan confirmed that the wiimote with the nunchuck attachment will come togethor within the core wii package.

here's what you do. buy the gamecube version, have your fun with it. sell it on ebay. then buy the wii version on ebay. at most you'd lose $10.

Re: The Twilight Princess Hype Thread

The "dilemma" isn't even a dilemma.

I don't get it. It's really simple. Only Wii will let you play games with the Wiimote. GCN doesn't. Both versions will be identical, you just won't get to use motion sensing in one. It seems a little gimmicky in a game like TP anyways.

Look at it this way...

GCN Version = Full beautiful looking game
Wii Version = Full beautiful looking game + a few motion sensing controls

Everyone seems to think the two versions must be drastically different or something. It won't be a different story. All the core controls are still there. If anything, Nintento are helping out the people that don't want to fork out the money for a new console. Seems win win to me.

Oh, and this is also coming from a poor student who's really just scraping by with rent and food. But I can still find it in me to put that little bit of money away each week because I'm psyched to play the Wii. So don't think I'm some rich b**** that can just flick money away on a whim.

I am truly sorry if I offended you by my last post. In retrospect it sounded immature and like it was directed only at you. What I meant was that I'd love to try out the new Wii TP control scheme but I don't have the money to buy a Wii right away. What I'll probably end up doing is buying TP on the Gamecube, which I would imagine would be more comfortable, and then renting a Wii and TP from my local video store later (they're excellent when it comes to having new systems and hyped-up games in stock). Problem solved. Whining over.

I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to get the gamecube version when it comes out because I want to get TP as soon as possible, plus I won't have enough money to buy a wii. Then I'm going to get the wii for Christmas and then get the wii version of TP for my birthday which is two days after Xmas. I have it all worked out.

You're willing to pay $100 for two copies of essentially the same game?

This situation is a dilema. I wanted my one last conventional Zelda. I want to play the game multiple times using different control methods in order to increase the value and replayability of the game, and for the sake of comparison.

If we can plug Gamecube controllers into our Wii, why on earth would Nintendo opt not to include traditional controls in the Wii version? That is all I'm asking for. I find it beyond ridiculous for me to have to buy two versions if I want to try both play styles. I don't like the situation "choose one or the other, then become paranoid about whether you made the right choice". That's a bunch of crap. I actually would prefer that Twilight Princess remain Gamecube only, and that Nintendo focus on motion controls for Zelda Wii . . . unless this is Zelda Wii . . . which I both doubt and hope is not the case.

Nintendo could remedy the entire predicament by merely allowing you to insert a Gamecube controller into the Wii. Viola. Problem solved. Anybody with half a brain would buy the Wii version, unless they're not planning on getting a Wii period. Okay. Fine. Release it on Gamecube for those people. But don't screw the rest of us over.
